This is my sixth account (Kahzekmoses here) which exists because I have a rather great fondness for the Black Legion.
Chaos Lord Varaxar the Annhilator
Born on Terra during the 30th Millennium, The self styled Warmaster Varaxar was brought into the XVIst or Luna Wolves legion of the Legionnes Astartes or the Space Marines by the age of 5 and became a fully fledged Luna Wolf Scout soon after reaching the age ten and earned his battle armor by the time he was twelve with his legion being reunited with their Primarch Horus when he was seven and his psychic powers being discovered at about the same time he earned his power armor. He became a sergeant at age fourteen after proving his martial valor by gunning down a large number of hostile Jokaero, rushing from cover and throwing a frag grenade at their position and slaughtering them all with his bolter, urging along many of his friends to join him in his charge.
Two years later earned his terminator honors and became a Lieutenant by leading his Assault Marine squadron to jumpjet into the middle of an Human-led theocracy which stood at odds with the Atheistic Imperial Truth, placing metlabombs on ten of the tanks and used his power sword to carve up three more tanks and taking out two more with his plasma pistol while his squadron took out two others with their chain swords and destroying a third with bolt pistols before jump jetting out, destroying a force which threatened the flank of the Luna wolves and thus earned Horus's respect.
He would become company commander within two years by teleporting two squadrons of assault terminators in with a normal squadron of terminators into the heart of an Orkish WAAAGH! and managed to take out the Orkish Warboss, thus causing the WAAAGH! to collapse under itself through infighting and thoroughly impressed Horus.
By the age of twenty two he became grand company commander by winning an Dark Eldar slave world for the Imperium by deepstriking in the midst of the Archon's fortress. He crushed the Archon's head with a single mighty blow from his thunder hammer and slaughtered his Incubi retinue while his company destroyed the entire "Soulless Talon" Kabal, not letting a single Dark Eldar escape to the webway and managing to free most of the slaves, though a great many of them were far beyond saving.
For many more centuries the Great Crusade dragged on, with the Luna Wolves at the forefront, and at the behest of Sanguinus of the Blood Angels they redubbed themselves the Sons of Horus. No other legion conquered or liberated as many worlds as the XVIth, and no other Primarch was more loved by the Emperor than Horus.
But one day Horus was gravely wounded and taken under the care of chaos cultists who corrupted the primarch to the service of the gods, though Alpharius and Omegon and the Alpha Legion had faked betraying the Imperium to the ruinous powers before the Sons of Horus, this was the first true betrayal. Horus convinced most of the Legion to join him in a new crusade against the Imperium, and like most Varaxar followed.
When the Horus Heresy began at Istvaan V, his battle barges, strike cruisers, and Gladius frigates pummeled the world as the Loyalist legions were lead to a trap meant to guarantee their destruction, but Angron and the World Eater's rage ruined the plan when they charged head on at the loyalist forces, forcing the bombardment to stop.
Seven years later the Horus Heresy reached Solar itself, and the forces of chaos took Mars and destroyed the System defences and Luna's naval bases, landing on Terra itself and taking the fight to the Imperial palace.
But although the Ultramarines, Dark Angels, the Iron Hands, the Space Wolves, Raven Guard were not able to participate in the siege of Terra as the Space Wolves, Ultramarines, and Dark Angels were far away while the Iron hands, Salamanders, and Raven Guards were far too badly damaged to make any meaningful contributionthus leaving only the White Scars, Imperial Fists, The Blood Angels, the Terran Imperial Guard and PDG Regiments, and the mighty Adeptus Custodes which was as large as any legion with soldiers who could take down an entire squadron of Space Marines due to the physical and technological superiority of a Custodian.
However things did not go according to the plan for the traitors either, the Thousand Sons had not shown up while the Alpha legion had long ago broke off from the main force and was nowhere near where they were needed while the Night lords were fighting in the Galactic east to cut off any loyalist Support. To make matters worse, the Emperor's Children Legion soon broke off from the attack out of boredom and wasted time and resources enacting their dark pleasures and tortures upon the civilians. Horus's astropaths could sense the Impending arrival of the Ultramarines, Dark Angels, and Space Wolves to the battlefield, and if he could not defeat the incredibly well entrenched loyalists in the few days it would take for some of the largest of all the Legions (The Ultramarines alone would have as many legionnares and guardsmen as Horus had in his entire attack force) he would be utterly crushed.
