The Knight of Time (nU changes pending)
Like his sister Rose, Dave was born not long before a devastating combined Hierarchy-Black Hand assault on the Novian people when he was three. Born to Dirkal and Roxalia, Dave and Rose were to be the Novus'; the machines of the Novians; last hope. The Novus knew they were powerful beyond belief, scions of the Primordials, Dave being the scion of Talorak; Dragon Emperor of time, God of gods of gods of gods, King of everything, lord of the Primordials; and that the potential they possessed could either make the name of the Novians remembered throughout the rest of history, or damn it once and for all.
Whereas Rose was paired with the warrior Viktor, Dave was paired with the Novus known as Ormag. Ormag was every bit as indestructible as Viktor was, but his charge was not quite as tough. There were many times where Dave would know death, but the Novus kept on cloning him back to life, hoping that he would unlock the full potential inside of him. Ormag took her duties of guarding the boy very seriously, and has only recently started to mellow out.
To him, Ormag is the cool older sister everyone wishes they had. Always supportive, always full of quirky but frequently good advice. She helps Dave out in fights that he's gotten way over his head in, will give her life to protect the boy, and is quite simply the biggest badass Dave knows, having taken out entire armies in the blink of an eye while taking the most devastating of blows and barrages without even the slightest bit of hindrance.
He doesn't smile of course, he considers himself too cool for overt displays of emotion and does his best to play the part of the stoic. Whereas Rose became the bookish, reserved type, Dave went and became something of a pop culture junkie, growing into the "coolkid" persona that is quite common on earth. Some may consider this to be rather toolish, but he honestly doesn't give a damn. It would be totally against his style for him to give a damn in any case. Further compounding the difficulty in telling his emotional state is the fact that he always wears shades, even if it's dark.
Given that his eye colour is an intense red, a typical sign of lacking melanin, there is some excuse, as his eyes may not be able to handle overly bright light without the shades, but given that he keeps them on even in total darkness, this may not be the best of excuses. He has however, extensively added a great deal of technology to them, allowing them to work like a wearable computer and one of the most advanced sensory systems the universe has ever seen. While his sister prefers to rely on ranged combat while still being incredibly proficient at melee, Dave's focuses are reversed, while still extremely dangerous at range combat, in melee he's a fighting machine with few equals. This dualism has lead to their few and far between team ups being incredibly effective, cutting their way through most enemies with ease.
He has recently come across Jade in his travels, and finding the girl to be friendly and attractive to his eyes, he decided to join her little space adventuring group. By now, the two of them have become a firm item, though Jade has never been exposed to the concept of monogamy and the Novians were a polyamorous species. This still hasn't altered the strength of their relationship and the two have formed an effective team in battle, though they always make sure to consult with the rest of the group when they launch their daring adventures against the forces of Darkness in the universe.
Now with the coming of the Hierarchy to the Earth, the stakes are even higher. For the enmity between the Novii and the Hierarchy is a very, very old one.
Among many other species, humanity and the Novii have been touched by the Masari, an enigmatic forerunner race that seemed to rule over much of the universe after being given governance over it and the responsibility to watch over the development of sapient life in the universe by the True Dragons and the Primordials, as well as stewardship over the power of truenaming to go along with their advanced understanding of magic, powerful psionics, and incredible technology.
The Hierarchy was formed from a coalition formed by the Overseers, locked away by the Ecumene for it's rapacious and evil nature. Black hand records seem to indicate that even they never could defeat the Masari in a stand up conflict, and that they were one of the greatest players in the war in heaven that tore apart much of the cosmos throughout the billions of years of that ancient, primordial conflict before all conflicts.
The Masari Ecumene seemed to have largely vanished about a hundred thousand years ago following a massive die-off of sapient life and cultures, leaving only their massive artifacts and what artificial intelligences remained of them during what seemed to be a massive war. Records seem to indicate they fought a war with "the thoughts of the Icon of our sins given reality". And depictions show an all consuming parasite.
Despite every trick they pulled, they couldn't stop this threat from nearly devouring the universe, and thus shielded what sapient life remained before they fired off massive pulse waves that destroyed the very concept of thought for all those who were not shielded from it's effects and the nonmechanical. Anything that could support "the thoughtsin" that was not protected perished immediately, disintegrated.
