I loved that Punisher movie. I don't know what it was, but it was one of those things I could watch over and over.
Punisher
Character » Punisher appears in 2803 issues.
When U.S. Marine veteran Frank Castle's family's was murdered for witnessing a mob hit, the man vowed to avenge their deaths and became a one-man army in his personal war against the criminal underworld. With a distinct death's head skull adorning his chest, Frank Castle became the vigilante known as the Punisher.
Thomas Jane Reprises Role as The Punisher (Sort Of)
@MercWithaMouth2385: He wasn't an actual Avenger then. In fact the closest he got was during Civil War whenCap ended up kicking his ass
Not bad - pacing was a little inconsistent - but - not bad.
Met Thomas Jane at Emerald City Comic Con and he's definitely got the stoic part down.
Would pay to see another Punisher film with him in the starring role - just needs a decent writer for the screen play.
Thomas Jane was awesome in the Mist - find myself watching it repeatedly - Great film.
Honestly - there are not very many GREAT films at all - but that's a whole different discussion (which I'm sure would come under heavy scrutiny)
One minor gripe - if you spend the money to bring in Ron Perlman at least get a decent shirt!
That Punisher logo shirt was whacked - I'm sure they could have found one similar to the film version.

Thomas Jane was the second Punisher, not the first.

Yes this has already been pointed out to me....

Don't know if Mickey Mouse allow this... lol
Mickey Mouse owns the company that made the SAW movies...
Thomas Jane is a great actor and clearly has a real love for the character, I would love another Punisher film starring him and possibly even directed by him.
People didn't like the change in location and Jane didn't fit their mental image of the MAX Frank Castle that was popular at the time. But the fact is that the 2004 Punisher movie was excellent as a an adaptation of the comic character and also as simply an action movie in its own right. Thomas Jane was a great Punisher, and moving the character to Tampa was believable. It can't all happen in New York. Seriously, it can't. I was devastated when the Punisher sequel that was in the works was canned for War Zone, which turned out to be literally the worst comic movie ever not to include bat nipples. So glad to have this little nugget. Yay Tom Jane!
Thomas Jane needs to come back as The Punisher. He is a huge fan of comics and two of this favorite characters are The Punisher & Jonah Hex.
I really hope Marvel takes notice and decides to hire him for a new Punisher movie. Get a good writer & director and let Jane do his thing. He knows the character extremely well and respects him & the property enough not to screw it up.
@PsychoKnights: You should watch the very first one with Dolph Lungdren (sp?). It was actually pretty good for back in the day and the story had a good edge to it.
I love Thomas Jane's depiction of Castle and think it infinitely superior to Stevenson's depiction in Warzone. With that said...I really cannot get over his part in Hung for me to take him seriously as the Punisher now though...I just can't. Still, this video is well done I think and I was quite entertained watching it. Perlman was awesome, and if I didn't know any better, that was Sammi Rotibi playing the role of the leader of that gang who got barbecued something terrible. This was EXCELLENT.
I would love for them to find a way to incorporate this into the current Marvel Movies. I know the character is crazy violent and I dont feel like he's much of a threat to a well trained hero, but its still FREAKING AWESOME. I like Thomas's portrayal of the Punisher more then the other one we saw.
OMG this is awesome ! Ok it`s a littlebit brutal but it`s Punisher so what do you expect ^^ I would love a second movie with thomas jane !

Thomas Jane did not want to do the second Punisher because he could not get behind the script. I remember reading this back in the day. Good call Thomas, War Zone was crap.

Calling War Zone crap was an insult to crap. It was actually so bad that it looped the scale and became good again if you look at it as a parody film. I laughed my ass off through scenes which were supposed to be serious.
I liked the '04 film. Especially the Director's Cut. Frank making a guy commit suicide was appropriately disturbing, and the thread added to the DC plugged a plot hole. I think if you watch the finale of the film, too, they really showed off the killing machine that Frank is with how he A) used his knife and B) shot a guy in such a disinterested way without even looking at him, that it was darkly funny.
I tried giving War Zone a shot. I seriously, tried to. But...man...that thing was a mess.
If they give Jane the reigns again, which I would like to see, it wouldn't really need to be a reboot. I mean, '04 would just be the origin flick, and we wouldn't need to retread on it. Just start that the way this short film did. Frank's already down the rabbit hole.
Perlman as a Vietnam Vet was awesome, and great job by that bottle of Jack as Jane's co-star.
Any Punisher movie don't need any complicated plot it is just pure and simple kick ass action, like the Expendables. They have an extensive rogue gallery in the Punisher Max (Barracuda, General Zakharov, Nicky Cavella, etc.., and other few characters from the 616 that they can use.
I like the '04 Punisher, but I just felt that it lacked something as far as direction went. Even the director's cut still seemed choppy to me for some reason. I also don't think they took advantage of the R rating (for comparison, look at how great Blade 1 is). But I would like to see Jane get a 2nd chance at it. One other small gripe I have is... Florida? They took Pun out of the grey and mean streets of NYC and stuck him in TAMPA of all places? Maybe to non-Floridians it is not a bad change, but for me, born and raised and living in Florida... let me tell you how incredibly silly and laughable that idea is. Even Miami could have been passable... but Tampa? Uhhhhh...
War Zone... bleh. I turned off War Zone when a little kid SNUCK UP on the Punisher. Really? A little kid? Come on. And the whole 'I feel so guilt here have some money'... GTFO. That was no Punisher flick. The Dolph Lundgren junk was even better than that.
The music from The Dark Knight drove me completely crazy. Otherwise this was quite good. It was weird to me how long it took for him to lay down the punishment though. You'd think he'd step in earlier.
Ummm no. I never liked Jane's Punisher and this doesn't help at all. This is NOT how Castle operates.
This was pretty cool, and I wouldn't mind another Punisher film but this most likely will play into the rumor of the Punisher TV series. I liked both the 04' Punisher and War Zone, both had cool and uncool moments and I may be the minority on this but Stevenson was a more believable Castle with him standing 6'4" while Jane is only 5'11".
Speaking of minority, what was the deal with him not helping that woman and taking so long to help that kid? Call me racist but I'm sure he would've reacted quicker or even immediately if they were white. "I'm gonna go start my laundry while she gets raped and beaten and I'm gonna go grab a YooHoo while the kid gets robbed and beaten, but don't worry I'll give her a chance to get some payback which might land her in jail and the kid gets a shirt with a bullet hole in it."
Maybe movies ruined it for me, but no bottle could've taken that much abuse without breaking.
Wow! I'm surprised this got such a great reaction. I don't normally read a lot of Punisher but is he normally as lazy as he is in this movie? I mean I understand minding your own business but he waited around wayyyyyy too long to do something. Or does Punisher just honestly just not give a s*** about victims?
that 10:15 was better than all three Punishers. Ray has a better look and I actually liked War Zone better. But if they gave Jane and Perlman the chance to write and direct it that would be sweet. I think Marvel really needs to take some notes from DC on the dark and gritty bit. No stupid jokes (like avengers) just a pissed off man on a mission holding nothing back. I've always thought Punisher would be the hardest to write.
