Gods, Avatars and Lovers of Death, Darkness, Destruction and Oblivion.

Note: This list has no real order, it is just a compilation of individuals and teams who represent/embody the concepts listed in the title.

List items

  • Mistress Death is one of the "cornerstone" abstracts of The Marvel Universe and the Mother/Sister/Daughter/Wife of Eternity, Infinity, Oblivion and Galactus.

  • Nekron is the physical embodiment of Darkness and Oblivion in The DC Universe, he was also the orchestrator of The Blackest Night and the Master of The Black Lantern Corps. Recently, Nekron was forced to return to his dimension after The Entity brought William Hand, Nekron's Herald and only physical connection to our plane of existence, back to life.

  • Oblivion is one of the "cornerstone" abstracts in The Marvel Universe and the Father/Brother/Son/Husband of Mistress Death, Eternity, Infinity and Galactus.

  • Death of The Endless is believed to be the one true embodiment of Death in the DC Universe. Though, because she truly only exists in The Vertigo Universe, many people have denounced her status despite Neil Gaiman's claims that she is.

  • Though he is beyond good and evil, life and death and other such trivial concepts, The Living Tribunal has brought death to more realities and certainly more beings than any other entity in all The Multiverse but does not do so without purpose. Sometimes...bringing death to entire realities is the only way to save Creation.

  • Amatsu-Mikaboshi is an aspect of Oblivion.

  • The Anti-Monitor is one of the most powerful beings in existence and was responsible for the total annihilation of the original Multiverse.

  • The Black Flash is an embodiment of Death from The DC Universe who comes for speedsters when they die. It was recently revealed that The Black Flash and The Black Racer are the same entity.

  • The Celestials are infamous for the countless acts of genocide they have committed since before the dawn of time. Though, on occasion, they have been known to help protect the Universe from threats such as The Cancerverse almost the entire race has no regard for the lives of those they experiment on and often deem them unworthy of a continued existence for not living up to their expectations.

The Mad Ones of Earth-4280, however, are much, much worse. Their insane belief that they are the true gods of the Multiverse has made them so unstable that they will burn worlds and on rare occasions, entire universes just because one or more races refused to worship them as Gods.

  • Clyde Wyncham, an Omega-Level Mutant from our Universe, spent billions of years obliterating Universes while learning how to become a master of time and space and to temporarily sate his hunger for death and destruction. Wyncham is also the former master/tutor of Earth-616's Victor Von Doom.

  • Galactus is the Devourer of Worlds and exists to bring an end to the lives of worlds whose time in this Universe has ended. Though he is not a "cornerstone" abstract, he is still considered to be the Father/Brother/Son/Husband of Eternity, Infinity, Oblivion and Mistress Death.

  • Prime is a dark, twisted and near-Omnipotent alternate version of Superman. Though he was once good, a series of unfortunate events drove him completely insane, resulting in the death of trillions of lives. It was not until Blackest Night that he managed to regain his sanity and take a couple of small steps down the road to redemption.

  • Thanos is the Avatar and Lover of Mistress Death.

  • Ichigo Kurosaki was born a Shinigami/Human hybrid but has since evolved into something else, something that is not Human, Shinigami, Hollow, Arrancar or Vizard. One theory postulates that Ichigo has become the Death abstract of The Bleach Universe, although the same could be said about his arch-nemesis Sousuke Aizen, whether the theory is accurate or not remains to be seen.

  • Rukia Kuchiki is a Shinigami Death Goddess from The Bleach Universe. She is the Lieutenant of the Thirteenth Division.

  • Lady Death is a Death Goddess from The Avatar Press Universe.

  • Phyla was once the Avatar of Death and one of Oblivion's agents. But when she failed to carry out her assigned duties and kill Adam Warlock before he could become The Magus, Oblivion and Maelstrom tricked her into freeing Thanos, who killed her on sight.

  • Grimmjow Jeagerjaques is the physical embodiment of Destruction in The Bleach Universe.

  • Ulquiorra Cifer is the physical embodiment of Nihilism in The Bleach Universe.

  • Annihilus, the immortal, god-like insectoid ex-ruler of The Negative Zone is noted as being "very intimate with Death". Even before the Annihilation War, Annihilus was known to for committing genocide on a galactic scale.

  • Sousuke Aizen is an extremely dangerous and powerful rouge Shinigami Death God who is seeking to take the throne of Heaven and become the one true God of the Bleach Universe. His recent merger with the Hogyoku artifact has given him the power to transcend the boundaries of reason, thus enhancing and increasing his already nigh-omnipotent power to an infinite degree and bringing him ever closer to achieving his ultimate goal.

  • The Phoenix Force is a God-like entity that revels in death and destruction. It was also once Death's Avatar.

  • Deathurge is one of Oblivion's Avatars.

  • The Black Hand was one of Nekron's faithful and his chosen Herald. He was also the "anchor" Nekron used to maintain his form on our plane of existence.

  • The Black Racer is another embodiment of Death from The DC Universe who originated on The Fourth World. It was recently revealed that he and The Black Flash are the same entity.

  • Hela is The Asgardian Goddess of Death in The Marvel Universe.

  • Maelstrom is one of Oblivion's Avatars.