With the disappearance of the Masari, the Hierarchy's shell collapsed and the shields withdrew, leaving a great many treasures of their civilization left for the looting. But some remained, one of their greatest military leaders, the Prime-Cryptus was locked away in an artificial shielded galactic supercluster along with his supporters and pet projects after they had deemed his attempt to convert sapient life into tortured machines to better fight the Thoughtsin abhorrent and his grudge against the uplifted races following the loss of his sons to them a danger, they sealed the enormously powerful warrior away to let him stew on what he had done and hope he would come to terms with the decisions of the rest of the Ecumene, not counting on the fact that his exile would if anything, only further intensify his hatred and desire to restore the Masari to dominance..
Dave grew up in the distorted legends of the Masari whom the Novians held as gods above gods, surpassing even their own native pantheon of deities. After all, the Masari changed them from an avian, terror bird like race into these pleasing mammalian forms and gave them what they needed to see the stars and brokered a friendship between them and the also uplifted Mankind.
Orphaned ten years ago during the Hierarchy's lightning assault on the Novian republic, the primalborn Dave has recently heard rumors as to the whereabouts of the Dirge observable universe bubble, where the Prime-Cryptus was locked away, hoping the mighty Masari warrior and his army could defeat the Hierarchy and end the menace of the Black hand, not knowing why he was sealed away. In the mean time, he and his girlfriend Jade help lead the forces of the Coalition of Free Powers to fight against the indomitable might of the Hierarchy.
The Hierarchy Invasion (The Birthstar war)
Some time ago, the Hierarchy engaged in war with factions such as the Arcean Empire, the Tau Empire, the Eldar Collective, the Imperium of Man, the Novian Republic, The Vhozon Grand judiciary and more. A coalition of belligerent alien species brought under the banner of the Overseers, the Hierarchy has brutalized known space to a vast extent. Octillions died in the opening moves of the war as millions of planets were razed and shattered to be strip mined. The Novian Republic was also a target of the Overseers, and in a series of lightning strikes, the largely pacifistic Novians were systematically exterminated before the final assault on Nov wiped out all but two of the Novii out.
Despite the near complete eradication of the Novii, their machines; the Novus, continue to fight on their makers behalf, and as the Hierarchy's assault into the galaxy continues, they do not cease to make new enemies, having started to expand their attacks to include the forces of chaos, the Orks, the Tau, the Chironaxi (Star borne human) Imperium other external invaders such as the Protectorate, the Black Hand, the Blazing Legion and the Met'raynid.
Over the course of the war, Vigintillions have died and octillions of dead and revived worlds lie in silent testimony to the rapacity of Kamal and his inner circle. The Novus stand with many allies in this war to end all wars. As one of the two native born didacts (field marshall equivalents) of the Novus military, Dave has been leading the robotic armies from battle to battle constantly fighting what seems to be a hopeless war against an endlessly superior foe.
No matter how many victories he manages to win, the Hierarchy's forces seem to be inexhaustible. While both can manufacture reinforcements and equipment in seconds, the Hierarchy's starting base was so immense that overcoming his initial numerical advantage has so far proved impossible. One could shatter trillions of Zolkri ships, but all it would take would be one planet to fall for them to recoup all their losses and more. One could slay trillions of the Hierarchy's soldiers, but the potential biomass of a single world would be all that would be needed to erase those losses overnight.
Now the main hope is to slow down the Hierarchy until some form of decapitation strike, perhaps a strike against the overseers themselves to get them to the negotiating table. Hope for victory by conventional means has all but completely vanished and corpses that outnumber the stars themselves lain strewn across the universe as a bloody stalemate forms. Worlds are destroyed and restored in their quadrillions every second, stars are snuffed out and rekindled constantly, more die every passing moment than any human could begin to understand, machines of war are churned out in numbers beyond all count and a quintillion battles are being waged across trillions of galaxies.
The entirety of the observable universe is in a state of total war as the natives fight off the Hierarchy and countless other invaders along with themselves. Victory seems to be out of reach. The enemies seem utterly without end, and the battlefield is larger than the human mind can even begin to grasp. The death toll is so great that if a headstone were made for every sapient being who has died in the Virgo War then they would outmass the milky way a thousand times over. In the space of a few centuries, a few swipes of the pendulum, the stars have seen a sextillion lifetimes worth of war.
Given that the foe rules over two hundred and fifty billion observable universe bubbles (and constantly growing) far outside the observable universe, it's not expected that barring a miracle, that the war will end within the next million years. To the Hierarchy, this is the great crusade to eradicate those altered by the Masari, to the others it is the most apocalyptic conflict ever fought since the war in heaven touched so many aeons ago.