So the warmaster took a gambit to allow the Emperor to Teleport onto his battle barge and engage him in mortal combat, and though Sanguinus who was the mightiest of the Primarchs also came to challenge Horus and the Emperor had easily banished Xalthotep and Doombreed, Horus had been bloated by the power of all four chaos gods. Horus casually slaughtered Sanguinus and horribly injured the Emperor who still believed that Horus was redeemable, though when Horus brutally massacred an individual (some say he was an imperial fist terminator, others insist he was an Adeptus Custodes while the Guard firmly believes that Ollanius Pius, a Guardsmen who tried to defend his Emperor, was the true defender) the Emperor saw he was beyond redemption and released the full measure of his power, which caused the Chaos Gods to flee Horus's body for fear of being harmed by the blast and for a split second Horus's sanity had returned, but his soul was utterly destroyed moments later.
The Ultramarines, Space Wolves, and Dark Angels then arrived in the system with a huge number of sector fleets and Imperial Guard Divisions and began to smash the traitor legions, fleets, and guard divisions, forcing them to flee the system or risk destruction. Varax followed Abaddon the Despoiler into the Eye of Terror and sided with him as he forced the Sons of Horus legion to get over their loss and expunge his name from their history for his failure, taking on the title of the Black Legion.
But Varaxar grew distant from Abaddon after his repeated failures and underwent his own agenda. He went on to make his own warpath and earned all the marks of the Chaos Gods along with the mark of chaos undivided. Sometime in the 42nd millennium he and a force of thirty thousand space marines of the black legion, thirty thousand night lords, thirty thousand of the thousand sons, thirty thousand world eaters, thirty thousand iron warriors, thirty thousand alpha legionnaires, thirty thousand death guards, thirty thousand emperor's children, thirty thousand word bearers, and thirty entire renegade chapters and many times their number in traitor guardsmen, cultists, heretics, navymen, mutants and many daemons went into the past to further the Black Legion's goals and has been spreading chaos across the Galaxy ever since and has become one of the gravest threats to the Symaarian Imperium and the galaxy as a whole. His forces have swelled in size to over three times the number they had when they arrived in the past, collecting other time travelling warbands and "recruiting" natives of the modern era into his Black Crusade.
The Lantern Corps have tried to stop him, but all their attempts have failed, and he has brought many a Lantern into the Cause of Chaos. Thanks to him, a frightening majority of the Red Lantern corps; who already relied on anger for power, have fallen into the worship of Khorne; the God of Rage, Slaughter, and Blood. Thanks to him, many of the Star Sapphire corps has turned to worship of Slaanesh, God of Desire, Pain, Pleasure, and Excess. It is by his hand that a great deal of the Blue Lantern corps have fallen to Tzeentch, god of Hope, Ambition, Sorcery, and Schemes. Many a Green lantern still have fallen to worship of Nurgle, God of Despair, Decay, Disease, and Determination while lanterns from every corps have joined his crusade under the banner of Chaos Undivided.
His Black Crusade has wiped out a quarter of the Skrull species, pushing an species already close to extinction to the very brink of destruction, while dragging another fourth of their kind under his Dark banner.
He would like nothing more than to see the Earth and Symaar prime overrun with Daemons and for the 10,000 light year wide Warp rift known as the Eye of Terror to consume the entire Galaxy if not the entire Universe and for Daemons to inhabit the universe with him as their master, above even the mighty gods of Chaos.
He is preparing to become the new Warmaster in Abaddon's stead, not knowing that Eliphas the Inheritor of the Word Bearer's legion is already marked by the Chaos Gods for that honor and that he is destined to die either in this mission or by the blade of Abaddon or Eliphas.
Indeed, he fails to realize that Abaddon has maintained leadership not due to any measure of tactical or strategic competence, but due to simple physical power and the fact that his string of failures and Pyhrric victories have managed to amuse the gods up until now.
