You know something; You're exactly right!

That's exactly the problem with Chaos War - it was rushed.

It should have been 7 to 10 issues long with longer battles.

Exactly! Like when Herc powered up all those heroes then within like one or two pages there all asleep! I was like wtf! Where's the big battle haha

I sometimes feel that Marvel rushes certain story lines which have the potential to be amazing but then they dont get the chance to be amazing! boo :-(

@White Angel Of Death: Yes his part where Hercules disguises as Thor is the most funny of the volume. Also he showed to be very mature when he apologizes to Hera.

Now diferent to put diferent Zeus'es.Two Saint Seiya Sacred Saga's Zeus fanarts.

@codesaint: The percy jackson version looks funny lol Not very Zeus like but I like it,. Not too keen on the Saint Seiya's Zeus Fanart! Just looks too weird for me lol

I quite like the look of him here with that lightning bolt
love this too!

Here are a couple of shots of old Zeus.

@PowerHerc: I was never a big fan of the zeus that was in the Ares mini series. He just seemed to old and weak

But the one of him fighting Thor was awesome!
Posted by PowerHerc

@White Angel Of Death:

I didn't like the white hair for Zeus in the Ares mini, but I did like the illuminated armor.

Good point about him being depicted to weakly, though. You're quite right.

I don't know it you know or not, but the page where Zeus is battling Thor is from "Thor Annual" #7.

Posted by White Angel Of Death
@PowerHerc: The armour was pretty awesome! I am now reading Thor Annual #7 on marvel digital comics but that fight is nowhere in this issue?

Dude, I'm an idiot. I got the issue wrong. It's from Thor Annual #8. It's set during the Trojan War.

Hahaha its cool! Unfortunately MDC don't have that issue :'( Means a trip to forbidden planet or Plan Nine or the creepy dude with the dog "Do you want to come down stairs, i have a bigger collection there".........eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek
Posted by PowerHerc

@White Angel Of Death: Lol. Good luck with that, but I hope you get a chance to see it; Zeus throws Thor around pretty easily, as I recall.

Posted by White Angel Of Death
@PowerHerc: I think if Forbidden Planet or Plan nine dont have it ill look online before i resort to going to the creepy guy! I've heard quite a bit about it in the battle forum. People keep saying that Thor could take Zeus because of this fight lol

People who say that are a little bit to fan-boyish for Thor. Zeus would kick Thor's ass.

i'm sorry powerherc but i thought  that part entirely BS
especially zues taking a galactus shot without even fazing then hercy killing him like he was nothing( i'm aware of herc's power in the event)
it seems when they want to show how strong a guy is he has to bitchslap galactus
and the ultra tired excuse is that he was hungry

Or if you had read it properly you would've seen that chaos king was actually in zeus's body therefore empowering him enough to take on galactus

I know it may be somewhat juvenile of me, but I always like seeing those images posted. I think it is because Hulk's most vocal fans insist he is unbeatable to anyone if "angry" enough and Pak was writing the Hulk as particularly powerful and unbeatable. Yet not only did Zeus give Hulk the worst beating of his life, but comments by Pak imply Hulk was trying to fight back and simple overwhelmed. It was Pak's way of showing that Hulk was not the end all and be all of power.

I get your point about Galactus basically becoming a plot device used to demonstrate how powerful others are. Opinions vary, but I still thought it looked cool.

I can understand what you mean by the image looking cool, but I have to agree with higher_evolutionary about Galactus being the go to guy that is chumped to show the latest threat. I think that sadly illustrates one of the greatest problems with Chaos War. The inflated power levels were so high they made even Galactus useless. Herc spent all of #2 gathering the God Squad only for it to be so far out of its depth that gathering them was a waste of time. The only saving graces is once again we have the "Galactus was hungry" on top of the "Zeus was augmented by Mikaboshi" excuses.

I think higher_evolutionary was pointing out how Galactus has become a jobber in general not just in the case of the "Chaos War."

@powerherc: I understand what he meant. Sorry if I went a bit on a rant. I am sort of a fan of Galactus and cosmic characters so I generally dislike it whenever Galatus (or nearly any character barring a few exceptions) are tossed under a bus to illustrate how powerful a new threat is. Chaos War was a special disappointment for me because there was so much wasted potential. This was Herc's moment to shine and lead the gods in a huge universe-wide war with all of creation at stake. It was Herc's event! His chance to prove to everyone beyond doubt that he is more than a second-rate Thor. And what do we get? Hercules the buffoon in a story that feels like its three issues of set up with power levels so high they make DBZ look ridiculous, everyone else save two characters useless, and a bunch of other plot holes and wasted opportunities. Sadly, some of the tie-ins were better than the main series.

I agree with everything you state.

Galactus was misused. Herc's moment to shine was totally mishandled. Most of the set-up and the characters involved in the "Chaos War" were indeed unnecessary. It's really too bad.

Marvel really dropped the ball with Chaos War and has turned many of their iconic characters (Galactus, Thing, Thor) into jobbers.
