@bonifidehustla: Waid's run isn't like the TV show, which is gritty and very violent. Waid realized that many writers in the past have done those types of stories for Matt and that they would be much better at it than he would. So instead he decided to take the character somewhat back to his roots, where he was more of a swashbuckler. The run still deals with mature topics, and is well written despite what the droves of haters on this website would tell you, but the tone/mood is different than a lot of other modern Daredevil material.

I'm not a "hater". I even said i was a minority on disliking Waid's Daredevil.

I'm not exaggerating when I say I've read every Daredevil comic (Marvel Unlimited) and the darker themes have become synonymous with the character. Along with Cyclops and Iron Fist Daredevil has been one of my favorite characters for years, and I personally don't like the departure.

Moving him to San Francisco and making his identity and powers public knowledge isn't taking him to "his roots" its creating a new avenue for the character. Waid is writing Daredevil more like Spider-Man than anything else and that's not the book I'm interested in when I pick up my comics.

All I said is I want the status quo to return. I can understand how other people might like the more light-hearted stuff and that's their prerogative. To me, it doesn't matter since the universe is rebooting/refreshing soon.

This invalidates your whole argument. You're just believing the propaganda that the Waid haters in the DD discussion thread push because they want the title to be hyper grimdark. And I've read the Miller DD run, it really isn't much different than Waid's. The only thing different about Waid's run is that Matt is actively trying to be happy and to turn his life around. The message is uplifting, and that's what turns of Daredevil fans who like the character because he wallows.

EDIT: it's also important to note that Waid wasn't the first writer to reveal Daredevil's identity. Him coming out was a natural progression of what other writers already decided.

Is this even something that needs to be pointed out? I mean he was only at Marvel a year and creators/editors come and go each year.

Yes. Why not? It is a good topic to talk about. He is leaving to start a new company with others. This is sweet promotion for those who are interested in reading something new in comics. This is for us to know to keep an eye out on what might happen. There might be good comics coming our way from Aftershock. (+)

To add to what yung said, he's also a pretty well known editor. IIRC, his defection from DC to Marvel was covered on this site as well.

They really really are abusing lines and imagery from past movies to convince people to go. It's a cheap tactic and the sign of a bad movie.

interest in the character has really taken off since the last Avengers film

Has it? Are his comic sales better than they were prior?

One of the many mysteries that the "streamlined" New 52 universe has.
