I think its an amazing idea, but as much as it pains me to say this, I think they should do it after the second and third Avengers movies. By then we'll have enough history developed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to make this a very real possibility, and if no one has introduced Kang as a major villain, this would be a great opportunity to introduce him as the main antagonist.

For Patriot, it could be revealed that in the super-soldier program in the forties that whathisname lied about there being no survivors before Steve Rogers, that there was one African American survivor who eventually had a child and grandchild who inherited his super-soldier superpowers (or shared a blood transfusion), resulting in Elijah Bradley.

For Hulkling, a teenager that mysteriously developed superpowers due to a metagene got the ability to shapeshift with limited invulnerability and super-strength then transformed himself into a junior Hulk to fight crime with his friends. Teddy Altman's origin could be left relatively untouched for a potential Young Avengers sequel, unless by the third Avengers movie the subject of the Kree/Skrull war has already been explored and touched upon, whereas we could build Teddy's origin off that, or slightly alter his origin as movies tend to do.

For Wiccan, one would assume the men upstairs would've already introduced the concept of magic as a higher form of science in one of the Avengers movies or one of the spinoffs by then, allowing a (fan of Thor) kid with an Asgardian inspired costume to wield magical powers. Little to nothing needs to be said about Billy Kaplan's origin except he's a teenage boy who's been tinkering in a little witchcraft and has found he has a knack for it (as the Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver/Magneto are mutants owned by a different movie studio company and so can't be touched by the Marvel Studios).

For Stature, if they really do do an Ant-Man movie as it has been announced in the Marvel Studios third phase, and they stick with the concept of using Henry "Hank" Pym as the first Ant-Man in the 1940s and have Scott Lang as his successor, the second Ant-Man in the present, the movie could have a cameo of Cassie Lang and she could spinoff it and into the Young Avengers movie, stealing some of her dad's Pym Particles to gain size changing powers.

For Speed, as much of a fan as I am of Tommy Shepard, I think a first Young Avengers movie could do without him as he wasn't in the original line up until the Young Avengers #12, and we can avoid explaining the whole Wiccan and Speed as twins or avoid the movie having to ignore the concept/storyline all-together.

For Hawkeye, a young rich socialite without superpowers who takes on the role of a young teenage female Hawkeye/the Hawk (taking this role for some very good reasons Young Avengers Special #1) I think is an amazing idea on so many levels. Kate Bishop doesn't actually need any reason to be on the team, it wouldn't be the Young Avengers without her.

And finally, Iron Lad, the founder of the team, travelling from the future after discovering his inevitable destiny to become Kang the Conqueror, something he's seeking the Avengers help to avoid. I don't know about you guys, but I see by the end of an Avengers movie trilogy, the last/third movie would end with something similar to the Avengers Disassembled storyline (like the first movie ending with Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and the others going there separate ways, only on a more dramatic scale), leaving Iron Lad with no Avengers to help him, so he creates his own team like in the Young Avengers first story arc.

That first story arc against Kang would be a fantastic storyline for the first Young Avengers movie, only removing some elements like Captain America, Iron Man and Jessica Jones involvement in the story, remove J. Jonah Jameson's opening (as Spider-Man characters are owned by a different studio), and remove the Vision's involvement (unless they introduce the Vision in one of the Avengers movies or spinoffs, in which case he'll probably become untouchable or unusable for this movie, or might become integrate-able on some smaller level (to keep the cast from growing too large), maybe in a cameo.

A movie of teenage superheroes with an African American leader, two major in-team romances (an interracial couple Patriot/Hawkeye, and gay couple Wiccan/Hulkling) and an amazing time travel story that could stay almost completely inside the realm of the movie itself and not interfere too drastically with the other Marvel Cinematic Universe movie (like the original comic book series did) while still being a dramatic wild ride for the kids on a reasonable level of action, drama and romance, is just what the doctor ordered and exactly what the world needs right about now. A movie that includes teenage angst, racial diversity, good representation for the LGBT community, and a stronger presence for women in the superhero community.

