Movies of 2011

I recently got curious and searched on IMDb for the list of movies that are being released in 2011. Their list was over 3000 movies long. I decided to take the most interesting ones from the first 300 listed and share them with you. I have 2 warnings. Superman and Batman Dual Identities and Body Size in Movies

Okay I know a lot of people will disagree with me but there are probably a few that agree. I’ve seen every Superman movies with Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh. I watch Smallville. I’ve seen every Batman movie and I’ve seen the Adam West Batman show. Yes, they’re all entertaining, of course. But everyone usually complains about one little thing or another. I can come up with at least 5 mistakes for every Batman movie that came up before Nolan took over. But that isn’t really the point. After realizing that we are in need of a new actor for Superman, I realized the flaws in the actors that have already played Superman and Batman. Since Batman 3 is the last Nolan-verse Batman movie, there is a chance that someone else will take over and if so, we might not get Christian Bale back as Batman. So since there could be casting choices, I say we should do it right for once.

I’ll start with Adam West. He was very entertaining and has definitely become synonymous with the word Batman, but I don’t think he played the character well. Actually, he played the campy version to the T. But if we were just comparing him to the current style of Batman, then he has failed to portray the dual identity that we know and love. I say he had it 33.3%. He played the Bruce Wayne part well, but he did not do the Batman part well. And also, he wasn’t built like Batman.

I didn’t like Michael Keaton too much as Batman. He was still better George Clooney though. He also got a 33.3% for just doing the Bruce Wayne part well. He didn’t have a darkness and he wasn’t built like Batman.

Val Kilmer also has a 33.3% for doing Bruce Wayne right. Still no dark side or a built body.

George Clooney just sucked badly. He didn’t give me a sense of Bruce Wayne. He didn’t have the darkness to Batman. And he didn’t have the body that we see in the comics and cartoons. He has a whopping 0%.

Christian Bale did a good job on the side of Bruce Wayne. He impressed me by having the dark voice and having the relationship with Gordon. The downside was that he wasn’t built like Batman and wasn’t that tall either. He got a 66.6%.

As for Superman, Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh were pretty good for being the character but I really don’t like the size quality on their bodies. Reeve really wasn’t as big as Superman was in the cartoons and comics.

Brandon Routh was bigger than Christopher Reeve but he still wasn’t big enough to me.

Tom Welling is tough to grade on this. He portrays the qualities of Superman well. He is really close to being as big as Superman. Probably need to see him in costume. As for playing Clark Kent, he’s not up to par on the look of Clark Kent and doesn’t play a bumbling reporter. He seems more like Superman in street clothing with the name of Clark Kent.

They started the casting rumors and Zachary Levi is listed as auditioning for the role of Superman. But ever since I saw a drawing of Superman on a Wizard Magazine cover, I have had one particular person in mind to play Superman. John Cena.

Now to wrap up, my point is that we need actors who are the size and build of the comic book and cartoon versions of Superman and Batman. It was okay for Spider-Man to be lanky and slim. Even Chris Evans plans on being super built to play Captain America. They need to be tall and built large.

They should look like these two.
They should look like these two.

Ideal X-Men: First Class Movie to follow X-Men Trilogy

I wish it was that easy...
I wish it was that easy...
Okay so we are all mixed up over the ideas that are coming out for casting and characters in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. I have come up with an idea for Fox to make this movie understandable for to be connected to the original X-Men trilogy and still tell the story from the actual comic book. Everyone is complaining because the team is not consisting of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman, and Angel. Professor Xavier and Magneto were a given and were casted early. But it turns out, based on the trilogy, Iceman and Angel cannot be in this movie without unraveling everything they have already done and rebooting the series. A reboot would be okay but wouldn't work due to the other X-Men projects in production like X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE 2 and X-MEN ORIGINS: DEADPOOL. So what Fox needs to do is use some of the original team and work out a few small details to make it work. It is easy to put Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Beast in the movie as teenagers and Beast not having blue fur. But there also needs to be 2 or 3 more characters added. I say 3 because 5 for a team isn't set in stone after the changes that have already been made. First member to add and pretend was an original would be Storm. You can add a couple extra like maybe Banshee and Emma Frost. If you put Havok in it, he should just be a little kid who is shown as Cyclops' family. And if you make them go the route of the origin story from the comic, it should work out pretty well. Just have a Wolverine cameo in the background for kicks and giggles. And to tie it into X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, you can put Gambit in a cameo too.

