If I remember correctly, Perez is v2. Best to ignore v1 or, if I have some spare time, just start from 1 and follow the river?

I'm torn between going back 10 years or so and starting from there, and going to the very beginning. I'm a perfectionist that way as well, which can be tiresome. There's such a vast amount of X-Men comics, it would take me a year of constant reading to catch up.

If there is some Marvel event that completely rebooted all the characters and their origins, maybe I'll read a couple of issues from there to get the gist, you know something along those lines?

So the consensus is to start with Perez and then Ruckas. Perez's is an origin story?

I have some minor experience in reading X-Men (Astonishing from 2004, enjoyed it), but I decided to take on a massive task of reading most of the X-Men comics out there.

I'm not interested in reading selected issues to gain some minor background knowledge and then jump head first into new releases.

Also, I realize there are 2 or 3 topics similar to this, asking how to start reading Xs, but...forgive and forget.

What would be the best way to (if that is even possible, it'll take months of course) read through (almost) all X-Men comics :

  • chronologically (i.e. Marvel's official reading order on Wikia), thus slicing runs and not reading issue after issue
  • storyline-by-storyline (I won't say run-by-run) to get at least some sense of stability and continuity, yet trying to read them in order they happened
  • or selected (and if this is the chosen option, I'd like a big list) fan-favorite runs, stand-alone issues, or books?

Share your experience, personal taste and suggestions, anything you can think of. Greatly appreciated :)

Thanks, I'll look into it. Just spent under an hour reading overviews of Diana, her mother and aunt, Themyscira etc., really like the setting of the character, great potential for interesting story arcs. Now to catch up on 60 years of this...

So, I know nothing about her except that she's an Amazon, wields the lasso of truth, can fly and is part of the so-called trinity. Sure I watched JLA cartoon as s kid, but putting that aside - never read a single page about her. What would you recommend me to start with? I thought v3 from 2006, but it says that Donna's WW at the start, so I guess this is a follow-up of some sort? I'd like to start with the core beginnings of the character.

I read Spider-Man comics as a kid, like most of us did, but stopped doing so in Junior school. I grew up with him being my #1 hero, and with recent buzzing and hyping up for the next movie, due out in July, I decided to learn Peter Parker (now, I deny the existence of Morales) and everything Spidey from the inside out.

What is your respectful opinion on how I should read the Spider-Man comics, chronologically speaking?

There's The Amazing Spider-Man, The Astonishing Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, The Ultimate Universe, Spider-Man, The Spectacular Spider-Man and much more - and I want to read them all. What's the best way to do it? Maybe this topic will help someone else to brush up on their Spidey knowledge as well. Keep the suggestions coming.

At first I didn't like the new suit, but it's really grown on me (get it?), #1 by far.
