So many thing from my childhood that I remember being awesome turn out to be... less so. Like any Scooby doo cartoon (back when it was always a guy in a suit and not a real monster); the original transformers (though still a lot better than any modern update), the three amigos (God I loved that film and how it does suck now). Thundercats I recall watching religiously and having an awesome intro whose animation quality was far better than the actual show. I haven't seen it in over ten years and I'm hoping that's how it shall remain. Too often I've watched something I used to love only to discover its crap.

To me this new version looks too anime for my liking. Still, I accept this isn't directed toward a 30 year old surly social misfit like me. Seems like its going in a different direction than the original. And I did not see Mumm-Ra so that's a big no-no for me.

Well if Mark Millar says it will be great then I'm sure it will be...
Problem with that is I don't believe any of the hype Millar spouts about his own work so his opinion about a showbiz chum's own is worthless.
Matthew Vaughn's work to date has been okay (haven't seen nor intend to see Kick Ass) and, like Layer Cake, this features an attractive lady in her underwear, so its got that going for it. I'm hopeful for this movie; I've liked James Mcavoy since Children of Dune, Fassbender was great in the otherwise awful Inglorious and I'm always glad to see Jason Flemying getting work. Give this movie a chance.
And never, ever, believe anything Mark Millar says. That's just common sense.

The whole "webbing out of wrists" thing was icky to me. As for the mechanical ones, well he is a genius. I managed to make a suit of power armour when I was about eight. Okay, it was cardboard and as my brother proved not very protective (he delivered a savage knee strike or knee-a-beer as we called them to my hip) but by god I invented it and would have no doubt gone to making a more practical and powerful power-suit later in life if I had any engineering expertise or personal fortune. And I was just a simple welsh lad of average intellligence in the real world. Peter parker is a genius in a comic-book world so the bugger can damn well create what he likes. Nowadays (a phrase to show my age) I think movie makers get too caught up in the hole reality vibe. This new spider-man franchise reboot thing doesn't interest me but it does sound like its going in a better direction than the Raimi/Maguire one

Going out on a limb here... but isn't it much to early to judge the movie?
Sure, great trailers can make crap films look good (yes, I fell for both Transformers movies) but by the same token crap trailers can make good films look cobblers (the JJ Abrhams star trek in my opinion; it showed a generic desert world, generic ice world generic space battle, explosions, half nude alien chick etc). The Wolverine trailer made that look awesome (and yes, I did enjoy it but not as much as I thought I would). Ditto Spiderman 3 (and that film was so bad it made me cry, in a manly way).

Me, I'm going to act like this has bugger all to do with the previous x-men s'movies and quietly look forward to seeing it. It may be great, it may be okay, it may be so crap it'll be like spiderman 3 (doubt that's possible though). The trailer doesn't generate the same amout of "oh that looks ******* awesome" that the Thor and Captain America trailer's do, but as far as first looks go its good in my opinion.

Whilst I really like the character I think he's one of those that would be really hard to translate into cinematic form. His origins are perhaps too mystical/magical (mind you, look at Thor). Mind you, if they did adapt the Mindwarp (that the right name? The one with the Fury and Mad Jim Jaspers) it would be a dark, gritty yet fantastic story showing the character at its best.
Unfortuantely, as you pointed out, the character is not that well known.

As much as the Dark Knight killed my interest in this Batman series I'm glad to see Bane as a villain and even better its played by Tom Hardy. As a lot of people have said he was great in Bronson and is generally a damn good actor. Sure the concept of the Bane character sounds silly but he's far more intelligent and dangerous than first appears. Let's not forgot that (even though I can't watch the Dark Knight) Nolan made the Joker a truly formidable and unsettling villain.
As for Anne Hathaway as Catwoman; she's beautiful and talented but do we really need Catwoman?

I still can't really get over my prejuidice for this movie after hearing the whole "high school drama angle" from the earliest days of its production and something about this costume doesn't improve matters. Its not as if I hold the Raimi trilogy in high regard because 3 killed it for me like university killed my hopes and dreams. And its not my innate hatred of any other dude who is better looking and a lot skinnier than me. I have such low hopes for this "reboot" that only if the first non teaser trailer is so awesome  that it makes me feel guilty about my pre-judgement will I become interested in this movie

I prefer to be physically able to hold the comic/book.  I have an ipad and whilst I have kindle and have purchased two books, its just not the same experience reading from it. I haven't even bothered to check out the comic apps on the ipad as a result
