1001 Poet Tales (aka: The Poet's Secret Origins)

Ok, so a week ago or so I realized I had reached 1000 posts on this site (Go Me!) and I thought about doing something to comemorate this achievement.

I thought, "why don't I do a comic on the Poet! how about the origins of the Poet!" so I started on that. Now, being a very insightful person (uh...yeah right) I created an alternate account teoP_ehT several months in advance for just such a pupose (If you can't tell I am crossing my fingers at this statement...I don't see that far ahead). Any way, that's why you've been seeing random posts by this reflection of me (I got so many people ask why I stoped posting and if I had been banned...why ban me? please don't answer that!).

So, without further ado, I give you the secret origins of The Poet! Enjoy! oh, and thanks to the handsome and talented Arthur Wynne, Ponsonby Britt, teoP_ehT for their assistance in this venture and yes I just thanks my self). agian, enjoy all the refrencenes and hope you have as much fun reading as I did creating! I'm not an artist, btw, i'm a Poet.

so a blog post does NOT count as a forum post. I apologise. This is my 1001st post. HAZAH!

HAHAHA, this is really entertaining buddy. I love all the different tie-ins and parody and the mock covers came out great.

Very funny stuff :)

@tonis: thanks I tryed to do what I would enjoy reading (an entertaining story) and always liked that episode of Batman the animated series...

You have no idea how long it took me to do that Detective cover! That text on the cover for the word "Detective" was so unique I had to create it myself by hand. took me forever!
Glad my time payed off :)

Nelson. we all know a Nelson. so your story didn't give you your 1001 post as planed. had to hurt. but as they say " the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry." entertaining non the less.
Posted by The Poet
@Mr.Q: yeah he seemed to fit the situation. There are so many refrences in this comic...don't know how much most people will catch other than stuff which is of pop culture...

thank you. I aim to please.

This is gloriously epic and quite enjoyable to read as I imagined so! My favorite parts were how baby Poet was already wrapped up in a coat when he was found, how the bat was completely ignored for a poetry book and what Hazah stands for. Great artistic choices.

thanks. I'll try. In fact I'm imagining imaginating the first issue as I type...oh this is going to be fun!

Thanks agian. I really didn't feel like doing one of those "I reached 1000 Forum post!" They're just so boring that I wanted to do something more...interesting...I think I did that :)

thanks. I'm assuming you mean the Son of Man apple guy. Yeah had to do that one.
son of man!

If you look hard you can see another Magrritte painting also in it called the "Key to the fields" in the batman bat scene.
Key to the fields

@The Poet: Ah well done, I dont know that one.
Moderator

@RazzaTazz: yeah when you grow up with Magrrite posters on the walls of your house you tend to have it stuck inside your brain.

speaking of childhood refrenses, the pulling of the lion out of the hat (insteade of a rabbit) is actully a refrence to a Rocky and Bullwinkle Gag.
Nothing up my sleeve...presto! a reference my generation really wouldn't recignise!

@The Poet: I only watched the movie, though that vista seems familiar
Moderator
Posted by The Poet
@RazzaTazz: Yeah, I just love refrenses I guess (Ponsonby Britt in the credits, inadditon to be a name I use for a blog I tried doing, was the executive producer for the orginal show even though he was actully a fictional name). Plus I mentioned Boris Badenov in the dedication.

I just don't have fun without a suttle joke or two in my work, but I guess that shows ;)

Thanks. thought it would be a nice story to write. When I feel like it, I'll write a regular comic. I have the idea in mind, but need to finish a story i am writing and then I can focus my full attention on this or the Alfred comic i thought of or the Riddler comic...decisions, decisions!
