Here be a range of Muslim superheroes both men and women.  They recently had a team up with the JLA too, which I haven't had time to make my way through yet...may do that later...

Well surely if Bruce Wayne had been Dog-Man then the Joker should have been played by  Cesar Millan instead of Cesar Romero........ :P

Thanks for the response.  Its a more subtlety designed questionnaire in that I want to know the basics of comic readers in terms of habit and then try and challenge people to think about superheroes differently before getting views on terrorism, and at that point I'd rather have the information in your own words than keep with the closed questioning.  I think diving straight in doesn't get you anywhere so tried to lead it in like that.  I feel its important that you can try and say what you want or feel or believe about a subject.

And don't worry about the wiki stuff, I've just seen the Black Adam page and its a bit wrong in places and seems to miss with large chunks of characterization.  So I may have to use my stupid amount of pointless Adam trivia gained from my Masters dissertation (for which this site was extremely handy for) to put a few things right :)

Hello,

My name is Nicholas Gray and I am a PhD student at the department of Geography, University College London.   I am here today to ask you, the wider community of comic fans, to help me with my PhD research project.   I am interested in comic audience’s engagements with themes of terrorism within the Superhero genre.   My research is a product of the first decade of our current centuries War on Terror and the effect that this has had on global audiences and media, and in particular comic books.

I am myself a superhero comic fan, having caught the bug in 2001 following a drunken argument over who would win in a fight between Superman and Batman. Thus I found comics to prove Batman can and has kicked Superman into touch on a number of occasions. My favourite comics are Batman and Robin, Secret Six and Booster Gold (although I am to lose two of these come September) and am looking forward to the return of Nightwing. I am therefore here as both fan and scholar to ask for the wider communities views on these themes and ideas of terrorism within the superhero genre of comics.

I have created a series of online questionnaires, one of which is designed specifically for comic readers to express their views.   I was therefore wondering if you could spare approximately 15 minutes of your time to complete this questionnaire.   As a sweetener all those that complete the questionnaire will be entered into a draw for a £10 Amazon.co.uk (or Amazon.com if not UK based) voucher.

I am UK based, but I am looking for a more global understanding of various issues for the online questionnaire.

The questionnaire is located at:

COMIC FANS QUESTIONNAIRE           http://tinyurl.com/ComicPhD1

This link will take you to the questionnaire (created using Google Documents) which should be viewable on all major internet browsers and many mobile phone browsers.

If you choose to take part and know of others local to you within household, family and friendship groups that may be interested then please feel free to pass the information of this project onto them.

Further if you have members of your family, household or friendship groups that do not read comics and would be interested In taking part in some research then please direct them to this alternate questionnaire at:

NON-READERS QUESTIONNAIRE     http://tinyurl.com/ComicPhD2

I thank you for taking the time to read this post and I thank all those who choose to take part.

Yours thankfully

Nicholas Gray

Thanks for the heads up on "The Boys".  Looks like a fun series to be perfectly honest, so will gie it a read through.

Amazing spider-man 36 is an excellent comic, what were your thoughts on it?

 2) Is Martin Stein alive, or did just Ronnie Raymond come back in BN#8

3) Are "dead" Characters gonna stay dead from now on?
4) Why aren't Superman or WW in the JLA at the moment?"

1. Nothing happened to Wally. 2. Both Martin Stein and Ronnie Raymond are alive.  3. Yes, in the sense that there's not going to be any more Black Lanterns. If you're asking if anyone is ever going to come back again, come on. 4. Supes is on New Krypton and WW is too busy with her amazon stuff. It was explained in JLA and has nothing to do with Blackest night. "
I think characters will stay dead as well. But The Black Lanterns aren't wiped out. On the next or second to next cover of Brightest day theres a black lantern on the cover.... Butttt I have big question, what is going on with  1) Black Adam? Osiris (spelling)?  2) Where Superman Prime (boyprime) at?3) Whats with the Martian Manhunter? 4) Who is it hinting at that may have a biggest impact on brightest day? 5) Ideas on Sinestro finding the White Lantern? 6) Finally, Whom will be the White Lantern? "
1.  Osiris has returned to his home land it appears that he is going to try to bring Black Adam back....I haven't been following Black Adam so all I know is that it appears that he's been turned to stone 2. Superboy Prime is still on Earth Prime 3. He's attempting to restore life on Mars...he's already found an underground river 4. The 12 heroes and villains are going to have the biggest impact during Brightest Day 5. nope 6. don't know "

Black Adam was turned to stone by the Wizard Shazam about a year ago in JSA following the corruption of Isis who tried to destroy the man made world.  They both gave up their powers to be together and the Wizard finally punished Adam for his continual transgressions before taking back all the magics of Shazam.  Am personally pretty stoked by any storyline that may mean BA returns so will have to follow this Osiris stoyline with some interest.

I've been a little bit annoyed by the inclusion of Green Lantern (who doesn't actually like Bruce anyway) and Supes in this storyline.  I've been enjoying the Jurgens run of Booster Gold and for me it should be Booster aided by Rip, Dick and TIm.  Hopefully it won't be superman and GL getting the glory as Jurgens has been building the importance of Bruce Wayne to Booster over the course of his run and hopefully this Time Master storyline will pay off with Booster being the hero to get BW back in normal time stream.
