I didn't think they were anywhere near ready for this... but I guess making a movie in 17 months isn't unheard of these days. It'll be interesting to see if this is true.

one series graduated and went on to more big things while the other series reverted back to going to school in a fail attempt to recreate the old days.

This is my problem with UXM. Just because they brought all the mutants together and they live on an island does not mean the series graduated or improved. The original purpose of the X-men was to be peacekeepers and educators. I feel like WATXM is trying to go back to that. I personally do not see how they fail. Sure the art style isn't the greatest, but the storyline is fun and the characters are growing and changing. I feel like WATXM has a more interesting future ahead, where as UXM is kind of lost.

I really like this point. Back when the New Mutants first started in the 80's it was made clear that they were NOT meant to be the next generation of X-Men. Xavier's school was to teach mutants to control their powers & therefore not be mis-interpreted as a threat to society... Not to fight to protect a world that hates & fears them. The kids haven't really had much of an education since they moved to San Francisco/Utopia, yet they are all of an age where they should be in school and/or moving on to college. So I don't see the school a a backwards step at all :)

Psylocke's ninja swimsuit is the laziest and ugliest costume on the team, currently, and I maintain that making her a ninja was the worst step back for her character that could have been implemented. And the leg ribbons always annoyed me. I think remaking a character just because you want a ninja on the team is irresponsible (just make a new character...). Trading powerful telepathy for inconsistent power levels and a non-powerhouse physique is not a good move. I kind of liked her style during the Claremont '80s and her character progression back then. I kind of liked her original outfits and would rather she go either armored or more stylish approach.

Totally agreed! I can accept that for the sake of a thousand used tissues, Marvel will never change Psylocke back. But that ninja-swimsuit has got to be smelly! At least the Lady Mandarin outfit had armour, a silly large restricting helmet & class :)

    • Hope's whole outfit - I don't like the tattered scarf thing and I wish she didn't have Rogue's colors as well as her abilities. Generally I think Hope needs to be rebranded however. I liked her when she was basically just "Young Cable."

I never thought of it as Rogue colours. Maybe it's because the colour palette of superhero fashion is so limited? anyway, I always saw it as Phoenix colours... the new Jean Grey! ;)

But yeah, the tattered scarf was cool when travelling through space in a terrible future... but it seems pretty pointless now that she's returned to present day 'civilisation'. Although I do realise that no-one on Utopia ever gets changed & therefore they have no stores for her to go shopping... but surely they could at least loan her one of Rogue's old capes? ;p

I liked the way that the X-Corp had branches around the world. Unfortunately, we almost never got to see any of those other teams except as cameos for whatever Wolverine adventure happened to drift by them at the time.

I agree with you. I actually liked the X-Corp set up. It seemed like they were trying to do a similar thing with the Mutants Sans Frontieres - I guess this took a back seat once Archangel got tangled up with X-Force.

I thought it was M-Day that put an end to the X-Corp? Either way, they should try it again... well, when they have enough mutants to spread around the world again ;)
