I don't really care at all about continuities. I just care about good stories, and I prefer trade paperbacks

Hey guys, I've never picked up a Teen Titan comic. I've seen some of the cartoon and liked it, so I was wondering where to start. As far as my tastes go,

I really like old school Uncanny X-men,Astonishing X-Men, All Star Superman, Kingdom Come, The Dark Knight Returns, Batman and Son, and stuff like that

Sorry, but I think the OP is kind of dumb. I'm Indian and Puerto Rican, and I have never put down a comic because it didn't have Indian or Puerto Rican people in it. Batman and all his friends are white because all the people who make American comics are white, and it's natural for them to write things that they can relate to. If I wanted to see Indian people and Indian stuff, I would read Indian comics. Batman is made by white people, simple as that. Besides, you don't need to have ethnic characters to show a little flavor. If you look at Batman Hush Jim Lee throws the Korean flag into the background here and there.

When it really comes down to it though, ethnicity is irrelevant. The comics are about what the characters do, and what color their skin is wouldn't change anything in my experience

Everything in the book ties together - even Gordon's whining about his wife always forgetting something from the grocery store comes into play. I can see how it can be confusing at times, but I think that's done on purpose. In those panels, Miller wants you to feel a little overwhelmed by everything, to see things drip, meld into each other. What things did you think were dumb?

I just finished the story arc that kind of ends with Batman R.I.P. and I was a little disappointed. It was cool, but didn't feel like a classic.

I'm kind of looking for something along the lines of The Long Halloween or Batman and Son - but really, I want a Batman equivalent of All Star Superman

Also, I haven't read any Justice League, so some JL's with Batman would be great

I really like the Batman and Son era Batman, the first arc of Astonishing X-Men, Batman: The Long Halloween, Weapon X, and those kind of comics. I like stuff that's a bit gritty and dark. I've never read any Superman comics before, and was wondering which ones I would like and which ones I should start with. I've read all the classic Uncanny X-Men and stuff like that and love them, but I might love them just because of nostalgia.
