in my oh-so-very-humble opinion, all the biting wit, excellent characterization and powerful dialogue in the world can't save a comic whose art can best be described as 'absolutely abysmal'. so, to that end, here is a list dedicated to those who make sure that comics aren't just fun to read, but an absolute joy to look at!
what can I say? I love my cheesecake, and NOBODY does it better than dear old Mr. Campbell. however, I may also be viewing things with a bit of a sepia filter: it was my big brother's copies of the original Gen13 miniseries that first got me into comics, and the Danger Girl Deluxe hardcover was the first comic-related purchase I ever made that I can say required actual investment.
personally, I thought his work on 'Hush' was absolutely astonishing, but he also gets points for being one of the driving forces behind my favorite comic book company. and before you ask: yes, I am a horribly-mutated byproduct of the Wizard Era, thank you very much.
although his work consists mainly of superheroes who could best be described as 'Victoria's Secret models with superhuman strength', his artwork was colorful and his environments were ANYTHING but bland - something which he is given too little credit for. personally, if you're a fan of the occasional popcorn comic, then I'd say you should ABSOLUTELY give Fathom a look.
