Newbie Explores the Bat

So I'm new to this whole thing and I think that since so many comic readers are long time fans that they can forget what it's like to just be starting out.  So this blog is going to be about my journey into this world.
Let me start with some background.
I was reading a story, I don't remember what exactly, and they made a reference to Steve Trevor. I had NO idea who it was so I looked it up on wikipedia. A little while later and a hand for of clicked links I read something about the recently killed Bruce Wayne. I was shocked, horrified and more than a little confused.  Above all though I HAD to know what happened.  Thus I have now been sucked into the Dark Knight's world trying to simultaneously keep up with current events and fill in huge holes in my knowledge of the backstory, including learning about a variety of characters I'd never heard of.
It's completely addictive though.  You start out simple reading Batman then the next thing you know you're reading back issues of Teen Titans and Adventure Comics because Tim ran into Conner in Red Robin and you had NO idea what they were talking about.  So far I've had to pick up current or back issues of Batman, Detective Comics, Red Robin, Batman and Robin, Batgirl, Birds of Prey, Titans, Teen Titans, Adventure Comics, JLA, Justice League of America, Robin, Nightwing, Outsiders plus various crises and Blackest Night not to mention various limited series and one shots. All I can say is that I'm glad not all of these are currently running and my brother had some of them. :D
I'm totally in love with Red Robin. I think it's great. It's a little funnier than some of the other Gotham series and I love the style.

The first comic I read was Battle for the Cowl #1, talk about a weird place to start.
