Plot Summary

SPECIAL DOUBLE-SIZED ISSUE! Deep in the Louisiana Bayou with cannibal rednecks in hot pursuit, Frank Castle is in a world of trouble. And if Frank thought Big Earl was a handful, wait until he gets a load of Junior, the Geautreux who makes the rest of the clan look like charm school graduates. To survive, the Punisher just might have to make peace with the cargo he was hauling down the back roads in his trunk - cargo that just got free and wants a little payback.

An open letter to Marvel... please forgive the profanity

After the end of "welcome to the Bayou" there were three supplemental stories, each two pages long.
These stories became a trip down memory lane.
By the end of that trip I was so pissed off about this title changing that I started getting a head ache.
One of the stories in particular, "Father's Day," really got my blood boiling. If you've been reading Punisher MAX since the beginning then you'd know why. It recounted six intense scenes from six different stories and I became instantly pissed off that all of this was coming to an end.

    So here's my letter.

    Dear Marvel,
I hate you. I mean I hate you so much right now. I want to just hate you to death. I want to hate you so much that you just end up falling dead somewhere with blood gushing out of your nose. Why the fcuk would you go through with this FrankenCastle idea? Why would you choose to end this fun, graphic, bloody title which is always deserving of the name in exchange for a fcuking idea so juvenile that even a sixth grader would think it's retarded?! Did your forget how everything blew up in your smug faces when you fcuked with the Punisher years ago during the Marvel Knights kick-off? And now you want to do it again?!?! Where's the logic in that?
Did you also forget that you already have a similar character by the name of Dethklok and that he couldn't support his own title if your life depended on it? And now you want to make the Punisher into what he is? Once again there's no logic there!

This title was never trying to be anything more than what it was.
The only promises that this book made were the ones it kept. The promises about graphic violence, sex, vengeance, profanity, drugs... It kept it's promises. Nothing was too over-the-top for Ennis and this book was always entertaining. All the writers that followed knew the formula, knew what we expected, knew what the book had to live up to, and they delivered as well.

it's a story about violent people living violent lives.
There were never any capes or super villains... Just criminals doing what real criminals do and one man coming for them because that's all he knows now.

Hopefully one day Marvel will make a decision to bring this series back. Maybe not in this form but in some form.

Because I really don't believe that you can have a Punisher series any other way.
This is the way that the Punisher needs to be.
