Telepathy isn't always about going inside the person's head, and that's quite an assertion you're making comparing Kurotsuchi to Wade Wilson. Both men are twisted and sadistic to the point I doubt Essex will see anything in there that would even remotely unnerve him about the Soul Reaper. Regardless, the poison Shikai isn't really an obstacle Sinister would have to concern himself with. From Sinister's Comicvine bio: "--complete control of his body at the cellular level, allowing him to shape-shift, regenerate and be virtually immune to injuries. The character has exhibited the ability to teleport, though Beast believes this is accomplished through his tesseract headquarters."

@CELKali: A very nice answer with an interesting perspective. I plan on writing for Nigma in a big superhero crossover role play with some friends of mine, so I've been flexing my mental muscles pretty hard to not only be smarter (I consider myself fairly smart and I do tend to have quick wit, at least with sarcasm), but to also understand the character inside and out. I do this with every pre-existing character I wish to RP, looking up every version, getting insights from the various writers, fans and even haters. I like to cover all areas possible. Nigma will be matching wits with a lot of characters (including Batman) and will be playing to win, so I need to make sure I don't under or overplay him.

The clown from the comics has had variable displays of combat skill -- sometimes can't fight at all, other times can at least give Batman a decent match -- so perhaps some people underestimate him based solely on that. Between his sadomasochism, unpredictability, ruthlessness, experience fighting the Bat-family, and being armed with a deadly weapon in this fight, the people that claim they could make it to round 5 must be Green Berets or something. Also, who could honestly beat up Joker in round five? The only reason he acted like an idiot was because 1; fighting his best pal, Batman and 2; on Gotham TV, eager to please the camera. Regular scrawny Joker killed a guard and doctor in a matter of seconds using just his frigging handcuffs and a little kick (probably with a hidden knife in his shoe). You really think pumped up Titan Joker is going to lose to some average Joe in a cell where no one can even see it?

As for myself, I could make it to round 3. With great luck I could MAYBE get to round 4, but I doubt even that much. Regardless, I die a horrible death at either Heath or comic Joker. Maybe I'll get lucky and come out physically and mentally scarred, then I could become a new Batman villain!

Need I remind you that Jean Grey is an Omega-level telepath and an Omega-level telekinetic on her own. The Phoenix Force makes her omnipotent and the insanity/bloodlust of Dark Phoenix makes her even more dangerous.

Doom only has a chance if he resorts to magic. Other than that...he has no chance. Doom is not Cyclops, he's not Wolverine and he's not Storm. Jean has no attachment to him as a person.

So what's stopping the Dark Phoenix from wiping him from existence, atom by atom, memory by memory.

The same could be asked of Pre-retcon Beyonder. With prep and no PIS, classic and most versions of Doom I've seen could win. Without prep, Doom would be atomized for sure, no argument.

...in overall smarts? Who (human only) can run circles around him? Bonus question; How smart do you think Nigma should really be when compared to other genius characters in DC, even superhuman intellect?
