I'm so sick of all these Vampires

Has anyone else noticed that every other movie, or TV show that comes out is about vampires.

Its really starting to get to me. Twilight actually beat Dark Knight in the MTV movie awards. Thats just so wrong.

They're not even cool Vampires. Thanks to Twilight, we now are in the times of wussy (female-idealized) vampires (although Anne Rice apparently contributed, though I haven't heard of much of her work). What happened to Dracula? Back when Vampires, were, you know, evil and interesting and whatnot? They had style? Class?

Hell, I'd even prefer to dumbed-down, revved up zombie style vampires, like in 30 Days of Night.

I hate the angsty eurotrash vampire guy in Twilight, his character was just created to make teen girls swoon.
Movies like 30 Days of Night are o.k, but the vampires are pretty much just zombies with fangs.

Yeah, it's somewhat......disconcerting, I guess. Oh well, it will pass, eventually. After they crank out the rest of the Twilight sequels. Oy vey.

Does no one appreciate vikings anymore? What happened to guys who could rip your face of with their toe. Ninjas and Pirates are cool but Vikings will always be better in my book.

I hate the twilight vampires. Vampires are supposed to be scary. Oprah is scarier than the twilight vampires. My favorite vampire is Cassidy from Preacher. He is one but he doesn't sulk about it. He is glad he's a vampire but doesn't let it change him. For example, he likes beer more than blood.

I'm pissed how Hollywood ruins everything  cool. First it was cowboys, then vampires and now everyone thinks they no more about superheroes then real comic book fans just because they saw the movie. I loved Iron Man, it was a good film but now every fake gangster in my school are wearing shirts with him on it.

I know! I saw this dude at my school wearing a Secret Invasion T-shirt, and when I asked him about it he didn't even know what it was.

I had a conversation with a guy about The Hulk and all he knew was what he had seen or read in both movies and probably some crappy website. I can respect people who admit they don't know and ask questions but not if you're just basis his info on a movie.

Nosferatu is my favorite vampire film.

@Secret Turchin Man: Read Dracula, you probably read it already but is still one of those books you have to re-read. Oh, and the author for Twilight has never read Dracula.  Like always some idiot ruins something without knowing what truly made it great.

Ninja's have already been ruined.

There are many different types of vampires as it seems that every vampire fiction has a different sort of vampire. Some are good and some are bad. The vampires from Peeps by Scott Westerfield are good for example. I liked them.

The Twilight Vampires are an abomination. Crappy characters in crappy fiction.

And they sparkle. WTF is with that?

This is what I've been SAYING!!! What happened to Dracula? They were EVIL then, they had powers, they had flaws, they were rulers and slaves to the supernatural. They made GREAT villians.
Now they're just humans with "advanges". And Edward Cullen? Since when are VAMPIRES knights in *sparkling* armor?! Vampires are practically the epitome of sociopath with a lust for blood. They don't care, they don't love, not really.

You don't even know what a vampire IS freakin' fangirls! Lame.

LOL

Might have to agree with Akwa about Ninjas. Only cool ones I like are in book form. Only one or two movies about ninjas I liked are from years ago. Vampire genre went downhill in just a few years. The last vampire I enjoyed was Angel series finale in 2004.

Then nothing for a few years and CBS airs a vamp show called Moonlight in 2007. I watched a couple eps but it was not for me. It was almost like a prologue for the following year when Twilight and True Blood just became the hot items. Maybe thats why the CW has the Vampire Diaries premiering this fall.

They all have this twist to the vampire mythos. Twilight has the worst version. Vampires that sparkle in the sun is like someone changing into a werewolf when he sees a picture of the moon. Like this guy.

I'm blaming women :P

Well, maybe just the middle/high school girls.

Couldn't they make a movie appealing to the young female masses, but have it at least remain somewhat faithful to vampire lore as a whole? I mean, why don't they just make a Dracula-esque movie, but have Hugh Jackman (or somebody, I don't know, girls seem to go crazy for Jackman) as the main vampire antagonist.

well to get preteen and teen girls, the vampire has to be romantic and that's basically going to make him different from what the rest of us want to see in a vampire.  even if they started out with the vampire seeming to be romantic or actually romantic with one woman and yet a bloodthirsty monster with everyone else... its jut not gonna work.

