Michael was the son of Elizabeth and Owen Stone, former members of the high society of Chicago until Michael's father lost all of the family fortune due to being robbed by the family's accountant. Without any money and no one to go to the family were forced to live on the streets barely surviving with the money that they could gather.

Being a family that had never required anything in their history had made this transiction a difficult one for the Stones, this lead to Owen and Elizabeth's decision to leave their son in adoption so that he could at least have something better than a life plagues with hunger and poverty.

This decision was probably the only reason why the young Michael was able to survive his first years and as difficult as it was for them they couldn't have direct contact with him for the risk of Michael being placed out of the adoption process.

Thus the years went by and young Michael kept growing up and becoming all the more agressive to the other kids of the orphanage. This anger issues eventually lead to him becoming a small time criminal who made theft all across the city in order to have the things that his parents and the orphanage were never able to give him.

When Michael turned fourteen, he learnt about the fact that both of his parents were still alive and the reason why they had left him in the orphanage. This realization made him leave the place that he had known as home by escaping to live on the streets for he said that the orphanage was for kids who didn't have parents and he wanted to find his.

The crimson bandit

Michael now became a full-time small level criminal who stole from high class houses without being detected until it was too late. Although no one was able to catch him in his act he was constantly spotted miles away from the houses he stole, presumably because he no longer cared if people saw him. Due to the clothes he wore and the hood he used to hide his face he became an urban myth known as the "Crimson Bandit."

With time the young Michael started to develop more and more his speed, agility and planning and thus became the best thief of the city. His abilities and legend became so big that he caught the attention of every single one of the gangs, especially the one of the "Chicago riders". Their leader known as Joaquin "JT" Torres gained a special interest in the services of Michael and thus recruited him for his gang, offering him something he was never going to get on his own: A family reunion.

The Chicago Riders and the Sacred Order:

Years after leaving Michael in the orphanage his two parents tried for as long as they could to survive using whatever they could get their hands on without doing any criminal activity. However that idea soon proved to be only wishful thinking as they eventually realized that they had been too acostumed of the life of fortune, it was because of this that Joaquin Torres offered them a spot in their organization, knowing perfectly how much they would sacrifice in order to try to regain their former lifestyle and their son by doing so.

This new lifestyle provided them enough money to cover all of their former needs, however the Stones decided that they didn't want to see their son enter this life of crime and so they decided to stay away from their son's life no matter how painful the simple idea was.

This however came crashing when Michael joined JT's organization by his own will. Elizabeth Stone received with both tears of joy and sadness her son as she realized that he had also been dragged into their world but at the same time happy to be reunited with him. Michael then learnt that his father had died two years before during a shootout against a rival gang.

problem making him climb inside the gang to eventually become one of the key members of it. All went well for Michael as he found a twisted version of a family with people not so different from him, this changed however the moment that Michael's mother was stopped along twenty other members of the gang during a drug transaction business by the superhero known as Nighthunter. Michael observed hopelessly how Nighthunter took his mother and the rest of the gang members with him and sent them to the authorities.

This was the day in which Michael's hate against Nighthunter was born as he wasn't able to go near his mother and so Nighthunter had taken away the last part of the family he had. Angered at this situation Michael returned to the Chicago rider's headquarters in order to ask Joaquin for help regarding his mother.

When he arrived he realized that Joaquin was already waiting for him along with a very old man, both of them wanted to talk to Michael about his future. The old man alongside Joaquin was simply known as the Grandmaster who was the leader of an organization known as the Sacred Order. This organization had been there for hundreds of years under the leadership of this elder and created the greatest warriors the world had ever known.

Joaquin explained to Michael that the Chicago Riders was simply an extension of the Sacred Order, the gang was simply a device to find young tormented souls that were willing to change their lives in order to serve the Grandmaster. Michael was promised that if he were taken to the island where the Sacred Order operated he would no longer be simply a renown thief but also learnt all of the secrets he needed in order to take revenge on Nighthunter for making his mother go to jail and taking her away from him.

