@Mr.Q:  hmm...thats a tough one. I like Vic because he is the original one. BUT I like Montoya because shes an animated series transfer character. now thats a tough question...

@The Poet: I choose Vic. perhaps this may help. Renee's origin seemed really forced and unnecessary. plus Vic was the basis for Rorschach. Vic Sage often imitated never duplicated.

@Mr.Q: yeah, vic is cool. he seems more mysterious than Rene (haven't really paid attention to her sense 52 to tell that much about her character. (vic always had the best covers)

she also doesn't look quite right in Vic's clothes. not nearly as mysterious as Mr. Sage.

@The Poet: that and it was just unnecessary. it doesn't add anything to her character at all. she was a brave strong character that fought crime. no secret ID no gimmicks. she was real. unique. now she's just another 'mask'. apparently someone at DC, I think it was Rucka or someone said that it was 'inevitable' that she was going to become a super hero or something along those lines. but the real question is. why? why her and not someone with closer ties to that world like Jim Gordon, or Jimmy Olsen, or Lois Lane or anyone who has experience with super heroics or at least a closer tie to someone who does. unless I missed some untold retcon but did Renee and Vic even know each other before he showed up in her home to tell her of her apparent 'destiny' as the 'only' person who could carry on the 'legacy' of a suddenly terminally ill Vic Sage? it made no sense.

You must understand I am reading a different age of Flash. For The Poet's Flash Review Project I have started from the very begining with Barry allen. Its interesting for me to read these comics first so that when I am reading the new 52 Flash series or something like that I can say, "wow! there is an interesting parallel between Captain Cold's interaction with Iris Allen in The Flash #4 or Flashpoint: Citizen Cold and The Flash #114 where he asks Iris to marry him.

With all respect to the wally west fans I can't say he is my favorite because I have not met him yet. Least he is not the character he is going to be. For me he is a copy of barry Allen with different hair and younger. The writers tried to make him "hip" and different from Barry, but it wasn't that drastic. Heck, he was wearing Barry's suit for 3 years before the reverse flash-esque suit. It would take a few years and some intereactions between other characters that he would become the character a lot of fans like.

So that is my explanation of why I like Barry more. Haven't met Wally yet. Hope that long thing answers your question which really didn't need this long answer, but I felt like writing it anyway...