  • Thirteenth Division Captain Jyuushiro Ukitake is one of the oldest Shinigami Death Gods in existence and was one of the first two Shinigami to be promoted to the rank of Captain.

  • Eight Division Captain Shunsui Kyoraku is one of the oldest Shinigami Death Gods in existence and was one of the first two Shinigami to be promoted to the rank of Captain.

  • Abraxas is essentially the Marvel Universe's answer to The Anti-Monitor.

  • Exitar the Exterminator/Executioner is a monstrously powerful Celestial and currently the largest on record, standing at a whopping 20,000 feet, this monolithic cosmic terror has brought death to nearly every world that his constant traveling companion, Arishem the Judge, has passed negative judgment on. In 1994, Exitar's only connection to our plane of existence was cut off by The Invisible Woman, whose powers run on the same hyperspace wavelength as the Celestial "broadband" connection does, forcing Exitar to return to the realm of hyperspace. Due to the sheer amount of effort and power it takes to not only maintain his existence and that of his armor in the physical realm, it will take thousands upon thousands of years for his fellow Celestials to build him a new set of armor, as well as reestablish his connection to our plane of existence and completely refuel his limitless power supply.

  • Hunger is an multidimensional entity who lives only to consume realities whole.

  • The Elder God known as Chthon is the brother of Gaea and Set. He is best known for being the first to master the art of Necromancy, which he used to transform a loyal follower of his called Vlad the Impaler into the first Vampire who went onto create an entire race of Vampires that will forever owe their existence to Chthon, even if they do not serve him.

  • Yammy Riyalgo is the physical embodiment of Rage in The Bleach Universe and is one of the most powerful beings in existence. Like The Hulk, his power increases as he gets angrier, but unlike the Hulk the increases in power are titanic and impossible to measure. He also grows in height and mutates into different forms as he evolves. When he was last seen, Yammy had become nearly as tall as the average Celestial and had changed into a Satanic-looking abomination with a body structure that somewhat looks and functions like that of a gorilla.

  • Isshin Kurosaki, the father of Ichigo, Karin and Yuzu Kurosaki, is an extremely powerful Shinigami Death God from the Bleach Universe. The white Haori he is constantly seen wearing like a cape over his right shoulder indicates that he was once a Captain, but due to the lack of a number within the rhombus symbol on the back of the Haori, it is impossible to tell which Division he was the Captain of.

  • Fourth Division Retsu Unohana is the most powerful Shinigami Death Goddess in The Bleach Universe and one of the four oldest Shinigami in existence. However, because she decided to use her powers to heal rather than fight, there is no way of telling whether she has any true combat experience. Despite that, Unohana is still able to instill great fear into those who do not agree with some of her own personal decisions (such as buying a somewhat revealing swimsuit to wear at a Soul Society hosted beach party in the world of the living) or those who do not listen to what she what she wants them to do by glaring and speaking to them in a very particular way.

She is the Lieutenant of the Fifth Division and the former right hand of the traitorous Sousuke Aizen, who had been pretending to be a "good guy" for the past Century or so. Recently, Aizen cast an illusionary veil over her to make Shunsui Kyoraku, Soifon, Shinji Hirako and her childhood friend, Toushiro Hitsugaya, think she was Aizen and did so in a way that anything she said would be filtered out by the words of the true Aizen. This resulted in her being mortally wounded by Toushiro who was cut down by Aizen shortly afterward. Her current fate is unknown.

Since then he has tried numerous times to reclaim what he believes to be rightfully his but has failed each time.

As his title suggests, Arishem judges whether planets and the races who live upon their surface are worthy of continued life depending on whether or not they live up to his extraordinarily high standards. In most cases, these races fail to meet his expectations and are promptly wiped out either by Arishem himself or by Arishem's constant traveling companion: Exitar the Executioner.

  • Kal-L is one of Nekron's undead Black Lanterns.

  • Deathstorm is one of Nekron's undead Black Lanterns.

  • The corrupt, twisted King Hyperion of Earth-4023 revels in death and destruction and is notorious for bringing it to many realities including his own.

He is the Captain of Squad Eleven and is feared by many across The Soul Society, his lust for death and destruction knows no bounds nor does his ability to live. The false Swamp Thing nearly destroyed the White Lantern and brought an end to all life on Earth.

He captured Galactus shortly after he was brought down by Doctor Strange and used him as a doomsday device that would ensure his universes destruction in a bid to become the nucleus and creator of a newer, darker universe where he and his "Seraphim" (The Deviants) would rule for all eternity. The Black Celestial's plans, however, were foiled by The Fantastic Four, Thor and Iron Man of Earth-616, who ultimately tricked him into falling right into the universe-consuming black hole the mind-controlled Galactus was using to destroy everything, resulting in the irreversible destruction/consumption of his corrupt soul.

Great list Gray Fox. i don't know if the Inbetweener(created by Lord Chaos and Master Order to be the balance between Chaos and Order) falls into this category or not. also, during the Thanos Imperative, Drax the destroyer was stated as being an avatar of life. lastly, Avatar(that's her name) is the "avatar" of Mistress Love, and Master Hate. i don't know if you feel any of these characters should be on your list, i just wanted to offer a few more suggestions. Once again though, this was a great list.

Thank you for the compliment. Putting together this list was quite hard and I am pretty certain that I am still very far from completing it.