The Birthstar war has yet to reach the Earth, if only because one single planet with only sentimental value to the Chironaxi is more or less irrelevant to an Empire that controls over a quintillion galaxies. It is through their coalition that the Novus, the Chironaxi, the Vhozon, the Red Guard, the Arceans and others manage to fight on against the Hierarchy.. The other invasion forces simply add more complexity to this vast conflict, and reports of six way battles have been made.
Dave however, has not lost hope. The Hiearchy's Overseers may control the largest empire since the likes of the Masari Ecumene and the Necron Triarchy but the Overseers seem more concerned about profit than victory. If he could just convince them that continuing the war is no longer in their interests, he could repel the Overseers' invasion once and for all. The prophecy of the primalborn also gives him hope, stating that in the end, they can win, although worryingly it says that the Hierarchy is simply one of many catastrophic threats to all things.

Powers
Fighting skills: Dave is trained in all the martial arts of his species, fitting as he's one of the two last representatives of them.
Intelligent: Dave is highly intelligent, While not quite the book worm that his sister is, he shows a great deal of skill and proficiency in the fields of problem solving, strategy, analysis, and tactics.
Better than human: Dave has half of John's strength and durability, being able to snap promethium bare handed at base levels, and has wolverine like regeneration. During adrenaline surges these impressive statistics can go up by a great deal, though this is true of anyone and like all of the primalborn, his physical power goes up with his emotional state, As one of the "champions of fate" he has enhanced senses, far in excess of that of most metahumans.
Immunity: Dave is immune to disease, poison, mind control, radiation, even of supernatural varieties, additionally Heat and Cold simply cannot hurt him, and his resistance to magic and psionics is simply astonishing. As he is immune to poison he is incapable of getting drunk.
Psionics: Dave specializes in the energomatic and biomatic fields of psionics which manipulate energy and the bodies of living beings. He dabbles a bit in the psionic fields of Telekinesis and telepathy. Like the rest of his powers, they go up as his emotions do.
Ludicrous Speed: Dave is ridiculously fast, capable of breaking the light speed barrier with ease even without using his time powers, and his reaction times are similarly great. While the other four can also exceed the speed of light effortlessly, Dave still appears as a blur to most of them at top speed, and can even create after images to confuse and trick enemies due to how damned fast he is.
Knight of time: Dave shows an incredible amount of control over fire, time, kinetic energy, cold, and negative energy. He can ignite an entire planet with a blaze intense enough to turn it molten, he can age people into dust or back to infancy, stop it outright, engage in time travel, summon temporal duplicates of himself and others, erase individuals from the time stream (he does this incredibly rarely though, due to the heavy damage this does to the spacetime continuum), slow down time for others to a crawl, and so on, his control over kinetic energy is about equal to Jade's, he can freeze over entire planets, bring things down to absolute zero, and strip an entire world of the undead of the negative energy that fuels them. He's also capable of flight, though he's probably the least practiced flier out of the Four, and his powers increase with emotion. He will cease aging the moment he hits eighteen.
Creature of time: Dave is essentially solidified Time, closer to an elemental or an energon than to anything understood by standard biology. He has no biological needs and can discorporate himself into a less physical form at will. He has only realized his true nature fairly recently and like the other three, has some difficulties relinquishing biological life completely. His powers can't be altered or dampened against his will, even by multiversal level reality warpers. He also has no Chi to alter or manipulate, not being a truly biological entity.
Truenaming: As a descendant of Talorak; Dragon Primordial of Time and leader of the Primordials; father to all dragonkind, Dave is a master truenamer. Truenaming is effectively speaking to reality in a cosmic language, and it listens. He can also absorb truenaming knowledge from other truenamers either by killing them and consuming their knowledge, or if they willingly share theirs with him. This is his ability as the scion of Talorak, King of Everything, Emperor of Time. He can accomplish amazing feats of reality warping with his expertise in the true language of the cosmos, though he needs to know the words to accomplish the effects, and unless he knows the *personal* truename of what he's targeting, it can be resisted.
