Such a let down 2

I don't even know where to begin with this issue. I had such high hopes for a cool ending and this is the crap they put out.   First off, Why would you let on to what is going to happen with a cover like that? Are you serious? At least try and lead us on a little with what could happen in the future...  So Gus and Mr Jepperd fight their way, literally, to the preserve. Along the way, as they are attacked, Gus hits his head and passes out. He dreams of his father. But it is a strange and weird dr...

Solomon Grundy or Green lantern? 0

Eh. Bought this 7 issue set on ebay because I like the idea of Solomon Grundy. Until I read the first issue that is...  It was ok. But it's hard to really like a character when he has no redeeming qualities at all. And that is Solomon Grundy or Cyrus Gold. He was a killer reborn into a killer. Big Whoop. He didn't really have a sad story that you can latch onto. Unless you care about his father kicking his ass and being abusive.   It also seems to me the story of Solomon Grundy is more about Gre...

Well done. 0

Up for review here is A Very Zombie Christmas.   I picked this up last week in the comic shop. Flipped through it quickly to make my decision. To buy or not to buy, that is always the ultimate question! It is in black in white, but the stories inside might actually be better off because of that.    You get three mini stories in this comic: Unholy Night, The littlest Zombie Meets Santa, and You Better Watch Out.   Unholy Night is a story from WW2. Zombie Nazis. Sure it's been done before. In a ba...

Good stuff 0

Up for review here is Jericho #1 Civil War  Ok, when I first heard about this I was excited. Though I have to admit, at first I was like...Why are they calling it season 3, unless they did season 1 and 2 in comic form. I realize it is a continuation of the TV show, but still, might have been nice to just start from the begining for comic purposes.   Now I did like the show Jericho, but wasn't huge into it. For some reason I always liked the show Jeremiah better. And to me they are basically the ...

Nice #2, 297 0

Up for a quick review is Mickey Mouse and friends #297.   Read this to my son last night. We both really liked it. It was a nice continuation from the last issue...  This issue has the three sorcerers Mickey, Donald, and Goofy teaming up to be in the sorcerers tournament. The Dolmen Swamp is the scene for the round of high stakes hide and seek with some magic scrolls. Pete being evil as he is decides to cheat to make sure they go up against an easy team to beat. One team consists of fire breathi...

Back to where we started 0

Up for review here is Blackbeard: Legend of the Pyrate King #2.  Follow along as Teach kills off the Captain of the ship. He just couldn't take how mean this dude was any longer. The crew finds him standing over the captain's body and won't stand for it. They have to report him to the militia. Teach isn't going to stand around and wait, so he jumps off the ship and swims to land. As he hides, the militia searches for him. He runs to a tavern, which is also a house of ill repute. He gets a drink,...

Better then last issue 0

Up for a quick review here is Marvel's Super Hero Squad #2.   Read this to my son last night. It was a pretty good story over all. The story of Reptil and how he got his powers. Humberto Lopez touted as a smart kid with good grades but is extremely bored at home. He's doing a project for school, put together a time capsule and bury it outside of his house. Which when you think of it, why would the school have you do that? No way of checking on it. Anyway, as he is digging he finds a powerful sun...

Up for review here is Days Missing #3.   Follow along as the Steward goes to September 2008. Dr. Kate Prosper is about to stumble upon the secret to how the Steward folds time. First off, They decide to make the good doctor a typical blonde babe. I'm sorry, but I just don't buy it. I know you don't really want to make her ugly for a comic book chick. But give me a break and deviate from the norm a little.   Anyway she's trying to recoup some data from a giant project, one that that are doing in ...

Get your monster on 0

Up for review is We Kill Monsters # 5.   I love this stuff! This issue starts out with Vanessa's boyfriend, Dennis coming back into the house. (Last issue had him going out to his car where he seemingly met up with the killer rabbit monster) Vanessa pulls a gun on Dennis. She saw him outside talking to the monster. He tries to convince her it isn't what she thinks, but she doesn't have any of it. She duct tapes him down to the coffee table and heads to his work, Tronco.   While that is going on,...