The Question movie?

No Caption Provided
Let's forget my DC Universe movies idea for right now. I have an idea for a DC Comics movie that doesn't need to be in the DC Universe of movies. They should make THE QUESTION. Of course it would have to be Vic Sage and not Renee Montoya. I don't know who the best villain would be, but they could make this into a gritty, dark, suspense/mystery movie. In my opinion, the best way to get people to watch is to not advertise it on TV as a DC Comics movie. They should pretend its a regular mystery movie except he has no face and stuff. But of course they can advertise online that its a DC Comics movie to the comic book fans. And then when the movie is over and the credits are about to roll, show the logo and the movie fans might want to get into it more.

Sound like a good idea? What do you guys think? Who should be the villain?

Comic Book Characters in Real Life

No Caption Provided
No Caption Provided
Do you know the odds of meeting someone who has the same name as a character in a comic book? I personally know of two. And they live in the same city. I used to live in Bakersfield, California and there are two residents of the city named Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker. One of the radio DJs is named Bruce Wayne and has admitted that his parents named him after Batman. My friend's ex-girlfriend was named Allison Parker. Her younger brother's name was Peter. Peter Parker. So we had Batman on the radio and my friend dating Spider-Man's sister.

I'm Writing a Superhero Novel Series.

Okay, I am an up and coming writer who wants to break into the comic book business. But that's not all I want to do. I also want to write movies, novels, plays, whatever. Right now, my plan to get noticed by DC Comics (my dream job) is to write a superhero novel. Basically its a bunch of teenagers and young adults who get super powers. Because of the fact that there is a knowledge of current pop culture in the movie, the characters do know about DC Comics and Marvel Comics and their properties. The characters have watched THE DARK KNIGHT and IRON MAN. They've heard of Kick-Ass and Scott Pilgrim. There is even a character who really wants to call the team the X-Men. But the main character is a comic book nerd and decides that it is in their best interests not to use names owned by comic book companies. This is where I need help. I have a total of 32 characters who will make up the heroes and villains of the first book. I needed to make up codenames and originally made up a bunch of random names for each character. After going back a month or two later and going over what I have done, I realized a lot of the names sounded horribly lame. So now I need help with naming characters with specific powers. Whoever helps will be credited on the book and will be negotiated with on creative rights and fees.

This is Why We Need A JLA or Superman/Batman Movie...

Okay so I was on Facebook the other day and one of my friends posted on her status: "Who is the better hero? Superman or Batman?"
A very normal thing because people compare them a lot. But this is where it got horrible: People who knew barely anything about either of them were voting. Some people said: "Batman isn't a superhero. He's a rich brat with a complex. What's up with Arkham Asylum? Easiest place to break out of."
It gets worse. Someone offered Deadpool and people who were voting were confused because they never heard of Deadpool.
The topic of them fighting each other was brought up and most people said that Superman could kill Batman easily. A couple people brought up the Kryptonite ring but this was the reaction to that: "What is with all this Superman and Batman talking stuff? I've heard this twice now and where was I when this happened?"
Then someone asked what Batman's weakness was...
I had to explain the Kryptonite ring situation and this was the response I got: "I really had no clue that Batman and Superman even knew each other existed. I thought they were just in different comic book worlds."
Then I asked if she ever saw any of the Justice League cartoons or knew they were both in the Justice League and she said no.

This is why we need either a JLA movie or a Superman/Batman movie. People don't know that they are friends or that they live in the same universe.

DC Universe Movies

 DC Universe
 DC Universe
Originally when I heard that Christopher Nolan was not going to have Robin in any of his movies and that BATMAN 3 was going to be the last Batman movie, I decided to make up my own BATMAN 3 how I would have done it if DC Entertainment had brought me in to do it instead of Christopher Nolan. I created a synopsis and a list of characters for the movie. It was called BATMAN: REDEMPTION. It had both Robin and Batgirl in it. It also had a grand total of 12 villains appearing in the movie. Only 2 of them were the main villains. You would see the following: Penguin, Riddler, Mr. Zsasz, Mad Hatter, Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Ra’s al Ghul, Salvatore Maroni, Jock-Boy Vanzetti, Talia al Ghul, and Selena Kyle. It also had Vicki Vale in it. The point of it was for the movie to show that it was all one big interactive universe inside of Gotham City. All the villains knew of each other and coexisted. Some fought each other as well. Riddler was supposed to represent the evolution from a mobster villain and the eccentricity of the villains we see today. Joker was a primitive evolution in THE DARK KNIGHT and Riddler plays off it very well.

