Favorite Male Heroes/Anti-Heroes of All Time

This list is primarily DC, because that is what I read, but I might include some characters from different companies.

List items

  • The first superhero that I truly looked up to. To me, he is the greatest superhero of all time, due to the fact that he is human. He is a flawed individual, but is the fact that he overcomes his personal fears, and problems that has succeeded.

  • The first Robin, and one of the coolest heroes that I grew up with. When he first debuted as Nightwing and saw what he struggled with Bruce, I saw him as an awesome character. His growth, and his personality has made him one of my personal favorites of all time.

  • I was first introduced to Jason while watching Under the Red Hood about three years ago. He is actually the reason why I started reading comics. I see him as the Robin I relate to the most, and I absolutely love his character. Though I don't like what Morrison did with him, Red Hood and the Outlaws has become one of my favorite titles out of the New 52.

  • First saw the Emerald Archer while watching Justice League Unlimited. One of the coolest characters I have seen, and known. Though he might be considered the Batman with the bow and arrow, it his is style, and personality that makes me love his character.

  • The Robin I personally grew up with on the small screen. I began reading comics just as he took the mantle of Red Robin, and though I didn't like the initial change, his growth and detective skills made him a favorite of mine. Though I am not keen on his New 52 appearance, I am hopeful I can begin to like the Robin I knew as a child.

  • I have a place in my heart for this guy. First saw him in the Watchmen film, and looked through his history in the iconic storyline, and even glanced at Before Watchmen. It is his commitment to justice through no compromise that solidified his spot on my list.

  • I first saw Mr. Harper in Teen Titans, and though like GA in style and weapon choices, he was a suave and cool guy. I looked through his troubled past, and only grew more interested. He was a loving, and caring father, and the death of Lian Harper drove him to dark places. I felt for him, and was ecstatic when I saw him in the pages of Red Hood and the Outlaws.

  • As a Cajun myself (I go to University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the Home of the Rajun Cajuns!) I love that we have something in common. A thief, X-Man, and all-round badass, there is no way that Gambit couldn't make this list. Tried to read his new series in Marvel, but I didn't like what the writer was doing with him.

  • Logan is one of the biggest badasses in the history of badasses, to ignore him for the simple fact that he is a Marvel character is criminal. His past is filled with incredible stories, and I am interested as to what Marvel is up with him.

  • As much as I hate to admit it (Im a die hard DC guy), Marvel's archer 100% deserves this spot. His new series is a high point for Marvel, and his recent exposure in Avengers has shown what Clint has to offer.

  • After I caught up with AvX, and started reading the new Uncanny X-men, it is hard to not sympathize with Scott Summers and it is exciting to see his future unfold.
