Wouldn't know, neither my slim nor the Phat ever over heated. I was pointing out the YLOD that pops up in the phat system due to heat screwing up the GPU or CPU.  
Not sure which one, it requires a heatgun to reflow it though.

"Well, I bought a used Xbox 360 about three weeks ago. So what is going to happen? Will I get the "red ring of death" eventually? I always keep it in a cool place, and I only play for about three hours. I heard the only thing that causes it is when you play for 18 hours or so. LOL "

Honestly the hardest part of the game is the meteorite cannon portion. Outside that it shouldn't be all too confusing, DS gives you a little light line to follow. :P
I personally never even used the map or really took long solving anything.(Although if you have questions, you could either watch the "Let's play" Deadspace videos to help you out when you get confused or  PM me.) 

The only console that heat really eats up was probably the old phat PS3 and that's  because you can play PS2 on it. (Although the YLOD can be fixed by reflowing it, assuming you do it right and have the tools to do it).  
PS3 slim not having (Currently, Sony has it patented and will likely release a new version of the slim that can play PS2 games) PS2 compatibility doesn't have the problem and I've left it on quite abusively.  
Although I like my phat more, mainly because I'm a bigger fan of things that I can beat people to death with, that and the fact I can play my PS2 games on it. 
 
I think I've heard about a RROD fix for the new model, but I'm not sure. Google is your friend!

No. Reach makes Halo 3 pretty much absolete. The gameplay has greatly improved. Its a better game all around. You got to get Reach dude "
Agreed. Reach campaign was incredible, especially the last mission

Get it, I just got a slim yesterday and sold my old 360 for 100 bucks, the Slim is incredible, it's quiet and lightweight.  The controller feels amazing also.
Just make sure you get the one with 250gb, you may have to get it online though since most stores sell out quick, I checked 7 Gamestops before getting mine on Amazon

Dirt cheap by now.  
I've seen people selling 13 dollars or lower on Amazon and generally where ever you buy it, it should be under 20 dollars.

Well the older it gets and not RLODs the luckier you are.  
The failure rates of the older Xbox 360's(Not sure about the new models) are pretty high.

The basement is the coolest/coldest place in the house.... It's been there ever since.
 
Doesn't help. All classic 360's go through the same thing with the red rings.

Probably AC II despite the new one being pretty much better than the first, the easy counter killing everything and the not as cool super outfit brought it down for me. :P 
Although it's tough thinking as this year having the super best games, but to be fair I didn't touch a few select possible winners that a lot of people have praised.

Hmmm Black OPs and Halo Reach were both disappointments Red Dead was good  so was Alan Wake I'm really not sure

Sorry I really can't help you with that as there isn't a Gamestop where i live. I bought mine from a shop that I barely even remember what it's called. There's no such thing as buying used or renting games where I live unless you look really hard.

@Edamame:  It's one of the hardest games to come out in a long time. You WILL die a lot. Especially at first. That the point though. (cough *soul form* cough) The multiplayer is brilliant (the way it works is 100% unique). So is the PvP. It an RPG... but one of it's kind. I have a level 135 Royal,the highest you can go is 755 but most people stop at 120 for PvP because you have to stay within 10 levels of someone else to invade/join their game. This game is one of a kind. The world system is reminiscent of Diablo. 
 
Oh and when you beat the game it goes into NG+ mode and you keep all your stuff and you keep going into NG++ and so on. It gets harder and harder. Kinda like Diablo in that way too.

Except for the sports part, I totally agree with you. Also, the new DLC is excellent, totally worth it.