Continuing the story... 0

So last issue brought us the two Green Arrows. And that had me (a newbie to Green Arrow) scratching my head with a WTF moment. This issue picks up with GA on an island, with a younger GA. He's passed out having a dream. After he chats with himself about getting his mind right he wakes up and we are basically brought back to where the last issue left off. The attack scene featuring the two GAs. The battle ensues, including Speedy and Black Canary. We come to find that the second GA really believe...

Pretty good stuff 0

Ok I have to admit I loved Sweet Tooth #1. Sweet Tooth #2 was a little slow for me but it was still good. And this, #3 was pretty cool with a couple of weak points.   So this issue picks up with Gus pulling a horse, who is carrying Mr. Jepperd. Mr. Jepperd is hurting from the attack in issue 2 and so Gus decides to call it a night, and camp out inside an old farm house. He leaves Mr. Jepperd and the horse there and goes to a nearby house to look for food and bandages. While in the house he ends ...

Groo, too much politics with your comic? 2

Groo: The Hogs of Horder #1.   I saw this on Comixology, and picked it up the other day. It looked like a fun comic. Reminded me of the sunday comics all jammed into one book.   So, tonight I decided to read it as I didn't want to read anything heavy. Wanted a nice light, funny story. And that is what I got. Groo goes from town to town, searching out job after job just to make some "Kopins" or money. And then, seemingly, just for some food for himself and his trusty sidekick Rufferto the dog.   ...

Why because we like it! 2

Quick review here gang:  Mickey Mouse and Friends issue #296. This is the best kids comic i've read so far. Nothing against Toy Story, Cars, or Super Hero Squad. But when I read this to my son, it was actually entertaining to me as well.   The story is: Mickey is an apprentice to a village sorcerer, Master Nereus.  And the village is owner to a magic crystal, a "Diamagic" as they call it. Well, the Master is needed at the great library and that leaves Mickey in charge of the crystal. Pete, a tra...

Beautiful Creatures 2 of 2 0

Up for review we have Beautiful Creatures #2 of 2.   So the story picks up pretty much where we left off in issue #1. There are 4 college aged friends who are somehow linked to each other and linked to the past. Long ago past.   Flashback to about 1000 years ago. One of the girls is a Banshee, and is about to be killed by this "Fat" man. Their arch enemy who seems to get the best of the girls every 1000 years. He gains his power by killing other creatures. And each time the girls try and fail at...

Big things happening, nice full issue. 3

Up for review is The Stand: Soul Survivors #1.   What can I say. I love this stuff! This issue has us follow along as Nick Andros meets up with Tom Cullen, M-O-O-N that spells Tom Cullen! Sorry, after spending a night along side Tom Cullen Nick has to decide whether to take Tom with him or leave him there on the road, playing with his toys. On the road they feel something coming, is it Randall Flagg? Or is it a tornado? Tom runs off into a barn with Nick following after, looking for him. In the ...

Shiver me timbers! 0

Here we have a new comic, issue #1 of Blackbeard Legend of the Pyrate King. I saw this on Comixology and thought the preview looked pretty cool. So I added it to my pick up list last wednesday.   The story starts out with a massive storm, a young deck hand, Mr Collins, is on the top sail but it's too much for him to handle. He needs help from Mr. Teach. Who is in charge of all the shipmen. The captain hears of this and wants to flog whoever was responsible for the mistake. The captain ends up ki...

Trix are not just for kids anymore! 0

We Kill Monsters #4. This issue starts out at the police station. The cops are getting call after call reporting monsters all around town. And before they leave to go out on on patrol to check things out they get a rude surprise...  Then the Basher brothers and Vanessa are seen driving in town trying to make a call, but getting no service. Something is interfering with their signal. Something seems to be effecting the whole area. On the streets they run into Vanessa's current boyfriend, Dennis. ...

Green Arrow, take two? 0

Ok so bear in mind this is only my second issue of Green Arrow. For the most part i'm not into super hero type comics. But I did want to try something new so I started with Green Arrow.   The last issue, #24 had us leave off with Green Arrow leaving to kind of sort things out or clear his mind...And this issues picks up kind of in a different place. Which was a little weird for me until I read the book through.   He wakes up naked in an alley not remembering much of anything. He has some dealing...

