Punisher War Journal Vol. 2 # 14 - Hunter/Hunted, Part 2
is a comic book published by Marvel Publishing & released on 2 / / 2008Plot Summary
Overview
Kraven's back, and Frank Castle's on the hunt in this, the second part of HUNTER/HUNTED. The son of Kraven has gone mad and begun collecting a menagerie of varied and villainous animal characters. The latest baddie he’s hunted down? The RHINO, who he swooped in and kidnapped before The Punisher could frag him. Bad idea. So: Kraven hunts the underbelly of the Marvel Universe to build his posthuman zoo. Punisher hunts Kraven. G.W. Bridge hunts the next member of his team. And what about Rhino? How does HE feel about all this? Not good. Not good at all. Surely it's a bad day for somebody. Hooray!
Rhino is in a line-up with some of his fellow captive villains. Kraven comes in with Aragorn, the winged horse. Rhino wants to know what is going on and is told to shut up. Kraven informs them that they will do what he says. Eat when he feeds them. Speak when he speaks to them. Aragon's patience is at its end. Aragorn rears up which does not please Kraven. Showing his displeasure, he pushes a button on a remote and the captives are splattered with...chunks of horse. Rhino is in a bad bad situation.
Meanwhile, Frank is stuck standing in line at a hot dog stand. His patience is running thin as he has to listen to a man talking loudly on his blue tooth head set. Before he is tempted to do anything, Stuart shows up with information on all of the Kravinoff owned property in the city. Searching the locations brings Frank to the cargo ship.
Inside, Rhino tries talking to Vulture about trying to get their electronic collars off since he's an "engineer or whatever." Vulture is just in a fowl mood. He then shows Rhino why. Kraven has broken his hands, several times. Rhino wants Vulture to talk him through getting the collars off when Kraven comes in with their dinner. He tells them that this will be all they get. Rhino is hungry and begins devouring the slop as Vulture tries stopping him. As soon as Kraven's gone, he tells Rhino that he's eating the horse. Rhino violently vomits.
In Paris, France, the Contessa is being chased by a couple of armored flying men. As she manages to save herself and take them out, G.W. Bridge is waiting to have a word with her about joining his team.
The Punisher makes his way onto the cargo ship. Kraven is in the midst of mixing and drinking another of his strange potions. Frank finds all the captive villains in their makeshift zoo. They are all crazed as a result of one of Kraven's potions. Kraven and the Punisher are soon at a stand-off. Knowing he only has one shot, he decides to shoot the lock on Rhino's cell. He figures that the only thing that Rhino hates more than him is Kraven. As Rhino charges Kraven, he is taken out with one punch. Then he shoots Frank with another dart.
Frank wakes up, handcuffed to a pipe, up to his knees in water. Over some speakers, he hears Kraven tell him that he has let "the dogs" loose on him and the ship is sinking. He tells him his animals are hunting him and challenges Frank to find him as Tiger Shark now stands in front of him, growling.

The art in the last couple of issues has been appropriately over the top as established by Ariel Olivetti for this book, but i do miss his style. But on to the story.
I said in my last review that Kraven came across as "puts the lotion on it's skin" creepy, and it really showed this issue.
I'm not sure what's going through this guy's head, but its not pleasant. It's this under current of danger that grounds the humor of the book(the hot dog scene was great).
The game is on, and Frank may be in over his head. The issue ends in a situation where i'm thinking, "oh damn, he's screwed."
That's the way the second part of a three parter SHOULD end. Fraction is a wiley writer who knows and writes his strengths. That's my take.
