Female Thor make sense just because of the inscription on the hammer: "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." Thor could be her hero name. Even Thor had a different name in his human form.
How does female Thor make sense when the inscription says, "...if HE be worthy..."? Besides, Thor was Thor before he ever wielded Mjolnir.
My problem with comic diversity nowadays is that they take an established name (e.g. Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Ms. Marvel, Wally West, etc) and give it to some minority as if he has earned that name. Instead, they should come up with original names for these new characters and build from there.