Armor modes: All Primal born suits have four modes, Speed, Power, Stealth, and Armor. In speed mode, Dave's already incredible speed is further enhanced as the armor's nanomachines bond to his cells and allow them to contract far more quickly than they already could while rewriting his neural pathways to move and react even more quickly, to the point that even other FTLers are virtually incapable of perceiving him. As the speed focused of the four, his speed mode is the most intensely upgraded. Power as it suggests, has the armors alter his musculature for greater leverage and elasticity for enhanced strength, which was key in a battle with a massively upgraded Sergeant Arch Dornan that ended in the death of the Frankenstein (the first such death of a project frankenstein member in fact). Stealth mode creates a lensing field that bends all forms of detection away from dave, even vibration simply flows around the suit, and even precognition is incapable of distinguishing a divine steel user in stealth mode. Armor mode does exactly what the name implies, it causes the nanostructure of the armor to realign for maximum strength and shock absorbtion, while Divine steel is already more or less invincible, this greatly reduces the amount of shock transferred to the user. Multiple modes can be activated at once and each mode allows for special maneuvers and techniques, but they cost energy.
Equipment
Timesplitter (Novian Name: Nov'las): Forged out of the strangely prevalent alloy of Divine Steel, this blade is charged with a colossal amount of energy, much like John's hammer, Rose's quills, and Jade's gun. This royal looking sword is sharp to the point of being able to cut through spacetime, opening up portals with ease while being able to slice through practically anything, even things such as Adamantium, Quantum Crystalline, and Impervium don't offer any resistance at all. The sword is also capable of sending shockwaves over towards a foe by being sliced them, hurling energy crescents as capable of slicing through things as Timesplitter itself.
The divine steel sword is bound to him much as Mjolnir is bound to Thor, and will refuse to be lifted by anyone who is either unworthy of it or Dave himself denies the use of. The Timesplitter sword takes on the appearance of a seemingly ordinary if ornate broadsword, but the simple glimmer of this blade has sent shivers through the spines of many a Hierarchy or Black Hand grunt, and has cut apart spaceships, giant mecha, elite soldiers, and metahumans alike in the furious war against the Zolkri. The sword can also disrupt metaphysical (psionic, cosmic, divine, or magical) connections by cutting through their tendrils, which frees mind controlled entities and forces summoned creatures back to their home plane.
He can even use it to cut through telekinetic grasps or technologically based connections, literally slicing through the psychic manipulation of the universe's forces or ripping through the particle waves that bring about the connection. Although if the connection is continuously maintained, the next packet will still arrive, only losing whatever data was sent during the time the sword was interrupting it's path. This has however, proven vital in the fight against Yuri Omega's dreaded epsilon group, as it can free those caught by mind control or play havoc with the psychic net that nefarious organization uses.
The sword, like all of Dave's equipment, can be duplicated through temporal manipulation. Dave's old ultra-dense high frequency sword named Tur'vak, which wasn't made of Divine Steel, was broken in the duel to the death with Frankenstein member Sergeant Arch Dornan, who was massively enhanced with special nanomachines. This new sword, given to him mid-battle by Jade as she combed through Masari ruins, allowed Dave to turn the tide against the enhanced Frankenstein when combined with a power boosting flip out and eventually cut out Dornan's heart to be crushed, killing the Frankenstein.
Shades: He doesn't just wear these because he thinks they look cool, these also function as a way to constantly keep him connected to various electronic information sources as well as housing an advance sensor and communication suite, effectively being an alien supercomputer he can wear over the bridge of his nose.
Knight of Nov: An armoured and upgraded variant of his typical armour, this provides half of the strength that John's hospitaller armour does, letting him shatter primary adamantium with his hands while being more focused on allowing him to move as quickly as possible. It is still comprised of Novian Divine steel and is thus pretty much impenetrable, though it does still transmit some concussive force. This has the same triple layer shield system utilized by the other three Fated. The Knight of Nov armor like all the other suits of the four have four special modes, Power, Armor, Speed, and Stealth (more in the corvidae section)
Corvidae Nanosuit: Dave's counterpart to John's Templar Armour, Jade's fusion suit, and Rose's light suit, this armour once again provides half of the strength that John's version does, allowing him to shatter Nth metal, being built more for speed. The armour comes with more advanced technological systems than John's does, but doesn't provide quite as much spell and psionics resistance as his does. This suit comes with yet another triple layer shield system for added protection for the user. The Corvidae suit has four modes, speed, strength, armor, and stealth.
