    The reference on the cover “Chipped Creek” refers to the long time Army mess dish officially called Cream Chipped Beef on Toast, but known to soldiers by it’s more popular name &%#@ on a Shingle.

    And, as you can see, Joe Dope is up Chipped Creek without a paddle.

    For the record the Army stopped serving this dish in the 80’s, however you can still find frozen Cream Chipped Beef in your grousers frozen food section.
