The problem with this movie is that it SHOULD have been a reboot. The decision to continue from the last film ruined it. No one remembered the last film (was it superman 4?), and the newer audience was turned off by an aged, poorly scripted sequel to a movie they've never seen. Routh was what WB wanted, a young inexpensive actor with possible potential. Not perfect, but last time I checked Christopher Reeves was unavailable. Kevin Spacey was a great Lex Luthor, I'll give you that. It just sucks that Lex was comic relief in the previous films and this one was no different (at least they toned it down some). For all of the people saying Lex shouldn't be in the next Superman film, you'll be disappointed. Lex is the ying to Superman's yang (Lex also practically owns Metropolis). A superpowered villian to rival superman in there would help out alot though, maybe Parasite or Brainiac. DC should make a reboot if they want to keep up with marvel and ride the wave of blockbuster superhero movies, but if they do.... put the movies into the hands of people that will stay faithful to the way the characters were and most importantly, who they are today.