However, fate had another twist in store for the warmaster. When he landed on Ferravius, his warband fell right into a trap laid for him by the Symaarian Imperium; though his force should have won through sheer attrition, Techmarine Kraellus lead a force of Ten thousand space marines, five titan legions, and a hundred fifty imperial guard regiments into his right flank while a surprise attack from the Eldar Empire smashed into his left flank. To compound his problems, Necrons, Tyranids, and Orks were coming into the fray, all hellbent on crushing him. As if to add insult to injury, his Alpha Legionnares turned on him, showing to him that the Alpha Legion was in fact truly loyal to the emperor and had only joined Chaos to destroy it from within. His Flagship; the Planet Killer was destroyed by a Necron World Engine, while his rearmed Spacehulk was taken and Looted by the Orks.
The overwhelming majority of his warband died, his Chaos Titans lay smashed, most of his daemons banished to the warp, all of the Daemon Primarchs and Ancient Daemon Princes that had come to fight alongside him were defeated by the Grey Knights, most of his traitor guard regiments were dead, and most of his Chaos Space marines lay dead. Now left with only twenty Thousand Black Legionnares, ten renegade chapters, ten thousand iron warriors, ten thousand night lords, ten thousand word bearers, ten thousand chaos space marines from each of the singularly devoted legions, fifty chaos titan legions, and eight hundred chaos imperial guard But still he rebuilded his forces in the heart of the maelstrom warp rift.
But he had the last laugh, for the Symaarian Imperium; once a Glorius empire of a hundred million worlds collapsed as virtually every power in the galaxy that could do so took advantage of the weakened state of the Symaarian Imperium; which lost many untold trillions of lives in it's fight against Varaxar's warband and saw it's industry exhausted. Like a vulture, Varaxar's warband flocked to do what damage it could as what seemed to be the entire universe rushed to take it's share of the Symaarian Imperium. Perhaps his greatest blasphemy against the dying Imperium was his theft of over a thousand soldiers of the Symaarian Death Company, turning a thousand of the Holy Navigator's finest warriors over to the forces of Chaos.
By now, he has collected enough forces to have over ten times the manpower he had after his defeat, possessing over a million chaos space marines, twenty five thousand Chaos titans, trillions of Traitor Guardsmen, Cultists, Mutants, and Heretics, ten thousand former warriors of the Death Company turned to the forces of Chaos, and a fleet over ten thousand strong. His forces have exploded out of the Maelstrom and has carved a bloody warpath through space, destroying hundreds of spacefaring civilizations.
Physical traits
Height: 12 feet tall.
Weight: 6,000 pounds of Daemonic Flesh, Organs, and Muscle.
Hair: Honey Blond at birth, now bald
Eyes: Sky-blue at birth, now milky white
Personality
Varaxar used to have a brutal but charismatic air to himself, he is the type of person that the degenerate of society love to follow and the type of person who most would unhesitatingly call Evil. He enjoys bringing the slaughter that Khorne Demands, he enjoys inflicting the pain that Slaanesh desires, he enjoys unleashing the plagues that Nurgle loves, and he enjoys the civilization wrecking change that Tzeentch craves. He throughly likes killing living things, inflicting pain upon others, destroying entire planets and civilizations, and bringing devastation on a Galactic Scale. Unlike many of his fellows who were alive during the Horus Heresy, he did not fall due to being physically corrupted by Chaos or hearing the whispers of Daemons, he joined them of his own accord out of his greed for power and genuine sociopathy.
Powers
- Mark of Chaos Undivided: Varaxar possesses the mark of Chaos undivided.
- Mark of Khorne: Varaxar posseses the Mark of Khorne and all of it's benefits.
- Mark of Tzeentch: Varaxar possesses the Mark of Tzeentch and all the benefits it brings.
- Mark of Slaanesh: Varaxar posseses the mark of Slaanesh and all the benefits associated with it.
- Mark of Nurgle: Varaxar possesses the mark of Nurgle and all of it's benefits.
- Mark of Chaos Ascendant: Varaxar get's the benefits of all the above marks once again, effectively doubling their benefits.
- Space Marine Implants: see warsman, their effects are greatly strengthened by his Chaos Mutations
- Super strength: He has immeasurable levels of strength due to his chaos blessings, armor, and genetic enhancements.
