When it comes to art in general, I thoroughly enjoy ones that mix a realistic look with a fantastical look. The most obvious example of this would be Alex Ross and his work on Kingdom Come.

When I first started figuring out as a kid that these superheroes I watched in movie and TV form like Superman and Batman, the first image that really caught my eye when I looked up comics was the cover for Alex Ross's Kingdom. The pictures were just amazing to me because his art made these gods seem so real and I imagined what all these heroes would look like if they were right next to me. From there I started to take interest in comics and began just reading a lot of Batman because he was and still is my favourite hero.

My current favourite Cover Art comes from Dustin Nguyen. I first caught his work through Comicvine's weekly feature that shows off art work by different artist from their tumblr sites. Dustin Nguyens drawing of Batman was an immediate favourite of mine and from that point on I followed most of the work he has done to this point. When him and Scott Snyder teamed up to do American Vampire: Lord of Nightmare it seemed like a match made in heaven.

I would be lying to myself if I didn't include Jackson Guice, the current artist for Winter Soldier. Similar to Alex Ross, I found that the cover's of Winter Soldier was a beautiful mix of real and fantastical and immediately drew me to the series. The pages just seem to come alive because of the art style and make the story even more engaging.

Never judge a book by its cover is a saying that has its merits but there are times when you can judge a book by its cover and know that you will love it.
