From what I've seen these protestors don't have the defined goals, they are protesting everything under the sun.

You asked if it irks anyone about police using violence against these protesters and I will say it irks me, but the problem with most videos is you get the aftermath, the police using their tasers, batons, or guns.. you rarely get why? Are their power mad psycho cops, yes, but are there also people who openly instigate and egg the police on just to make them look bad.. the answer to that is yes also.

Also what I really despise about these protesters is comparing themselves to the protestors in the middle east and the "Arab Spring". Those people where being killed on mass for just speaking out against their government. Last I checked this government isn't sending out death squads to kill anyone speaking out against them. Hell the only person that comes to mind that is currently being held for doing anything is Bradley Manning, but you don't hear anything about him or the inhuman way he is being treated and held without trial or military tribunal.

With some of the stuff these cops have to deal with during these "peaceful" protests, it doesn't surprise me that they don't have a lot of patience for with these people. These protestors are almost never entirely peaceful and never fully cooperate with the police.

The video of the guy with the bandanna getting thrown to the ground seemed weird, the cop pushes the guy back after some thing happened that wasn't quite caught on the camera and then cop and the guy share words that i can't quite hear, it seemed to me that the guy was told to get back and didn't get back far enough. It may have been something the guy said to the cop. I wish the individual cops would address this stuff, not like a full press deal but maybe some small videos or written statements.

The girl that got maced, no offense, seemed a little too dramatic with her banshee shrieking. I'm sure it hurts but she was screaming as if she was in child birth. Now i saw the video but it doesn't clearly show the whole context of the situation, why would the cop spray her for no reason when he knows cameras are all around? Does he really want to ruin his reputation? Get his identity and address posted on the internet for everyone to see? I'm thinking she provoked them on purpose, so she can get cops caught on camera doing something like this.

Also to post the identity and address of these cops really pisses me off, this doesn't just endanger the cop's life but the lives of his family. That may not be their actual intent but it's the possibility of violent action, this information will go to pissed off protestors who now have a target for their aggression.

I am a staunch supporter of these protests. But, in the interest of philosophical debate, let's play devil's advocate and call it a futile gesture. There are also futile gestures being made at this very moment in Spain, Israel, Greece, Bolivia, etc. The Occupy protests are spreading to other portions of the country. They have even incorporated death penalty protests in Georgia following the Troy Davis controversy. Does their eclecticism make them directionless? Perhaps, but then too the U.S. Constitution with its broad abstracts and numerous bullet points is also directionless. Let's say that I believe it's all futile (which I do not), if small pockets of "futility" continue to grow at this rate, will it not become clear that the majority is torn between political despondency and outright rage towards aging systems? A majority in a given conflict has, logically, the advantage. So do these protesters, that represent a growing majority, not have, logically speaking, the advantage in any endeavor they undertake? Let's attempt the devil's advocate argument once more and say that this fragmented group is not the majority. While, they are obviously not the majority of New York City's population, they could be the majority of New York City's opinions. Why not? Is it because that notion contradicts what the media tells us? Is it because of the neglect of coverage in our "news" ? I can assure you that these outlets will more readily provide information about a Kardashian than a protester, but are the wealthy celebrity class the majority? Certainly not. Then, it stands to reason that in the silence, in the darkness, in the shadows and static between the channels their exists a growing number of people unhappy with the status quo. They are the ones that will erode the empire with their "futility". The system itself and the powers that be acknowledge its inevitable self-destruction, for this America, this new Rome has spread itself far too thin. What is established afterwards could be worse, it could be better, but it will be OURS.

Anyone with eyes open knows that the gangsterism of Wall Street -- financial institutions generally -- has caused severe damage to the people of the United States (and the world). And should also know that it has been doing so increasingly for over 30 years, as their power in the economy has radically increased, and with it their political power. That has set in motion a vicious cycle that has concentrated immense wealth, and with it political power, in a tiny sector of the population, a fraction of 1%, while the rest increasingly become what is sometimes called "a precariat" -- seeking to survive in a precarious existence. They also carry out these ugly activities with almost complete impunity -- not only too big to fail, but also "too big to jail."

The courageous and honorable protests underway in Wall Street should serve to bring this calamity to public attention, and to lead to dedicated efforts to overcome it and set the society on a more healthy course.

Late last night we found out which white collar officer had maced our innocent protesters. We did not release this information as we had not yet come to a consensus on how to approach the situation. Earlier today we discovered that this information had already been released.

Yesterday, an NYPD spokesperson implied that we had edited the video to remove incriminating actions on the part of our peaceful protesters. Here are a few different angles and cuts of the event that we had not previously released:

As you can tell, we did not need to edit the video to implicate this officer in a gross and unconscionable crime.

This is the man who maced these young women without provocation.

His name is Anthony Bologna. We demand that he is charged for his crimes. We demand that he receives jail time.

We demand that Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly resigns. Not only can he not control his most senior officers, he is involved in actively sheltering them from receiving any punishment.

We demand that Mayor Michael Bloomberg address our General Assembly and apologize for the police brutality and the cover-up that followed.

This was an attempt to make us weak, this was an attempt to destroy or derail our message, our conversation. It has not succeeded. We have grown, we will grow. Today we received unconfirmed reports that over one hundred blue collar police refused to come into work in solidarity with our movement. These numbers will grow. We are the 99 percent. You will not silence us.

NYPD continue to deny occupiers in Liberty Plaza, a.k.a. Zuccotti Park the option of setting up tents.   No further moves to oust the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) have occurred since the attempt to circulate an eviction notice days ago.   OWS is making efforts to communicate with the owners of occupied Zuccotti Park Brookfield Properties (listed on the NYSE as BPO).

Participation increases to over 2,000 protesters at any one time during work week days and to nearly 5,000 on weekends.   Even this slow growth is an incredible feat considering the fact that this 24/7 event has endured 13 straight days.

OWS's Community Outreach team has been canvassing the areas of the outer boroughs.  

The Labor outreach team has reported they have been inundated with requests from various unions around the city.   On Monday, OWS rallied with the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) at a mid-town Manhattan USPS facility.   Another joint union rally is planned with District Council 37, NYC largest municipal public employees' union with 175,000 members.

Additionally, occupations are now ongoing in Los Angeles, CA and Chicago, IL.

Reports that over one hundred rank and file NYPD police officers are refusing over-time in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street remain unconfirmed. 

Can someone succinctly tell me what their goals are besides just bringing attention to the fact some businessmen aren't in jail for the crimes they committed?

Guy Fawkes was trying to blow up a Protestant controlled Parliment to install a Catholic controlled totality. So these people want to put the rich in jail...to replace them with more corrupt rich people??

1. The police ARE the people. You think these cops are rich? Are they "the man" keeping everyone down? They're just men and women who's job it is to try and protect people and arrest people who have broken the law. Of course some of them are jerks, just like some of the protesters are jerks, but this seems like an EXTREMELY volatile situation, and it's a given that some violence will occur. Should justice be sought? Absolutely. But making it seem like this is innocent people fighting the gestapo or something is grossly dehumanizing and shows just as much lack of empathy as the folks you're apparently protesting against.

2. So the entire point of all this is to say that the wealthiest 1% of people should pay more taxes? Really?! Seems like a little overkill to get a point across which everyone in the world already understands. This is a spectacle to make angry kids feel like they're doing something meaningful. Not a way to effect positive change in the world. If you want to change the system, vote with your dollars, and take it down from the inside.