Sweet Tooth issue 2, pretty strong 0

Issue #2 picks up where we left off in issue one: Showing Gus the kid, The hunter, and the Big Man aka Jepperd. Gus has a decision to make, to stay at home by himself where he is comfortable and knows his surroundings. Or, to ignore his dead father's warnings about never leaving the deep woods and go on a trek with Jepperd. They head out, and stop for the night behind a run down gas station. There they encounter a gang of sorts looking to take Gus for their own.   Where does this lead? Will Gus ...

5 stars all around 0

I'll be brief, as there are a few great reviews of this already.   I bought this last week, not knowning if it would be worth it or not. Well, the first issue is .99 cents, and I picked up the second one as well.   So, from the story you get that the main character is some type of time traveler that has endured millions of years here on earth. But why? His story unfolds at the end and we see just what his purpose is.   Also, this first issue is reminicent of the comic, The Stand by Stephen King ...

Go to your comic shop right now and buy this. 0

So I picked this up yesterday and wasn't sure how much I would like it. It's a double issue, but at $4.95 I was a little worried it would be a waste of money. Well, it wasn't.   Issue #1 of 2:  This story has you start off in the near future, 2012. In England. Following 4 college aged girlfriends as they come to discover they have more things in common then they could ever imagine. After a night of drinking they crash at Amelie's house. Dip in the jacuzzi, few more drinks, call it a night. All s...

Loves me some monster killing 0

So I just finished We Kill Monsters #3 (Of 6) And I really like this book.   Let me give you a quick run down of the story if you don't already know it: Jake and Andrew the Basher brothers run an auto shop in a country town. They are attacked by some type of monster/creature in the first issue and Basher brother Jake is wounded by this beast. The wound is on Jake's left arm, and low and behold that gets "monsterfied" as you see on this issue's cover.   Andrew's exgirlfriend, Vanessa,  who is one...

#5 American Nightmares leaves me wanting more 0

Stephen King's The Stand...This is the series that brought me to comic books not that long ago.   To me the art that Mike Perkins is putting out on this is so elite, few can match his skills.   This issue has you follow along with Nick Andros a deaf mute who has to make a decision on which path to take. With the walking dude and evil or the old lady and the path of god. We also watch Larry Underwood as he has to deal with the death of a traveling companion. And the first encounter of Stu Redman...

I'm sweet on Sweet Tooth 0

G Man and a few others have reviewed this, so I'll keep this short.   Sweet Tooth #1 is awesome in my opinion! It has an almost, The Village, feel to it. Gus the deer like boy lives in a forest with his dying dad. He is warned not to leave, ever. Gus hears things in the woods a few times as he gathers wood. Twigs snapping etc. He then finds a candy bar in the snow, as you see in the cover image. All throughout the book Gus has a dream of a man looking at him, his face, the big man. At the end af...

Leprechaun 1-3 review 1

Well i'll give a quick  review of Leprechaun 1-3 on this first issue cover, as issues 2 and 3 are not on here.   To me this is the best series Blue Water Comics has going for them. Unless you like the cheesy political books they put out.   Issue 1 has you follow along as a Iubdan king of the leprechaun goes looking for his missing/stolen gold coins. He needs the gold to gain power and basically kills everyone that has his gold, except a geeky fanboy type that tags along for the journey, aka Etha...

The Last Resort, make it your last resort for a comic 0

I don't like to rip on comics too bad. Because to each his own, and I could never imagine to draw or make one.   But this comic stinks! The artwork is absolutely horrible. At one point in the comic, when they have a rain storm, you actually get a headache trying to read and follow it because it has way way too much going on art wise.   As far as the story goes, there is a part at the begining where a guy is taken to his girl, apparently after he cheated on her, and done away with. But you just d...

Great book to read to your kids 0

This is my first review so bare with me a little as I make this short and sweet! I went to the comic book store a few days ago to pick up a couple of issues for myself, and strolled over to the kids area to look for a book or two to get for my 5 year old son. Together we had already polished off the Toy Story series put out by Boom comics. What to get next? Well they had some Incredibles, Cars, Nemo, Eh. Muppets? No thanks, they jumped the shark when I was a kid!   Then I saw this book. Cute kid...
