tgd124: My Top 50 Comic Characters

List items

  • He is just the coolest. I grew up watching this guy make guest appearences and protecting the world with one magic word, and i love the idea of being magically transformed into a champion of the lightning. I always thought he was underrated or underused for a character with over 2 million comics sold and powers enough to challenge the man of steel, but it looks like he's making a comeback. Say what you will about the New 52 "Curse of Shazam", but i think any Captain Marvel is better than no Captain Marvel.

  • This Character always blew my mind. A man with literally incomprehensible powers controlled by the military trying to find a place in the universe. His New 52 run has actually been my favorite of all and I'm really sad to see it go.

  • This guy has gone to hell and back. Seriously, just the way he looks is bad@$$. Selling your soul to the devil to save the one you love, Johnny Blaze is one of the most awesome super-heroes because the dangerous, unique feel and idea of this character. Personally, I loved the movies, any movie about your hero is worth seeing.

  • What makes this character so cool? I think his simplicity and crackpot theories is what makes him interesting. He's an everyman, maybe a little crazed everyman, but still an everyman. I first saw him on the JLU show and he was instantly one of the coolest, just because of he was the only hero I could see myself being someday. I only fear what the New 52 will make of him...

  • Him suck. I no like him just because him uninnocent and copy of superman. him lame and me hate every comic I don't read without him.

  • He's the Tick.

  • Haters gonna hate. This guy was first. THE first. sure he can do anything, buts that what makes him great. Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Thats what makes him a hero and an icon. I still think he has the best superhero movies too.

  • Mary Marvel. I always thought her character was just cool, a lost sister with the powers of the goddesses. What i really enjoyed, was her fall from grace. She was one of the most innocent and pure DC characters (right up there with the rest of the Marvel Family) then she lost her powers and over the course of 52 (or countdown, i forget...) she sought to regain them, going to Black Adam for help. The dark magic corrupted her however, and she fell to their influence along with Darkseid to become one of the most evil and crazed villains during the Final Crisis

  • Blue Beetle III, i like this character because he continues a long line of heros, but he is also polar opposite his predecessor. DC took a jump for it and it rocked. I like the robotic luchadore look, and i feel like he's a combo of Iron Man and Spiderman, super advanced robotic technology on a teenager in high school dressed like a bug. Against all odds, it worked, and I like it.

  • The only thing I don't like about Black Adam is that Geoff Johns made this character more popular than Captain Marvel. He's a corrupted anti-hero that seeks justice in his own right, in a way he's more efficient than Superman, He rules and protects Khandaq without any issues, and has become their national hero. He's just that cool.

  • if you do not know this guy, read hush, he is completely amazing and horrifying, he's more opposite the Batman then the Joker in my opinion.

  • My Favorite of the Autobots, so cool and stylish. Loved him in the new movie too, especially the car, but death was very uncool .

  • I'm team cyclops. He's the original X-man. He knows how to lead, what to do and enforces it, he's also a pretty nice guy (or at least he used to be, I only recently began to read marvel comics again and everything's changed). The movies played him as a loser, but he's still my favorite X-man.

  • He's earned being everyones top hero, Robin to Nightwing to Batman to... Nightwing again... Honestly, he's so high up on my list just because of his run in Batman & Robin. That was probably one of my favorite comics ever. I liked the reverse good cop/bad cop of Batman and Robin, and I really wish it continued, or at least more Dick & Damian partnerships in the New 52

  • Damian is the 4th Robin and my second favorite after Dick. Morrison's Batman & Robin is what made me like the two so much. It's great, and I'm going to stop talking about my love for it.

  • "The Man Without Fear", daredevil is an awesome hero, this guy has had the worst and been through hell, but he comes out better for it. He doesn't really have powers, he's blind with extrasensory powers enabling to see, and his new comics are just cool

  • I watched this every chance I got. This was the coolest show growing up, maybe even putting JLU in 2nd place. I loved the run prior to the new 52, the new one is great but has too many stories, none of which are central to terry right now.

  • I think i just love Batman when it's not bruce under the cowl, i loved the knightfall story-line, and Azbats was totally the coolest interpretation of Batman ever, darker and deadliear without rules. Azrael latter became a religious and crazed Batman-like hero, which was also pretty bomb

  • If you don't know this guy, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUc0GuH-VGE&feature=plcp, This guy was awesome. still is.

  • I like Colossus Because he's the nice guy in the X-men, even though being made of metal, and he paints. Like previously stated, i just returned to Marvel, and now this guy is part Juggernaut? I guess i gotta adapt, but i think it's bull that Red Hulk beat him. (seriously why do we need Red Hulk?)

  • I love this sociopath.

  • Basically, he was based on Captain Atom, and now Captain Atom is based on him. He's great because of his disconnection with humanity, thats what i loved about Dr. Manhatten, it explores the hero complex, you just have to get passed that blue penis...