I'm so sick of these vampires. Always coming into the blood bank after hours, and wrecking up the place. Then they come at you with that door-to-door "Eternal Life" crap. The kids are the worst though. Every time I have to step foot inside a shopping mall during the day, I'm blinded by their damned twinkly skin conditions. In my day vampires treated humans with respect! Only coming out at night, and generally keeping to themselves. They were more accommodating - most of them wouldn't knock at the door if you just hung some garlic up. Those days seem to be at an end. Vampires today, I'm telling you...

Nosferatu was hideous and the idea for came from culmination of old rulers in Europe who committed horrible acts of violence, like bathing in blood, making rooms out of skeletons, decapitations and people who enjoyed complete solitude.

I don't mind the Twilight vampires. The books and movies are love stories so the girls love it but there is some cool stuff from the books that my girlfriend has told me about. They actually don't sparkle in the books either they are just explained to be really goodlooking (beautiful i guess). Just because they are different deosn't make them not vampires. They have none of the weaknesess of "regular" vampires, seems like an upgrade to me. Vampires have been poytrayed different in alot of things. The Blade movies they were a disease same as I am Legend (the movie, not sure about the book versions).
and about their "super beauty", haven't vampires always been like that in a way, so suave and cool that they just lure in people as victims with out even a hunt, it's basically what the Twilight vampires are described to do to normal humans, they just named it "Super Beauty" like it's part of their list of vampire abilities.
Correct me if i'm wrong about vampires always luring in prey in that manner.

Vampires aren't usually beautiful, they attract others with mind control, and old vampires were usually from a high class so they were suave to begin with.

Well before Twilight and Vampires it was Wizards and Harry Potter, before that it was some crap with Witchcraft.

Before the Jonas Bros. and Zac Efron it was Backstreet Boys and N'SYNC.

Point in case, there will always be some stupid trend people will follow because the market thrives off of mindless sheeps that flock to whatever the mainstream media throws at them. Some people just love being in love with pure crap.

and about their "super beauty", haven't vampires always been like that in a way, so suave and cool that they just lure in people as victims with out even a hunt, it's basically what the Twilight vampires are described to do to normal humans, they just named it "Super Beauty" like it's part of their list of vampire abilities.
Correct me if i'm wrong about vampires always luring in prey in that manner.

"

People can write vampires however they want, and if you want to write angsty teen love stories then more power to you.
The problem is that every other movie, and book, and TV show out is about vampires now. The genre is getting tired.

"Eventually this trend will end and the idiots will find something else to ruin. "
In that case, I don't want it to be ninjas. "
there is a ninja movie coming out i think next year: its about a defective ninja who i believe ends up hunting the other ninjas that he defected from: set in modern times and they are the modern world's greatest unknown assassins. and there is also what i think is a awsome movie about vampires....this one is set in the future.. its called daybreakers i wanna fckn check this out..twilight was gay and i think 30 days of nights had a great depiction of vampires...

i blame the vampire problem sqaurely on the writter of twilight and the dumb asses who by the crap. I bet she just watched something like buffy and was like hmm what if the vamps where even more sissy and slightly younger so i can make millions of dumb teenage girls. I am hoping the last twilight book  contains them being slaughtered by a combination of blade and dracula who have had enough of them ruining there image

I wish somebody would make a Vampire Hunter D movie.  Thats the only vampire flick I would be willing to see, other than that I think we all need a big vamp break.

" They're not even cool Vampires. Thanks to Twilight, we now are in the times of wussy (female-idealized) vampires (although Anne Rice apparently contributed, though I haven't heard of much of her work). What happened to Dracula? Back when Vampires, were, you know, evil and interesting and whatnot? They had style? Class?Hell, I'd even prefer to dumbed-down, revved up zombie style vampires, like in 30 Days of Night. "
dont blame women!  i like dracula much more than these lightweight vampires. "
I'm blaming women :PWell, maybe just the middle/high school girls.Couldn't they make a movie appealing to the young female masses, but have it at least remain somewhat faithful to vampire lore as a whole? I mean, why don't they just make a Dracula-esque movie, but have Hugh Jackman (or somebody, I don't know, girls seem to go crazy for Jackman) as the main vampire antagonist. "
well to get preteen and teen girls, the vampire has to be romantic and that's basically going to make him different from what the rest of us want to see in a vampire.  even if they started out with the vampire seeming to be romantic or actually romantic with one woman and yet a bloodthirsty monster with everyone else... its jut not gonna work."
I have nothing against romance, but there needs to be more to a story than angsty teen love. "
lol angsty teen love.  that's priceless
