I never could understand why people hate so hard on CAD. I figure that having PA and PVP hate it gives it a big handicap either way.

Dial H certainly does not sound like it should be a mainline DC book. Way more like a Vertigo title. But you could still say that about Animal Man and Swamp Thing. It's more like Vertigo is books with less press. I've read some great China Miville. I've also read Iron Council, which is one the worst pieces of garbage I've seen in years. The man does always have amazing ideas, so given the constraints of comics, maybe he won't sprawl as much as he is prone to.

I was thinking about this yesterday. Since Batman's Arkham games have arguably the best melee combat system in a game ever, the comic book character to star in games that rip that system off should be appropriate. This year's Captain America game tried but fell short. I think The Punisher would be a good fit. With the added bonus of being able to make it more violent. I invision a game with plenty of improvised weapons and stabbing.

I have not cared about continuntity since pretty much when I learned it's definition.  When I was a kid I learned the histories of the characters, but even then I read a pretty limited selection of comics.  I didn't have the cash to buy lots of 75¢ books.  I wasn't reading 5 Spidermans, or The Avengers and the FF.  So I mostly wasn't exposed to it.  The idea that the incredibly convoluted, intricate, and (almost by definition) unbelievable stories should hold together into some cohesive whole is insane to me.  A good story isn't about how well it adheres to continuty, it's about how interesting the characters and interactions are.  When a book comes out and the first comment I hear from a fan is "the hair is wrong" I feel like they are cheating themselves of so much.

i hope it returns. from what i read and hear from people, power girl was more or less like she hulk for DC. a smartly written book about a super attractive female superhero with... assets.

This.  I'm adult enough to admit that I first tried Power Girl out because of the boobs.  But I stuck with it because it was entertaining.  I like the idea of a hero who has fun.  Who's life isn't an endless slog.  Who doesn't spend every second reliving past trauma or trying to keep their loved ones safe is refreshing.  She's like a Spider Man who didn't kill his uncle and is well endowed.  Plus DC mostly spared the series from crossovers.  At least in the first year.  I personally hate it when my stories are held hostage in another book.  It was so nice to just have to buy one book to get the story.

Like song covers, I like homage comic cover pages best when they are big departures from the original.  Like the large number of Powers covers that were from movie posters (Blade Runner, Clockwork Orange) or albumcovers.  The more the homage changes the original the more interesting it is.  I think Spiderman homages to Spiderman are really lazy.  But if you have a Frazetta-like style doing a Spiderman homage for a Sweet Tooth issue, that is something I'll get on board with.  I think it works very well for humorous comics.  The promotional comics for the video game Super Meat Boy has an excellent AC#1 parody.

I'm not big on hero titles but I do follow a few.  My least favorite thing in all of comics is stories hopping between books.  For the same reason I don't buy into huge crossover events that will end up costing me over $100 to read the whole story, I don't like having the storyline I'm following being held hostage in some book I don't care about.  If DC did a lot less of that I might follow more of thier titles.

I would put a lot of value on a line of comics that were promised to never branch into other titles.

I'm still more interested in which existing titles aren't coming back.  I need my Secret Six.

If Superman has an American Citizenship to renounce, it means he can no longer enter the US at all.  Ever.  I'd love to see that storyline.  With the government decrying or attacking Superman for illegally trying to help them.

Technically it also means he has to prove he doesn't own money to the IRS (the US tax service).  People used to use it as a tax dodge is why that rule is there.