Then I remembered everyone always talking about how they wanted to see Batman’s major comic storylines turned into movies as well. So I tried to make some more sequels to introduce major villains and then transition into the movies adaptations of major storylines. The following storylines became sequel ideas: A Death in the Family, The Killing Joke, KnightFall/KnightsEnd, No Man’s Land, Under the Hood, Batman and Son, RIP, Battle for the Cowl, Reborn, and Return of Bruce Wayne. The sequels I made up to come before the adaptations were: BATMAN: RA’S AL GHUL RETURNS and BATMAN: GOTHAM ON ICE. Both movies implicated the returns of Ra’s al Ghul, Two-Face, and Killer Croc. (Killer Croc is introduced in BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHT which counts as Batman 1.5). The two movies are also used to introduce Nightwing, Jason Todd, Clayface, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Mr. Freeze.

Then I heard about the tenth season of SMALLVILLE coming next year and that it would most likely be the final season. I also heard that Clark will finally become Superman in the season at some point. Then I recently read the article where Tom Welling says he still wants to play Clark Kent after the tenth season and wishes he could get more seasons to do so. Also we all remember that due to projects in the works, SMALLVILLE could not portray Batman, Wonder Woman, Barry Allen, Wally West, or Green Lantern in the show. They were allowed to only use Jay Garrick, Bart Allen, and Alan Scott in reference to those characters not allowed.

So I figured why not connect everything existing right now into one universe. That would mean that Christian Bale and Ryan Reynolds could make guest appearances in SMALLVILLE as Batman and Hal Jordan. We all know that would most likely be way too big for a television show. So I came with up the idea to make the series finale of season 10 to be a two hour event. Clark should have become Superman early or halfway through the season. Or maybe at the beginning of the two hour event. Not the end. And at the end, he saves a plane from crashing into the Daily Planet. The plane is owned by Wayne Enterprises. After Superman puts the plane down and helps the passengers out of the plane, he meets Bruce Wayne (played by Christian Bale). They introduce themselves and after Superman exclaims: “I’m Superman!” the whole series is over. And then it should jump into the movie: THE MAN OF STEEL.

That’s where my genius idea of connecting a whole universe of movies comes in. The Batman series, the new Superman series, and the Green Lantern series are all connected along with SMALLVILLE. But a universe cannot stand alone on just those three movie series and one television series. You need more movies to go along with. So then I made up two more movies: WONDER WOMAN and THE FLASH. Learning from the methods that Marvel Studios are using for the Avengers movies to be connected, I created a way for them all to connect into BATMAN: RA’S AL GHUL RETURNS and JUSTICE LEAGUE.

That is where the universe kicks off from there. As a result of JUSTICE LEAGUE, we get two new movies: AQUAMAN and GREEN ARROW. All the actors that made appearances on SMALLVILLE as heroes from the DC Universe reprise their roles as the characters in the movies. Using the same methods from AVENGERS and JUSTICE LEAGUE, I use those two movies to lead into TEEN TITANS. After that, you get SUPERMAN: FRACTURED REFLECTION, BATMAN: GOTHAM ON ICE, WONDER WOMAN: FIGHTING FEAR, THE FLASH: RUNNING IN REVERSE, GREEN LANTERN 2, and JUSTICE LEAGUE: ULTIMATE ENEMY.

Then from the events in JLUE, you get: SUPERMAN: THE RETURN OF ZOD, BATMAN: FAMILY DEATH, WONDER WOMAN 3, THE FLASH: BRAND NEW RACE, GREEN LANTERN 3, AQUAMAN: FAMILY BETRAYAL, GREEN ARROW: TERMINATED, THE ATOM, CAPTAIN MARVEL, BLUE BEETLE, FIRESTORM, and JUSTICE LEAGUE: LOSING CONTROL. A spin-off of the Batman series comes during that set of films called NIGHTWING.

The next set of films include: SUPERMAN 4, BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE, WONDER WOMAN 4, THE FLASH 4, GREEN LANTERN 4, AQUAMAN 3, GREEN ARROW 3, CAPTAIN MARVEL 2, JUSTICE LEAGUE 4, and TEEN TITANS: DEMON HUNT.