  • My first comic was this Ghost Rider vs guy called Zodiak. Zodiak had a really messed up face, so GR couldn't do the penance stare, so instead a guy called suicide suicided him. Cool comic. liked Danny's look

  • I liked her in the teen titans and always thought the princess was pretty in the comics, she was a perfect match for Nightwing before, but now in the New 52 though i don't know, she seems to love everyone but Grayson

  • I loved this guy because of his sacrifice to the antimonitor. I was really upset upon his return, but good heroes just don't stay down

  • She's just cool. I really dig the Indigo Lanterns because i thought i'd be an indigo if any. I just read the conclusion to the Indigo Tribe's true motives though, creepy stuff...

  • I love this greedy monster, corrupted by the power of avarice, he seems to be a really genuine character behind the ring. I want to know his oath, or has it already been revealed?

  • Like Daredevil, this guy's lost everything, but he hopes for the future and finds comfort in salvation. He's awesome because he's like a priest holding the universe's ultimate weapon, unfortunately he requires a space cop to unleash the full power.

  • I liked Venom much more than Spiderman, he was a crazed guy focused on vengeance, but at the same time he protects the innocent. Apparently eddie is "anti-venom" now, but i'm still stuck in 90's comics where venom was cool

  • Awesome guy, i like his sociopathic egomaniac personality, not to mention his sweet car

  • I didn't like him in the comics that much, but the movie improved my appreciation for the character (maybe it was the cooler suit and the fact that i read watchmen at 13 just prior to the movie) and I really began to understand and enjoy the character. He's great in the Before Watchmen as well.

  • "I did it 35 minutes ago" the most chilling words in comic book history. He's the only villain who succeeded.

  • Flash + Ghost Rider = wicked awesome

  • i think teleportation would be one of the coolest mutant powers, i really loved this X-man and hate how he died. too many dead heroes on this list...

  • V for Vendetta, along with Watchmen, is a must read. They are the most culturally impacting comics ever. well maybe Batman and Superman, but their characters, not ideas... Anyway, the revolutionary anarchist V leads a theatrical campaign to murder his former captors, bring down the government, and convince the people to rule themselves.

  • Similar to Barry Allan, i wish they left this guy with Crisis on Infinite Earths. He literally destroyed thousands of worlds and billions of heros. He is the Mightiest villain of all, but I feel his later appearances watered down that effect.

  • One of the cooler and underused Bat-Villains, i do like his earlier kingpin status when we met the 2nd robin, but he is cool and i liked his cameos in the arkham games

  • I love Batman & Robin, and he was the perfect villain, maybe crazier than Joker. Don't laugh, he may eat your lungs.

  • Bane broke the bat

  • Blue Beetle II, a good continuation of the title, he was more fin than batman and influenced Nite Owl II. I really liked him in the JLI, but was in shock when he was shot dead by Max Lord.

  • I loved the original Firestorm, not that i have anything against Jason, but Ronnie is the only reason i've been reading the New 52 firestorm, and i miss the 2 minds in one body. What really got my attention was Ronnie and Jason in the Blackest Night, damn that was dark.

  • I know her only from the movies (you can only read so many comics) and she's pretty cool, all those fighting moves and she can shape-shift? nice. Not to mention she's Nightcrawler's mommy.

  • Mr. Majestic is awesome because he's Superman unhinged, he doesn't hold back his power and he's a no-nonsense protector of earth.

  • she became a heroine by stealing her step-father's gear, I like her in JSA because she's nice and fun and she dated Captain Marvel. She's got moxie

  • His new 52 Comics are alot better then i'd originally thought (we got too many Batman books), and his origin is unique and the more i read into it the more i liked him

  • His comic was great (better than the movie, and veeeery different), I think he is exactly what would happen if I became a superhero.

  • CM3 is great, but the trials of shazam and him replacing billy as the champion really brought down my enjoyment of this character. It was DC's first attempt at a darker Marvel Family, but no, i didn't like it. He was cool in Cry for Justice though, great plot twist.

  • He was cool in the Iron Man movies, i did prefer Terrence Howard to Don Cheadle, but either way still good. i did pick up a recent issue with Rhodey in it, and i have to say, "not bad".

  • Not my favorite, but Oliver is still pretty great, and i've been debating with friends, Green arrow Vs. Hawkeye, who would win? I say GA becaue he's funnier and has cooler trick arrows. and that beard, whats not better about him? His girlfriend (Black Canary) actually has superpowers, take that Black Widow

  • I never really liked Silk Spectre. she was one of my least favorite Watchmen, comedian being at the bottom, but the Before Watchmen has changed my mind, she's actually pretty cool, for all you naysayers, read it, the worst that can happen is you won't like it, Before Watchmen just adds to the Watchmen universe, and it's great.
