Well the title "The Dark World" would lead one to think the villains would be the Dark Elves. Personally, depending on how much time Thor spends on earth, I wouldn't mind having a complementary earth villain(s).
DC has been doing fine since the New 52. Really the only complaints I've heard are from disgruntled fanboys. As a longtime Marvel reader who never gave DC a shot, I have to say I'm enjoying the hell out of it along with other new readers to the DCU.
The area DC needs to step up in is in the cinema...
I thought the ending was incredibly cheesy, found the first act boring, and strongly disliked about five characters. Although there were various elements in the middle such as the prison scenes and first Bane fight that I enjoyed. For me it was definitely the worst of the trilogy, and would have no urge to give it another chance if I wasn't such a fan of the genre.
I might have gone with Bane if Nolan and co didn't completely ruin his character towards the end. I'll go with Loki especially since he improved a lot since Thor.
Comics- Quality between the two has switched back and forth ever since Marvel clearly was the best in the 60's. I'd give the edge to DC currently because I'm enjoying a good 50-60% of their comics in the New 52.
Video Games- Don't care at all. Not only do I not care for them, but they're a poor indicator for a company's success.
Movies- Marvel easily. Donner's Superman and Burton's Batman has aged poorly, and everything else but Nolan's Batman has been a bust. Marvel has owned the cinema since 2000, and clearly has a better future at the movies than DC with the MCU and succesful reboots of X-men and Spider-man.
