I need to review Magneto's reaction time vs. how quickly IW Thor can fire out a lethal does of electricity.

Diamondback. Having a suit to contend with Luke Cage>>>Having one just to momentarily keep up with Cap

Inclined to agree here.

Throw Thor in the mix and Superman probably still wins.

@Thorverine

it was dark energy, and in the tie in comics it was a machine generating the energy, odin was just manipulating it

When has it been called energy in the movies?

@thorverine: Really you know for certain that it's a magic enchantment? All evidence points to the asgardians being high tech aliens, not magic gods. The enchantment you saw was more like a voice activated encryption that manipulates the hammers density based on a predetermined algorithm that scans the user to determine worth. Worth which is never explained and could be something as simple as direct blood of Odin. This theory why thor had to be mortal to not lift the hammer, and when Odin determined thor had learned his lesson and restored his godhood the hammer was sent back to him. If you recall thor didn't just lift the hammer, the hammer was sent to him. Unless you believe it has a mind of its own and seeks out the worthy like a green Lantern power ring. Vision can lift the hammer because he is not biological, and as such whatever encryption prevents mortals from manipulating it does not activate when vision holds it. The base weight of the hammer is what precluded the truck from moving it and from iron man and war machines hand gauntlet alone being able to lift it.

And while there are holes in this argument. If the hammer is that heavy in its base form than it would damage whatever surface it is placed on, this can be explained through practical plot purposes.

They went through great lengths to have the asgardians not be magical gods, it would seem counter to that to have the only aspect of magic be the enchanted hammer. It is often shown that thor requires to charge the hammer with electricity from the sky, which runs counter to the magic nature of thor from the comics.

They also mention Odin using Dark Magic a few times in the movies. They have not tried to walk away Odin Magic from it at all. In fact it's a consistent, albeit underlying theme.

@thorverine: Thor from mcu is not magic. Storms weather control will override the non magical lightning of mcu thor.

The hammer is enchanted with Odin magic. I agree Storm could impact the lighting he calls from the sky, but not what comes directly from the hammer itself, that is not weather. That is Odin Magic.

Not in the MCU... there is no magic. Asgardians are just high tech aliens with different physiology.

In the first Thor movie, Odin is seen putting an enchantment on the Hammer.

@thorverine: so with Xavier removed do the Avengers stand a better chance or no?

Oh yes. Especially if Thor is aware of Magneto's powers. Magneto's helmut would attract a Thor lightning strike. Could be big problems for the X-Men if Eric goes down quickly. This is an excellent match up. Lots of variables. Could Magneto control the hammer? If so, could Thor get off a killing lightning blast first? I'm not sure if we really have feats that make these answers conclusive so we need to speculate.