Ormag: This eight foot tall suit of armour is Dave's counterpart to Rose's Viktor. Less graceful of a flier and possessing less ranged ability than her suit, while only providing half of the strength of John's Teutonic armour (still enough to break even Skyfather enhanced Uru) and lacking the modability of Jade's suit (the standard set of compromises, John's suits are stronger, Rose's are better at ranged, and Jade's are more versatile), Ormag is the fastest of the four top tier powered armour suits. Ormag has all of Viktor's weapons, though the ranged weapons are not quite as powerful, but it can enhance Dave's speed even further. This indestructible divine steel suit comes with yet another triple layer shield, meaning that like the other three of the fated, he has nine layers of shielding when in his top tier armour suit. Like all other suits given to the primal born, it has four modes, Speed, Power, Armor, and Stealth.
Hunter's fury: A special compound bow made for Dave as his secondary weapon. Whereas John gets shields, Rose gets Staffs, and Jade has bayonets, Dave's secondary weapon is the bow. Custom fitted for his body and armor's incredible strength, the divine steel bow seems to draw forth matter from another dimension best described as "a random soup of elements" that are then realigned by nanites into an arrow of virtually any configuration Dave can imagine. Thus Dave never runs out of ammunition so long as a dimensional anchor or similar effect is not in place. The Hunter's fury multiplies the force Dave puts into drawing back the bow tremendously, and seems to react to his thoughts, always drawing back with the exact amount of force he desires, thus preventing him from firing arrows clean through planets with a miscalculation.
Hunter's fury cont: As Dave is a warfighter, he doesn't rely on nonlethal trick arrows very often, and given his powers he doesn't need to utilize very many different kinds of arrows, he merely needs to imbue them with energy from his powers to accomplish most effects and vary the draw string. Given that any object at sufficient velocity can replicate an explosion, he doesn't need explosive arrows for example, he simply fires the arrow so quickly that the molecules in the air react with one another explosively, or if need be, fire it at near lightspeed so that friction induces nuclear fusion on the surface of the arrow and the air it touches, building up a sheathe of plasma before impacting the target with force akin to a matter-anti-matter reaction. He has fired an arrow faster than light without imbuing it with a speed force bubble exactly once, and the result destroyed a solar system and tore a hole through reality from which eldritch monsters of the far realm crawled out of. Thus he's not eager to try such a stunt again.
Hunter's fury cont: The arrows seem to usually be made out of what seems to be a nanotube structure out of some ultradense element not yet discovered on the periodic table, but has an atomic number of four hundred thirteen, hitting the "island of stability" though he can instead fire arrows with a slightly different atomic structure that is largely identical save for being lethally radioactive with a half life measured in seconds (literally so radioactive that it glows). The arrows are so dense that if one were to rest them on the ground, they would sink through the earth, and are harder than diamond while still retaining metallic flexibility and enormous tensile, torsional, and compressional strength. The arrowhead is made out of Divine steel. The density of the arrows means that they on average; weigh seventy thousand metric tons and cause minor warps in space time and visible bends in light due to their gravity. The bow can manipulate this lensing field to make the arrow invisible and silent even when Dave isn't in stealth mode.
Hunter's fury cont: He has taken out capital ships, superheavy tanks, and massive walkers in single shots from the Hunter's Fury, usually overpenetrating through entire rows of them to take them all out at once. Even if it weren't for the Bow's bond to him that prevents the unworthy (or those Dave simply doesn't want using it) from utilizing it, the sheer mass of the arrows and truly ridiculous amount of raw strength needed to pull back the bow would prevent most beings from so much as getting a single shot off. Not to mention that as Dave usually doesn't carry his arrows on him due to his ability to simply summon them from another dimension, they would have virtually no ammunition for it anyway. Tales of the arrows piercing right through meters of adamantium or obliterating entire armies in massive atomic blasts aren't necessarily exaggerated.
Spaceship
NNS Starbourne wrath: One of twenty four Novian and Astartes warships built on the orders of the Founder and Lord High Protector Thule with what Masari technology they had to protect the Primalborns and give them safer travel through the void of space in case their own abilities were not sufficient, Novia's approach is a vessel capable of detonating stars, slagging planets, capturing entire fleets in constraint fields and then crushing them, housing entire armies, easily taking control over all computer systems on most planets and traversing through space and the universes with ease as well as shields and self regenerating armor and a hard light barrier that virtually nothing can breach, or keep breached. Roughly fourteen kilometers long, ten kilometers high (including the massive downward prow), and four kilometers wide, this vessel has often turned the tide of battles on it's own.
