I am glad some people are enjoying this, but I honestly cannot wait until Morrison moves on from the Batman franchise. Much like RIP, there are some cool moments, but they are obscured by general confusion and Morrison's idiosyncrasies. These story lines leave me more frustrated than happy.

I know Morrison fans will say that this is a good complex storyline and the clues are all there (if you go back and read the original material he is referencing); but I don't agree. Just because something is complex and planned out does not make it good. I think a strong writer finds the sweet spot there he gives the readers enough of the clues for a good portion of them to figure it out, without giving it away.  But Morrison is more like when David Lynch is off his game.  instead of being a off-beat masterfully crafted mystery, it is just quirky-for-quirky-sake confusion.

I will never claim to be the smartest person on the planet.  But I do have a P.h.D. and Morrison's Batman stuff leaves me more frustrated and confused than perhaps any other run in the 25 years I have been reading comics.

I picked up this new Batgirl title mostly out of curiosity and the hope that Cassandra Cain would be restored as a strong character. I like Stephanie, but she was not one of my favorite characters. But honestly Bryan Q Miller does such a great job on this title, it is often  my favorite Bat title in any given month. He really made Stephanie a three dimensional character that that was relatable and easy to root for. She has some anxiety and makes mistakes, yet is very capable. When reading her adventures it just seems like a more realistic (I know this is a silly concept in and of its self) portrayal of a real person(and teenager) trying to be a super hero. If you have not given the regular series a try, I would suggest it

I wonder if Rip Hunter is aware that Marvel found his plot foreshadowing device.

And I agree, Bendis has been heading the Marvel ship too long. It is time for another creative voice,

I completely agree. To a large extent, both Marvel and DC have been guided by one or two creators for a few years now. For DC it does not bother me since I tend to love Geoff Johns. However, I have all but stopped reading Marvel because I really am not a fan of Bendis or his story telling.

In the old days it would be easy to avoid a creator or two you disliked, but Bendis has basically been shaping the marvel universe since Avengers DIsassembled. If you like him great, if not then you are like me and have avoided most of the company's output for years.

I think more diversity of writing duties and perhaps a bit of separation between titles would help avoid that.

I would say I agree with some of what was said. I think he is making comment about the darkening of tone of some comics and the useless violence or victimization of characters. I am all for mature comics and violence, but I think what he is referring to is the trend of writers who use these things as lazy tools to shock readers. It seems that both Marvel and DC seems to be shifting back a bit with Heroic Age and Brightest Day.

However, I would disagree with the statement that comics are meant for kids and that somehow DC and Marvel have turned their back on those audiences. Sure there was a bit of innocence to the Silver Age comics, but Stan Lee was trying to tackle adult issues of the time that society permitted. Sure, kids could still enjoy Angel punching Magneto without understanding the metaphors of mutants and discrimination, but that does not mean they were not there.

I would argue that if you had a young child and walked into a comic store now, you have a ton of options. Granted most of the mainstream titles might be inappropriate for younger children, but I think Marvel and DC have a ton of titles catering to all ranges of kids. Things like Tiny Titans, Power Pack & Thor, Teen Titans (animated), Brave and the Bold reach many different ages of children.

I really enjoyed this video, one of the many reasons I love this site. I would like to see more reviews of good hidden gems. I can think of many from my collection.

Not sure who will die; but if Marvel editing staff keeps with the status quo, I am guessing their replacement will be either Deadpool or Wolverine. Or perhaps "Dark Deadpool" or "Dark Wolverine"

Yeah, I think it has been a bit of a slow burn so far. I guess time will tell if this all pays off in the end, or just kind of meanders like Countdown did. I guess I have enough faith in Geoff Johns that this is going to come together in the end, though I a couple of epic story beats early on would go a long way to convincing readers to hang in there.
