Batman should use guns and all other manner of lethal force within reason, hell, Supes kills people. He's so dark and does so many dark things, but they refuse to allow him to use a weapon that all of his enemies and some of his friends make use of. Plenty of other heroes (some like Hulk who don't even need it) have used or currently use guns and it does not tarnish their image at all. Even Captain America uses guns and he's a total goody goody.
