Might as well give Marvel's biggest rip-off another ripped-off costume. It suits her.
How is SHE the biggest rip-off at Marvel?
What do you expect from someone who is having a Fantomex avatar lol?
Talk to me when Fanto is using a staff, charging playing cards, and starts calling himself "Gambit".
Well even Marvel can't turn trash into gold. I mean isn't that the guy whose 4 issue mini started with 19K and ended with 9K in sales?
To be fair, that mini was a pile of horse turds. Like, honestly, Fantomex is my favorite X-Men character and I couldn't even finish reading that garbage.
Is this still Fury Jr? Ever since the Ult universe merged after Secret Wars, I've been wondering every time we see this guy if it's Fury Jr. or Ult Fury.
I'm normally against in universe lines that try to be "Mature" but the Doom Patrol is a rare case of a series that can use (and sometimes may even need) those themes to convey the message of what the team stands for and represents. Thankfully Gerard Way has a masterful understanding of who these heroes are and the types of stories that need to be told with them. In the first two issues alone he already nails the aspects of the Doom Patrol I love in the most subtle of possible ways while delivering an entertaining story to go hand in hand, helped along by some fantastic artwork.
Plus it feels like anyone who's not searching for any deeper meaning or who isn't super into the Doom Patrol can enjoy it on a superficial level as just being a fun adventure that's weird for the sake of weird.
Long story short, if you're not buying this, start as soon as possible
Well said. I haven't gotten the chance to read any previous Doom Patrol series or incarnations aside from their brief appearance in Geoff John's Justice League but I am enjoying Way's story and learning about these characters as the story progresses. I hope to one day soon read through the omnibus of Morrison's run that I have so that I can appreciate the insanity and concepts that this run takes seems to take its inspirations from.
I would also recommend tracking down Kieth Giffen's run, as that seems to be the other run that's inspiring this new one in part; and genuinely I think Giffen;s DP is second only to Morrison.
I really don't have moments like this much. But I really don't know how to feel about the Miles/Cap moment. I realize it was a cliffhanger. And I definitely wasn't one of those people who cried over Cap saying "Hail Hydra." But this, at least at this point seems like a poorly thought out story.
At this point? It's been a poorly thought out story from the word go; and each issue only got exponentially worse. I have a high tolerance for mediocrity but Civil War II is the first event I've just quit on. It seriously feels like an earnest attempt to write the worst possible story.
I hope this first issue is better than the Rebirth issue. It was so mediocre. Everything was severely over explained to the point of redundancy and made the issue read at a slow pace. The fight was just kind of boring, everyone was constantly explain their actions and reactions which mostly consisted of either the obvious from what we could immediately see, or just sounded like terrible made up technobabble. There were definitely some good ideas, but it's not all there in overall presentation.
Such a surreal series, I really look forward to it every month!
Why is Matt Murdock on a variant cover?? Is that a hint that Moon Knight will appear in the Defenders Netflix series?? Or am I reading too much in to it?
You're reading too much into it unfortunately. Marvel just picks a theme for variant covers and runs with it even if it makes no sense for the individual series. Most of the Death of X variants had no connection whatsoever to the series they were on, and that goes double for last month's Black Panther themed variants.
Ok, so the next few issues of ANAD Avengers form a connecting image with this cover, except one of the pieces is a variant of this issue in addition to the normal cover being a different piece? That's such a dick move. I mean, I'm not buying an extra copy of this issue, especially not an Annual, but it'll still be annoying to just have a random hole in the connected image.