After that, there are no sets but still ideas for sequels that include: BATMAN: KNIGHTFALL, BATMAN: KNIGHTSEND, JUSTICE LEAGUE 5, THE FLASH 5, BATMAN: NO MAN’S LAND, TEEN TITANS: GRADUATION DAY, BATMAN: UNDER THE HOOD, BATMAN: SON OF THE BAT, BATMAN: REST IN PEACE, BATMAN: BATTLE FOR THE COWL, BATMAN: A NEW KNIGHT, and BATMAN: THE LEGEND RETURNS. Also, another spin-off of the Batman series is RED ROBIN.

There are other characters not listed to have their own movies but will appear in the movies listed. They are the following: Martian Manhunter, Black Canary, Plastic Man, Hawkman, Booster Gold, Zatanna, Red Tornado, Black Lightning, and Steel. The following characters will appear in movies due to the Teen Titans movie series: Wally West, Aqualad/Tempest, Donna Troy, Roy Harper, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Raven, Jesse Quick, Damage, Argent, Tim Drake, Conner Kent, Cassie Sandsmark, Supergirl, and Bart Allen. The following villains will make appearances in any of the movies I have listed (Including the movies already out): Scarecrow, Ra’s al Ghul, Carmine Falcone, Joe Chill, Mr. Zsasz, Killer Croc, Deadshot, Joker, Two-Face, Salvatore Maroni, Anthony Gamble, Hector Hammond, Sinestro, Star Sapphire, Penguin, Riddler, Mad Hatter, Jocko-Boy Vanzetti, Talia al Ghul, Catwoman, Lex Luthor, Brainiac, Cheetah, Dr. Psycho, Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Poison Ivy, Clayface, the White Martians, Black Manta, Ocean Master, Merlyn, Mr. Twister, Mad Mod, Ding-Dong Daddy, Bizarro, Mr. Freeze, Professor Zoom, Gorilla Grodd, Professor IvoAmazo, General Zod, Man-Bat, Lady Shiva, Blockbuster, Torque, Shrike, Trickster, Pied Piper, Heat Wave, Weather Wizard, Deathstroke, Dr. Sivana, Black Adam, Starro, Trigon, Terra, Bane, Azrael, Scarface, Ventriloquist, Black Mask, Harley Quinn, Mercy Graves, David Cain, Brother Blood, Ravager, Red Hood, Dr. Hurt, the Black Glove, Scarlet, Firefly, Professor Pyg, Flamingo, and Darkseid.

This is my idea and I want to pitch it to DC Entertainment so that it could become a reality. I will write a lot of the stories myself with help from others if needed. I already figured out ways to make them work together in a universe.

What do you guys think? Should there be more that I have overlooked? Anything you think should be taken out? Any big storylines or villains you want to see in a movie? I might just add your ideas to my proposal.

Green Lantern and Flash Deserve Renumbering too!

As we all know, Marvel has been renumbering their top characters' series like Captain America, Thor, and Spider-Man. Actually Spider-Man has always had a high number.

This year, Superman and Batman will reach #700. Next year, Action Comics will reach #900. Also this year, Wonder Woman will be renumbered after #44 into #600. This is pretty cool but why does it have to stop there? I did some math and there are other characters that should get their renumbering recognition too.

It turns out that if you count it up, The Flash has exactly the same number of issues as Wonder Woman. (If you count both Wally's and Bart's series.) He should reach #600 too. As of the posting date to this blog, there are exactly 523 issues of Green Lantern and 71 issues of Green Lantern Corps. Green Lantern should be renumbered, but GLC isn't exactly in need of a renumbering though.

Green Arrow is about to get another #1. If added up with GA/BC, that #1 will be the 249th Green Arrow issue. He needs a renumbering too. If Aquaman and Martian Manhunter were to get new series following Brightest Day, they should get renumberings too. Aquaman has 217 issues under his name and Martian Manhunter has 48. Perhaps Martian Manhunter can start from #1 and when added up correctly, renumber to #100 at the right time. Supergirl also has 169 issues to her name too. Someone not as famous, Booster Gold, has 56.

Don't forget the teams. Justice League of America has 652 issues and Justice Society of America has 182. Teen Titans has 453 issues and Titans has 73. The Outsiders has 197 issues too.

Some of these series need renumberings. Flash, Green Lantern, and Green Arrow the most of all.
