Hey Everyone! Here is a very cool colab I did with the amazing 3D artist David Abreras . This is a character design I did for a personal comic I was working on but never had the time to finish back in 2006, I should really pick it up again sometime. Anyways...David asked me if he could use the character for modeling, couple of months later he showed me the final result and I was breathless. At first I thought it was my drawing just painted on top, then I looked closely and saw how close he kept the model to my concept. This was really exiting since this was the first time I've ever seen my character being represented by someone else in 3d, and boy he did a fantastic job. So...for those 3d artist outhere who are interested into the backstage work of David on this piece, check out the 3dtotal article/tutorial. http://www.3dtotal.com/tutorial/softimage_xsi/pirate_sandoje_character_modeling/sandoje_pirate_modeling_01.php
About a month ago my brother bought an Ipad, at first I wasn’t convinced about it but after using it couple of times (mainly because my brother made me and I was bored at Chillli’s waiting for my breakfast) I have to admit it’s quite amazing.
The idea of having a digital sketchbook is great. I was even thinking of getting one. But the thing is: It doesn’t have pressure sensitivity on the table, you can’t use a pen, only your fingers, and besides there aren’t many programs for drawing (the one I used is sketchbook pro, it’s similar to Photoshop).
The good thing: it has pressure sensitivity and you can use pen.
The bad thing: It doesn’t have any colors!!
I’m really hoping next generation of tablets from these companies will take it to the next level.
For ASUS ,to use colors on the screen on the tablet and for Apple to put some pressure sensitivity on the tablet. It can be that hard. I’m sure Steve Jobs will be reading this and listen.
MEANWHILE I leave you with 2 sketches I made on Ipad.
