There have been many shocking moments in comics, but I want to know what you, the Viners, think was the most surprising moment for your favorite character's. It doesn't have to be anything big, it could just be some small revelation about the character that caught you by surprise. Like something he said or did. An example would be something like Snake-Eyes taking his mask off for the first time, to reveal his scared and hideous face, or Rictor saying he was Bi. I'm looking for things like that for this thread. Just random moments in comics that caught you completely by surprise.
I myself have yet to really find a moment that completely took me by surprise. I mean there have been a few times where I was like, "wait.. what just happened," or was like, "what he'd just say", but no moment really stands out in my head as a total surprise. And, I guess that's why I'm curious to know if any of you really have a moment that just stands out, as completely shocking?
The battle takes place inside the Mall of America: Bloomington, Minnesota. The Combatants are given an hour of prep time after learning who their opponents are. They can use anything they find, and any weapon, or skills that they have. Teams MUST be evenly matched! No DC or Marvel Characters can be used!
If you could be any comic book character for one week, who would you be, and why? Also, as that character would you do anything to farther enhance them, or would you do things that could tarnish their reputation?
40 comic book characters have been randomly summoned to MSG and are placed inside a wrestling ring. The characters in the rumble are introduced into the fight every 90 seconds. Characters are eliminated by being thrown over the top rope and both feet touching the floor. Powers and weapons can be used to help win, but are restricted to minimal damage. The following is the order of how the combatants enter the rumble. Who wins?
Rules: If Snake-Eyes had to run a gauntlet against the following Ninjas, how far would he get before being defeated. Snake-Eyes gets a 10 minute break between fights. The ninjas can use any type of weapon. All G.I. Joe ninjas are under mind control, so Snake-Eyes must fight and defeat his teammates in order to save them. Defeated ninjas can not come back to help.
If there was an archery competition between Storm Shadow, Zartan, Green Arrow, and Hawkeye who would win? Green Arrow and Hawkeye are not allowed to use special arrows for this competition, just regular arrows. The contestants are not firing at regular targets, but at civilians in a crowded city (Green Arrow and Hawkeye are under mind-control, so shooting civilians doesn't matter to them at this point). The competition ends when all archers are out of arrows. Whoever has slain the most people is the winner. Take into account both Zartan's ability to camouflage, as well as the fact that he has never missed an assassination via bow and arrow, and Storm Shadows ability, "The Ear That Sees", which allows him to hear the heartbeat of people from beyond a wall, and slay them. Most people know both Green Arrow and Hawkeye's abilities so I don't feel I need to explain their talents. If you don't know any of the talents that these men posses, then check on the links to their pages before answering. With all the competitors loose in a crowded city, which archer walks away the winner?
I'm sure this has been done or asked before, but I'm curious as to who you (the people that read this) think is the Greatest Comic Book Character Ever Created? I want to know why each of you think _______________ is the best ever, and I'm curious to see what arguments arise because someone thinks _____________ is the best, and someone else disagrees.
I have been reading comics since I was a kid, and as a kid I had no problem buying one or two comics like once every other month. As I grew my interest in comics grew. I soon found myself buying multiple titles like once every couple of days. I did that for many years, but after a while, I felt like all my money was going to comics, and most of the stories I was reading had small gaps missing, since I was unable to read just one series at a time, and I had to chose between which title I thought was more important. I eventually stopped buying comics all together, but hated doing so. After about four years of not buying comics I decided to go back to comics. I wasn't sure where I wanted to start, and I also didn't want to spend all my money chasing after multiple titles again, so I turned to Graphic Novels. With the Graphic Novels it was easy to buy entire series of the characters I always loved, and catch up to the current stream of comics. However I have found it almost impossible to get certain books to some series. So, I was wondering if anyone knows why the following two books can't be found in stores or online (unless you want to spend like 8X the actual retail price of the book), or if they know where I can find them for a reasonable price?
