I picked neither because I prefer it to align closer with the source material. The irony is that people say that most characters can just be changed because white is the "default" or just the because of the it was the race of creators stance goes contrary to a lot of those same people's believe of white privilege and male privilege existing or that being "white" isn't integral to a character.
For example do you really think a black Clark Kent growing up as a Kansas farmer would be identical to a white one or the world would react the same to a black Superman. Therefore wouldn't changing his race alter his personal story to some degree?
Or a female arms dealer like Tony Stark wouldn't have a tougher time or different experience than him.
Those would fundamentally alter the characters life experiences and therefore the character itself.