The Sacred order's best student

Michael accepted and so was sent to the island to train, it was here that the grandmaster discovered the reason why Michael was such an amazing thief without any previous training. Apparently Michael was a prodigy with an IQ over two hundred, an amazing intellect which unfortunetly hadn't been developed to its maximum efficiency due to his time on the streets and outside of any kind of education.

Michael's mind apparently was so uncanny that he could think faster than almost any other person, creating scenarios and stadistics so fast that the rest of the world practically stopped for him, he also showed to have a gift for tactics, strategy, literature, philosophy and engineering as well as being quite able to adapt to fighting moves and agility thanks to his mind working so fast. The years passed and Michael proved to be the Grandmaster's best student in centuries, in a simple couple of years he was able to learn and master several fighting styles and become an unparalleled fighter in the island.

Realizing how much potential Michael had and that he would be of better use in the streets the Grandmaster sent Michael back to Chicago, where he assumed Joaquin's former place as leader of the Chicago Riders. He however came with the instructions that he would have to become a different kind of criminal if he wanted to attract Nighthunter's and Andy Summer's attention and so ordered him to create a new costumed identity to make sure that he would be able to make the heroes pay attention and come to him.

Thus was the Outsider born. Michael took that codename and covered his face with a red helmet in order to pretend to be a supervillain so that the ever emerging heroes of the world would take notice of him and go after him, leaving the rest of the grandmaster's operations free of the influence of the rest of them.

The Outsider quickly arose at the top of the criminal underworld and was able to unite all of the gangs making him the kingpin of Chicago. His skills and methods along with his supervillain theme made him grow a reputation quickly and it was that same reputation which helped him spread across to all of the other great cities of the country. Seattle, Washington, San Diego, Los Angeles and New York all of them were now working under his command.

With the help of the gangs and the thousands of recruits he had working for him his empire soon extended to all economic and political areas, there was nothing in the United States which the Outsider didn't control at least partially.

This would lead to the eventual confrontation between him and several heroes, the most notable of them being Nighthunter who was the only one that survived the first encounter. The moment that they had first met Michael was simply a boy and a second grade thief, now with the help of the Sacred Order he had become the biggest criminal lord in the world and one of the best fighters alive, making their frequent confrontations all the more epic.

equal at the very least making it seem impossible to finish him. So Michael decided to make a blood trail to make Nighthunter come to him in his own terms. The Outsider ordered a massive release of his gang members across the country with the instructions to create havoc unless they were told by him to stop or they found out he was dead. This made the great hero seek the Outsider in desperation and in a battlefield that was in Michael's terms. These two factors plus the exhaustion that came from the priors battles that Nighthunter had had with the gang members of the Chicago Riders had made him tired and hurt.

This eventually lead to Michael beating and killing his greatest nemesis and thus making him the most dangerous human alive. Not tired with the death of his great rival and willing to take away everything to the dead man; Michael proceeded to destroy everything the Nighthunter name once stood for and thus ending the legacy of this man.

Nighthunter

Taking the mantle of his greatest enemy

He stole Nighthunter's costume and made it a few changes to suit him more, he used the naked dead body of his enemy to identify him and learn of his secret identity and thus was able to take over all of his belongings.

He stole and finished most of his experiments, the one he didn't though was the clone of the original Nighthunter that resided on his lab which he killed without even thinking about it. Thus the man who would one day be known as Jake Hamilton and become the second and greatest Nighthunter was never born.

After that he left the name of the Outsider and took the one of Nighthunter, even renaming his gang as the "Nighthunter gang" so that worldwide the name of his enemy would be equal to death, chaos, crime, etc. It wasn't long before people forgot about the hero who invented the name and once wore it proudly and instead feared it because of the experiences they had had with the gangs going bloodlusted.

It was then that Michael extended his reign of crime once more and started to recruit supervillains in his organization in order to keep them all under his check and ready for his orders. Just like that the country belonged to the new Nighthunter even if the government didn't know about it yet.
