@vegandiet: the recent series(his run ends on issue six)

Anyways team one wins

I'm pretty sure that's Warren Ellis.

Aww man, now I'm bummed. I thought Garth Ennis had written some Moon Knight that I wasn't aware of. That would have been awesome.

Steve and Bruce.

Moonknight would lose to either or. (Though I thought Ennis' run with the character was fantastic).

Ennis wrote Moon Knight?!

@pwok21: I like Landis' vid on Superman, but I tend to disagree with caveats. Poorly written Spidy can come across like a bully, but the joker antics were created in a very different time in his book. Spiderman got shellacked in his early outings, jobbers like the Scorpion could give him a really hard time. Firstly, I have to imagine the joking was a strategy to keep the baddies off centre while he fought them. Second writing wise it was also a way to keep the book light. Third, the villains didn't snap because Spider-man made fun of them, they were already hurting people before he showed up. Lastly it was meant to show an increased confidence difference for when he put the mask on, as Peter hiding his powers he continued to be picked on, and couldn't go making witty comebacks to people bullying him, as Spider-man able to go all out he could also tell those attacking them to shut up in smart funny ways, I'm sure he wished he could have on flash.

That's not me saying the way you or Landis see it is wrong, I just have a different interpretation.

I always agreed with Landis' interpretation in that Peter took out years of repressed anger from being bullied / abused on the villains, in that he disproportionately hurt them. I get that it's a writing thing to add jokes and make the book much more kid friendly but if you insult a villain while viciously beating them it gives them a reason to hate the hero to the point where they'll specifically target the hero as opposed to committing crimes. I get that not every Spiderman villain falls into that group (It's why I like Shocker and Rhine) but to me, Spiderman is a massive jerk.

I mean, the reason the Sinister Six exists is because a group had an intense hatred of Spiderman and wanted to put him down permanently.

But like you said, it is down to interpretation after all.

Landis can have whatever interpretation he likes, but the comics themselves provide different reasons, so he's wrong.

In more than one comic, it's been said why Spider-man cracks jokes at the villains.

One reason is to steady his nerves. Another is because it throws the villain off their game and makes them get sloppy. And lastly, he does it to put the civilians that are in danger from these maniacal villains at ease.

You can think Spider-man is a jerk if you like, but your reasons for doing so are directly contradicted.

@slimj87d: They get 30 mins prep? He can look up the prints and do much of the work then.

How do they know Batman is going to blow the building? Even if they do, they can rig the bomb during prep. Then when the fight starts, boom. Slade and Batman make there escape before the building blows of course.

Ummm. You do realize with morals off characters would totally adjust on how they fight? Also Batman has blown up things before, it's not out of character mate.

Batman and Slade are both tactical, geniuses.

Can Steve survive an entire building collapsing on him?

Yes Bat girl has a grapple, since when are opponents allowed to leave the battlegrounds in standard battle forums? Where is she escaping too? Where is the closest building to the Empire State Building?

I've seen you before in battle forums, and I have respect for you. So far, neither one of us needs scans right now. We are both pointing out common knowledge. :)

So Batman and Deathstroke are allowed to leave, but CC and Cap aren't?

So is there some competition to create the worst possible battle thread going on around here?

If an exhausted Spider-man can tear apart a veritable horde of super villains without being touched, then he should have no problem here:

uh no. Bucky and Cap are a pretty fair match, both have an equal fighting skill and super serum, parker is a kid. He can't win! not only does his stamina deteriorate, but he is not pro guns. Though not in a godlike wolverine state, cap can regenarate in minutes. Movies don't count. Spider Man has a spider sense, that is all. Captain america is portrayed to be strong enough to lift a van in some incarnations. Tell us which version and I will give answers, but I am sticking with earth 616 cap over all

Wow. I have no idea how you managed to get so much wrong in one post.

Explain... though earth 616 cap doesn't have a healing factor to the extent I said some incarnations do.

Explain what? Everything you got wrong? Okay, fine.

Peter Parker is 25-30 in main continuity, not a kid. His stamina deteriorates, but so does literally everyone else in this fight, and he can go for longer than they can.

Movies do count when the battle is specifically between movie versions.

Spider-man has a HELL of a lot more than just a spider sense.

Movie Cap has never lifted a van, and neither has comic Cap to my knowledge. And regardless, Spider-man has lifted things much heavier than vans, so it's not really relevant.

The OP did specifically tell you which version, so I don't know why you're asking him to tell you again.

Based on what's been said in this thread, Spider-man should take it.
