Wonder Woman is a character who I never read and could really form no opinion of until I read some of her books and watched the WW animated movie. I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the animated flick. I would eventually pick up some of her books and they were pretty decent.
I never liked Superman. It was kinda the same thing with Wonder Woman with reading some of the comics and the animated flicks. I still don't think he's that great, but I respect him more.
The title for this thread is misleading lol. I liked some of the books out the 90's. But the number of titles I read was limited, so I wasn't exposed to all the bad that everyone else was. I have to say though that despite the hatred for 90's comics, a lot of those stories have helped shaped the way many characters are that people love today.
I have the two Witchblade compendiums and I really didn't care for most of the early stuff. The second one was very good even before Ron Marz took over, but he definitely made it better.
One of many in my collection is Uncanny X-Men #304. It's one of the earliest issues I remember having. I loved the art and the Fatal Attractions story.
More than likely, yeah. This is actually something I had thought about recently after Ethan Van Sciver posted something on facebook. I thought he did decent work and I had a great conversation with him at a wizard convention last year or the year before. He bought dinner for me and a buddy. So it was real cool to chill and talk with him about different stuff in comics and probably more, I don't remember it all. Probably not even a month ago, he posted this picture of someone in blackface with a caption that include the word "mammie." Anybody with some sense of history and race, knows that nothing about that is positive. And no, it wasn't posted in a manner to be educational. I commented and un-friended him. Someone I know who was also friends with him on there said it got removed or something, because he couldn't find it.
It's already hard being an African-American fanboy because most of the characters that look like me (as well as other characters of color) are based on stereotypes. Seriously, how many Black characters need to be former gangbangers. But anyway, that's something I couldn't tolerate. I don't know what he's been working on, but if I was reading a book he was working on, I would've dropped it that moment. I am very active when it comes to social justice, and I knew at a point, I would have to make a choice between that and my fanboyism.
As much as I luv comics, there are many things bigger than them.
