@danhimself: Agreed. And it's not like the X-Men can go much more downhill than they are already are.

@god_spawn: I have high hopes...Stuart Immonen is doing the art and it looks great so hopefully Bendis brings his A game because with it's premise it could turn into a very good series

@danhimself: At least Bendis is writing the teen versions of the 05. He is pretty good at writing the younger characters like Ultimate Spider-Man and he seems genuinely excited for the series and some of his recent Avengers issues and AvX 11 (compared to the other issues) have been generally solid. If he keeps up the momentum he could do some good things with the series IMO.

coming to the future might not have long term effects on them but it will have long term effects on the other characters....imagine how you'd feel if your past self came to the present and was disappointed in what you've become...that's my guess at least

exactly....if it's done well then it could make for some really good character interactions and development....hopefully Bendis brings the same level of writing to this as he does with Ultimate Spider-man and the Spider-men crossover

I have said before that this seems like a good idea for a mini or even a maxi series but for the long term it is unworkable because they have to go back and unless they want the entire Marvel Universe to change they will have to forget what they saw in the future. Also now that Wolverine will be the likely leader of the X-Men is he going to let these five loose or try to protect them. The whole reason for the Schism was the treatment of the younger mutants as soldiers when they should be children, which was a invented out of thin air cause Wolverine nevered mentioned that attitude before the Schism. If he does not try to keep them out of trouble then the whole Schism was meaningless and a fraud, it was a hugh plot contrivance to begin with. 

As for the the fives finding out about their future selves, there will definitely be several shocking revelations. Scott was more unsure of himself and will probable be surprised at the Alpha male he turned into, let alone the Phoenix stuff. I do not know if Jean will be more shocked that her future self is dead, that she married Scott, that she has several alternate reality children running around, all older than her, or tha she wasalso a host for the Phoenix and did far worse things than Cyclops. Henry will no doubt be surprised at his physical transformation but upon reflection be impressed at his achievements, not to mention that he has a super hot girlfriend. Warren is probable in for a rough time learning what has happened to him and Bobby the goofball might be surprised that he has changed the least among them.

Bendis said that the O5 will be around for the long haul but after the inital drama of "OMG JEAN IS BACK" and "OH NOES THE FUTURE IS TERRIBLE" I don't see any real stories worth telling. The worst part is that they don't just randomly appear, Beast brings them to the future. As if I don't hate the guy enough already he has to go and screw around with time travel.