@trinity_stormbreaker: (pats self on back) My biggest concern with the JL movie isn't whether it'll be a box office success. The fact Superman and Batman will be on the screen together will sell tickets faster than hot cakes. I'm worried about WB rushing the final product so that it's not as good as it could be if more time were taken. As for plot, the guy who wrote Gangster Squad, a film which has scathing reviews is writing the film so you'll have to forgive my apprehension about the plot. Plus Cyborg is a titan. Always has been in my mind and the ridiculous notion of making him a Leaguer makes no sense whatsoever. And Darkseid could be given the New 52 treatment. Last thing I want to happen.

I definitely agree with you on the plot, and the idea of this guy writing it doesn't really fill me with too much hope, but I was mostly pointing out my frustration on many fans forceful opinions that a Justice League movie couldn't stand to the already released Avengers movie. My long-winded comment was more for blowing off a little bit of steam.

Your definitely right about Darkseid. Hopefully an appearance in a live action context will revitalize his entire character in a way that the New 52 was meant to (crossing fingers!). And I must say I definitely agree with you regarding Cyborg, though not quite as passionately. I've never really viewed him as anything but a Titan, him being one of my favourite Titans.

The fanboy in me craves a Titans/Teen Titans movie spawning from the success of a Justice League movie starring Robin, Wonder Girl, and Kid Flash (sidekicks to the members of the Justice League that appeared in the Justice League movie) with cameos by dozens of future Teen Titans in a well thought out and interesting plot [including Cyborg, Starfire, Beast Boy/Changeling, Raven, Aqualad, (Superboy?) and possibly many many others] in a script that stays true to the history and legacy left by the Teen Titans comic books, and hopefully leads to a starring role for Cyborg in a sequel.

But, one can only dream ....

I'm constantly seeing people posting comments (not just here but in other features regarding the Justice League movie) that a Justice League movie won't be as good or be able to stand up to the Avengers movie. People are winging that it'll just look like a copy of the Avengers movie from the public's point-of-view (non-comic-book-fan movie goers), or that it won't work without several solo movies to retell each Justice League members' origin story (Wonder Woman, the Flash, etc). But people seem to be forgetting one really big factor:

Everyone already knows who Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are. And now, thanks to the Green Lantern movie, people know who Green Lantern is. With the Avengers, most to nearly all non-comic-book-fan movie goers had no idea who Iron Man, Thor or Captain America are. Robert Downey Jr made Iron Man a household name after his movienot before, and admittedly, some people might know who Captain America is before his movie, but no non-comic-book-fan would know who Thor is unless they thought you were talking about the ancient Norse God from mythology. The only character people would have known about (without his solo movies) would've been the Hulk, and I still have some people questioning me why the Hulk was on a superhero team.

Yes, admittedly, most non-comic-book-fans might not know who the Flash is (probably), and won't know who Martian Manhunter or Cyborg is either (assuming they're considered by the execs to be on the Justice League movie roster), but its the same as people accepting Hawkeye or the Black Widow on a superhero team without ever hearing about them before now (yes, I know the Black Widow was on Iron Man 2, but you know what I mean). Its just that the members of the Justice League have a far larger fan base and won't need too much time in the movie to dwell on their origins or pasts. This is a young Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman/Green Lantern/Flash/etc teaming up for the first time to save the world from some giant threat that only one or two of them can't handle on their own. If anything, the villain(s) will need a little more explaining time for the non-comic-book-fan movie goers.

A Justice League movie has the potential to blow the Avengers out of the park solely by their roster: regardless of Avengers being released first or having solo movies for their team members. The Justice League doesn't need solo tie-in movies, and we've already been told that the studios plan to release spin-off movies after a Justice League movie (i.e. a new Batman movie franchise, etc). Yes, we will need a good plot, giant budget and so many other things to make this movie worthy of being a Justice League movie, but lets put our faith in the studios like we do with every other movie released. If we don't like it, we don't have to see the movie 2 or 3 times at the cinemas and buy the ultra-special-edition blueray/dvd full-price the moment it comes out. If it's bad, the execs will know because the world will make sure they know, but ultimately, the Avengers have nothing over the Justice League in this particular respect, period.

