Multiple powered Characters and their powers, thoughts...

Now yes, there are a lot of characters like this...from Superman to Hulk, to Wolverine, etc etc. But what are everyone's thoughts on multiple powered characters? Me personally I don't really like them, in the sense I can like the character but their power just kinda makes them able to do anything and makes fanboys(or fangirls) to think their favortive character can do whatever they want. Now yes...some characters are made to be multiple powered, and that is fine but not everyone and their next door neighbor should be like that....of course sure multiple powered characters have died but only by fighting a character of equal strength or they themselves are the death of the character.

Really, if a character has just one power. Lets say...Super Speed, then that character should be the fastest at using speed compared to Superman who has super speed but also a variety of other powers to use. (Flash racing Superman) Now that makes sense, because Flash...thats his power, speed all he can do whereas Superman can fly, heat vision, super strength, ice breath, etc etc.  Not saying Superman would be slower then every other speedster, since that hasn't been established but you get my point here.

I mean really think on it, does it make sense for one character to have one power and another character who has that power on top of others to be better then that guy with that one power in using that power?....No not really, because then what would be the point of having that one powered character?

Now yes we like these characters, I like them too..its just making them as powerful as they are just seems kinda...bad.  It would make more sense, for the powers to balance out.

I felt the same way too,I heard people say that superman is faster than the flash Dc Universe online.I feel that Flash should be a much more efficient user of Super Speed than superman since that is his main power.

Well, it depends on the character. I'm not a big fan of overly powerful characters like Superman for this reason, but I do like multiple powers to a degree. A perfect example of this is Geo-Force!

Most of my favorite characters happen to have one power though (Black Lightning, Poison Ivy, Halo, etc.)

It's really a matter of how a character is used. Characters with multiple powers can be used to tell different kinds of stories than characters with just one power.

If a hero is not multiple powered, wouldn't that make the hero boring? I mean, basically every superhero is multi powered. Super strength,durability,stamina are probably the powers of every superhero. Even Flash has other powers other than super speed.

It doesn't really bother me most of the time. Starman, Sandman, and Geo-Force are all examples of characters with multiple powers done right.

@Dark_Moolahs:  Its not that multiple powered heroes are a bad thing, whats bad is when the powers aren't balanced out to make things equal with the other powers they have. For instance

Hero A: Has super strength, flight, super speed, healing factor.

Hero B: Only has super strength.

Now Hero A should have good super strength, but Hero B should have higher strength because that is his main power whereas Hero A the power set should be divided amongst his strength, flight, speed and healing factor. Hero A shouldn't have insane super strength, or insane super speed or an insane healing factor it should all balance out.

In this situation Hero B has no super durability and so would injure / kill himself v quickly.

@The_Thunderer:  Well I was pretty much implying that super strength and super durability go hand in hand, seeing as they are commonly used together.

@Wolfrazer: You multi-powered your character.

@The_Thunderer:  Yes I know, again this isn't about multiple powered heroes being bad its that their powers go off the charts. Someone with Super Strength/Durability should be better then the guy who has both of those things + super speed + a healing factor + whatever other power they got. The latter hero shouldn't have powers that go off the chart, they should balance out.