- Super Durability: Self explanatory.
- Intelligent: it is difficult to survive as long as Varaxar has without being extremely intelligent, charismatic, and cunning. Now however, his Charisma has mostly vanished, replaced by an all surpassing despair.
- See the unseen: due to special detectors in his helmet, he can see the invisible. Doesn't work without his helmet.
- Super Speed: Varaxar can move faster than a human in his armor.
- Super Senses: Varaxar's senses are so keen that he can make out the individual stitchings of a baseball moving at a hundred miles per hour from a kilometer away and can hear a butterfly's wing beat from a hundred meters away, he has learned to mentally control how sensitive he is to avoid going mad from all these sounds.
-
- Sorcery: Varaxar was an low level Beta class psyker when he went back in time, allowing him to wield great amounts of warp energy and could crumple an Iowa class battleship with a single unpleasant thought, though he tries to keep usage of the full extent of his psionic powers at a minimum to avoid the perils of the warp as even the Mortal master of the legions of Chaos does not wield the full loyalty of the Daemons of the Warp, much less the non-daemonic entities that also call that place home.
-
- Sorcery Continued: He has devoured the souls of other psykers to increase his power. Now he has reached Upper Level Alpha Class making him powerful enough to instantly mind control every single human being in a large country or snap a heavily shielded hundred and eighty meter tall, four million and a half ton Imperator Class Titan in half with a single thought. He wishes to reach a so called Psychic Island of stability, a point at which his psionic power would be so great that neither Daemonic possession nor insanity would threaten him.
Weapons & Equipment
-
Fists of the Black Legion: on both of Varaxar's hands lie mighty power fists dating to the Horus Heresy. These Power fist/lightning claw combinations bear mounted one wrist mounted meltagun and plasma gun each.
Kral'krar: An ancient daemonic sword of great power, this sword has often been derisively called Drach'nyen's little brother, though few say that to Varaxar's face and live. This sword can cleave through normal power weapons, tanks, adamantium, force-fields, lesser daemonic weapons, flesh, bone, spirits, daemon-flesh, and stone alike with nonexistant effort. This sword also attempts to devour the souls of those it injures, which could instantly kill them if they fail to resist the bound daemon in the sword.
- Varaxar's iron wall: Varaxar's stormshield from his days as an Assault Terminator. It has been daemonically enhanced to resist necrodermis, daemonic, and force weapons.
- Terminator Armor: Varaxar posseses a suit of Demoniacally enhanced Terminator Artificer Armor, it can hold back normal power weapons and rending claws though force-weapons, enhanced power weapons, necrodermis and the likes can cut through it normally.
- Banner of Chaos: Those who gaze upon Varaxar have their morale and sanity damaged thanks to the horrifying banner formed from human and symaarian faces etched with Daemonic runes that rests atop his back.
- Black Rosarius: acts as a force field, though instead of short circuiting after recieiving a certain amount of damage, it has a chance of blocking an attack, though sufficiently strong attacks defeat it and it doesn't work all the time. Necrodermis and Phase weapons are capable of defeating the Black Rosarius due to their unusual properties.
- Teleporter: self-explanatory.
- Dark halo: acts like a second Black Rosarius and further increases his shield's chances of repelling an attack.
The Planet Killer
Varaxar's version of the planet killer improves greatly on the one used by Abaddon the Despoiler during the twelfth black crusade. A single shot from it's armageddon cannon will instantly destroy a Jupiter sized planet and reduce it into nothing more than thinly dispersed cloud of plasma, it's secondary weapons batteries pack enough fire power to pummel an Saturn Sized planet apart within an hour of bombardment or reduce an earth sized planet to a cloud of super-heated dust in a matter of seconds. It's Void shields are immensely powerful and it's armor stupendously thick. One thousand worlds have been utterly destroyed by this ship and Varaxar plans to blast the Earth and Symaar prime apart with this weapon.
This ship was destroyed in battle by a Necron World Engine, Varaxar now commands from a heavily modified battle barge named "The Ravager of Worlds." this battle barge is approximately three times longer than the standard version and carries eighty one thousand chaos space marines within it's bowels and is capable of unleashing massive amounts of firepower from it's many guns.