(To whoever read this entire thing, give yourself a pat on the back, because I usually skip the douchey comments that are this long :)

I think Darkseid as the main villain would be a fantastic idea. Brainiac is a good choice too after what I've read so far of DC Universe Online (the comic book), but I don't think Starro would work, unless they make it really believable with a great storyline and select few changes. Someone like Amazo would only work after the league has been established for a while. If this is going to be an origin story, they can't fight a superpowered unbeatable-ish robot built specifically to take the Justice League down.

As much as I'd love to see the Justice League fight a team of villains like the Legion of Doom or the Society, I very much doubt a live action movie with that large an ensemble cast could work or is even a possibility to begin with. However, the Justice League crossing parallel worlds and fighting the Crime Syndicate would be great if the same actors could play both roles (eg. Henry Cavill as both Superman and Ultraman, etc).

One thing I do personally hope they do is leave room in the Justice League movie for the possibility of a Teen Titans movie. It doesn't need a cameo by Robin or Dick Grayson or anything, but just don't directly state that there's a Batman but no sidekick Robin, or that Wonder Woman is an only child with no little sister, or that the Flash doesn't have a nephew or sidekick.

I remember a story from the old '90s JLA series where the Justice League fought a person called the Queen of Fables. It was made pretty clear throughout the entire story arc that this woman was specifically a Wonder Woman villain (even appeared in Gail Simone's Wonder Woman run in 2008), yet managed to be an incredible threat for the entire team. With that as one of my all time favourite JLA story arcs, I don't see why a New 52 version of the Cheetah couldn't be a threat for the entire team, especially with the assumption that Superman is still vulnerable to magic.

I would love a pre-Batman "Bruce Wayne" tv show, similar to Smallville.

Show Bruce Wayne in his teenage years training to become Batman eventually. He'll not only have time in Gotham, but also overseas while training. Arkham Asylum and its range of characters could be included (Jeremiah Arkham). Alfred would be his butler and guide (as he already is) with Leslie Thompkins, and introduce other characters that will become supporting characters. Selina Kyle, troubled teen thief that becomes a love interest that owns a dozen cats; Harleen Quinzel, new intern at Arkham and another possible love interest that helps sometimes with her connections in the Asylum and her knowledge in psychology; aspiring journalist Vicki Vale as another potential love interest; police officer Jim Gordon and a possible cameo of his very young and intelligent daughter Barbara; Haley's Circus could be mentioned or even featured in an episode where Bruce unknowingly meets the parents of Dick Grayson; and dozens other characters can can be utilised (pre-Two Face district attorney Harvey Dent maybe?).

Bruce Wayne could have a villain of the week like the first few seasons of Smallville, and while most could be original for the show, some could lead to a post-Batman future: Jonathan Crane could be a doctor at Arkham or teacher at Gotham University (that Bruce attends) and be creating the beginning of what will eventually be his Scarecrow fear gas; Pamela Isley could be a professor in plant biology at Bruce's University and imply her future as a ecological terrorist when she creates her first plant hybrids that Bruce has to fight (or even both Pamela Isley and her mentor Jason Woodrue); Victor Fries might help Bruce with an ice related situation one episode, and in that same episode meet his future wife, Nora before she gets sick; a mysterious man who dons a red cape and hood could feature at some point, even as something to do with supporting character Harleen Quinzel.

There is an endless supply of potential, especially with Batman's colourful and iconic rouges gallery that everyone is already familiar with, and the budget of superpowers would be practically nil with Bruce Wayne and many of his characters not having any superpowers, so the budget could go to other needs on this drama based series.

(Sorry, but the more I thought about it, the more the ideas kept flowing. You can't tell me they couldn't make ten seasons of awesomeness out of this in a tv show that would far outdo Smallville. The only downside is the people in charge would pick another rebooted Batman movie franchise over a tv show like this, which is why they haven't already done it and chose Smallville and Arrow instead.)

