The Patriarch. The beginning. The symbol that has inspired a whole family [and now corporation] of crime-fighters ensuring that justice is served. Born as Bruce Wayne of the wealthy Wayne family, his life is turned around the moment he witnessed his parents murdered when he was a child. Pledging vengeance, he has learned from the skilled fighters and detectives, using his skills to fight crime in a decadent and corrupt Gotham city.
2. Alfred Pennyworth
Part of the family that has served the Waynes for generations, Alfred is the last in line of a breed of loyal butlers and confidantes. However, he is also the surrogate father of Bruce Wayne, whom he has looked after since his parents were murdered. He also provides tactical and moral support to his master and extended Bat-Family members, and also makes the finest cuisines.
3. Dick Grayson
Bruce Wayne's adopted son, the first of many. Dick Grayson also suffered the same loss as Bruce Wayne did when he was a child, and Wayne was more than willing to take him in. A skilled acrobat, Dick has been Batman's sidekick and ally while as Robin & Nightwing, till eventually taking up the cowl and role of Batman in the absence of his mentor.
4. Barbara Gordon
The first Batgirl, and daughter of the police commissioner, Barbara Gordon was a skilled crimefighter in her own right, till a tragic event with the Joker resulted in her being paralyzed. However, instead of retiring, Barbara now uses her incomparable tech skills to access every known data center around the world and provide tech & data support to the Bat Family as Oracle
5. Jason Todd
The second Robin; Jason has been the bad boy when it comes to being a crime-fighter. Brutally murdered by the Joker, Jason returned to life after a bizarre set of happenings and now looks to extract his dark brand of justice, by becoming the antagonist of Batman's ideals of justice and seeking to replace it entirely.
6. Tim Drake
Following the death of Jason Todd, Batman's perception of "no-more-sidekicks" was shattered with the arrival of Tim Drake. A master detective in the making, Tim discovered the identities of Batman and Robin on his own, till finally performing well enough to earn the mantle of Robin.
7. Jean-Paul Valley
Formerly a student at Gotham U, Jean-Paul Valley earned the respect of Batman as the assassin Azrael. So much that Batman chose Valley to wear the cowl while he was severely injured by Bane. Valley avenged the symbol of the bat and took on the role of the caped crusader, however his brand of savage justice was just too much for the Bat-Family to bear, and even though he redeemed himself as Azrael later, Valley was eventually lost in the descent of madness till being declared dead.