Definitely a second female avenger (my personal favourite is Ms Marvel as she's at a superman/Thor level in superhero status).

My dream is each solo sequel (Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2) introduce a new (comic book established) villain to the cinematic universe, and then each of them would unite as the Masters of Evil in Avengers 2, but I doubt that'll happen with Joss Whedon's plans for a more personal and small scale movie compared to the first, and the fact that an ensemble cast of that magnitude would be much too big despite each character being established beforehand in a different solo movie.

But yeah, definitely introduce at least one more avenger, and if it is just one, please let it be a girl (I'm not feminist or sexist, and I am a guy by the way, but I do wanna see a couple more members introduced).

I have a question: Why not the Masters of Evil? (as the bad guys for Avengers 2)

Hear me out. We just had each member of the Avengers basically introduced in each of their own solo movies so the general public can begin to understand and see the Avengers as how we already see them. So in the solo movies that would be released between the first and second Avengers movies, why not introduce theMasters of Evil separately and have them imply that they are gathering together in the background that mostly only the audience can see to attack in Avengers 2 united.

Most of us already know that the Mandarin will be the main antagonist for Iron Man 3, and I hold high hopes for the Enchantress to make an appearance in Thor 2 (hopefully as the main antagonist and third love interest, and not just Loki's lackey). Should Baron Zemo be the antagonist for Captain America 2, it would be great for him to assemble these powerful supervillains together under the promise that by working together and under his command, they can destroy the Avengers (whom each member has a personal vendetta against) and take over the world as the Masters of Evil. (A side note: they could even just call themselves the "Masters" like howHawkeye was called "the Hawk" to make it sound more modern and believable in a movie setting).

It doesn't necessarily have to be those characters though. We already know the Mandarin is the bad guy forIron Man 3, and I only chose the Enchantress because she's one of my favourite Marvel supervillains that I hope to see in Thor 2 or 3, and Baron Zemo was the original leader of the Masters of Evil in comics, but you get the idea. They can even have characters like Black Widow and Hawkeye in Avengers that didn't get their own solo movies to be major antagonists in, but are minor villians that get their debut united in Avengers 2 as members of the Masters of Evil.

We need something to top the first movie without getting out of hand (and without feeling like another invasion or massive war with superheroes as soldiers). If they introduce these characters separately (just like each Avenger was introduced separately) then put them together, it could still be believable without feeling like an over-ensemble cast. And I agree to the idea that Thanos should be left as an Avengers 3 villain.

Whoever reads this, please give me your ideas or comments. Shoot the idea down if you want to, I just want to see if this idea is worth hoping for.

My two cents, being a major Catwoman fan probably makes me really bias on the subject, but I understand completely that Batman and Catwoman can never truly have a future. Seline Kyle is mostly portrayed as an extremely confident, sexually self-assured woman who knows what she wants and takes it, charged by the thrill that comes with the motion of stealing. She will never stop so long as she stays the person so many fans love her to be, and not even her love for Bruce will stop her.

Bruce Wayne is charged by his obsession to eliminate all crime. Even portion of his life is focused on his mission; love, companionship, sex, everything is sacrificed to the Almighty Will. Every second he is awake, his mind is on his mission, creating contingency plans, researching information on everyone, his enemies and allies.

It is quite impossible for either of them to find anyone to love completely and truly give themselves to. But, the main reason I love this relationship more than Bruce and Talia’s, is because that despite everything that threatens to rip them apart from one another, despite the voice in their heads that scream that there’s no point, nothing will ever come of this: Bruce and Selina (Batman and Catwoman) are still bound together by their feelings for one another.

Trust, differing opinions, even the fact that they’re on opposite sides of the coin of Hero/Villain, Batman and Catwoman will always love one another in a way that can never be explained. It’s too complex to have a label, and I doubt even the characters themselves will ever understand it.