The warship has a massive number of Dervish fighter, Kilij Fighter-bomber, and Zweihander bomber wings, Sabre class assault transports, an indeterminate number of drop pods and teleporters, Jin class interceptors, and the feared Dao class ground attack craft and Vertigo class super-strike craft. Due to Masari spacefolding technology, the vessel is actually larger on the inside than it is on the outside, allowing it to fit more potent internal systems such as engines, carrying capacity, shield generators, and munitions factories. A series of powerful A.Is eliminate the need for most crew duties, allowing the ship to devote more of it's internal space to war.
On the outside, the craft's main weapon is a front mounted triple weapon system consisting of a matter-energy converter beam (Commonly called a "doom laser") an omni-crusher cannon that fires a rift of ultradense matter from another dimension at near or exceeding the speed of light, and a nightmare torpedo launcher which launches a torpedo that explodes into a black hole. Smaller scale versions of these weapons surround the vessel as turrets, fixed barbettes, and batteries to deal with vessels not directly in front. Other systems include constraint tractor fields that surround other ships or entities in force fields that can be used to manipulate them (often crushing them or holding their guns in place), jammer arrays, and manipular A.I systems that launch massive cyberwarfare attacks.
While smaller than some Hierarchy ships, the Starbourne wrath is quite capable of outgunning most of them, and has been known to simply ram it's way through entire hierarchy planets or fleets at near lightspeed to shatter them if it's weapon systems are not available. The Overseer's obliterator Supercarrier was obliterated when the Starbourne wrath pushed it's way through it's escorting capital ships and simply plowed through the thirty six kilometer saucer with fatal results for the Hierarchy ship. It also partook in the fearsome battle of Glise, fought just twenty light years from earth and involving Billions of Coalition and Hierarchy ships beyond the notice of mankind.
One of the largest battles in the current galactic war, the Battle of the Oort cloud was considered one of the hardest tests of the Coalition against the Hierarchy. Launched as part of Nufai's attempts to prove himself to other Hierarchy leaders, he launched a massive fleet near the heart of the Chironaxi imperium in hopes of weakening their rear, but was surprised to learn that with the help of Rose's precognition, the Coalition was able to massively bolster their defense fleet over the Solar system. The colossal battle raged for nearly two months as both sides kept on bringing in reinforcements and recycling their destroyed ships and dead soldiers.
The Starbourne Wrath played a key part in crippling Nufai's flagship, the Super-dreadnought known as the Dirge of Fear which helped convinced the cowardly skinwalker to flee in the midst of the battle. This battle highlighted the stark difference between Coalition and Hierarchy tactics, philosophy, and design. The Hierarchy had definitely begun to rely on sheer weight of numbers, and their vassal species' fleets were given relatively little initiative due to the Zolkri's inherent mis-trust of other species.
This meant that species that generally relied on high maneuverability in space conflicts such as the Urtraghian Space Pirate Confederacy, Dark Eldar Raiders, Scrin harvesters, or the Batarian Hegemony were short-shafted and frequently misused by their Zolkri masters, while fleets meant primarily for staying power such as the San'Shyuum-Jiralhanae Covenant, Charybdis reclaimers, Vasari Imperial fleets, or the Seraphim Dominion were frequently misappropriated for flanking actions or simply as shields for Zolkri and Skinwalker vessels.
Meanwhile the coalition's fleet, which included Chironaxi Imperial, Novus Federation, Tau Imperial, Yajuta Protectoral, Thalan Hive, Arcean Hegemonic, TEC conglomerate, Skrull Imperial, Cybran Confederacy, and Sangheili Dominion fleets were given a lot of leeway and freedom to take the initiative, while falling under the loose overall command of High Lord Admiral Jozenthus of the Chironaxi Imperial fleet. Ground combat was every bit as fierce as it was in the stars above, and no quarter was given or taken until the Hierarchy's fleet finally routed and fled.
Novian Physiology
While Novians appear almost identical to humans outwardly; though with a predilection towards being tall, pale skinned, and fair haired and eyed, inwardly they have some major differences. Most notably they possess lungs with bird like air sacs as well as diaphragms to allow for much more efficient respiration, which when combined with the fact that they possess four and not two lungs means that Novian respiration is some of the most efficient in any species, in addition they possess twin hearts for even better blood circulation. Additionally, their Apendix, unlike in humans, is fully functional, allowing them to eat tough cellulose such as grass, whereas humans have long lost the ability to properly digest such matter.
Their brain has two special sections of it devoted to psionic ability, meaning that their entire species was a highly psychic one, with empathic abilities being universal amongst even the least developed of their kind. Their hemoglobin equivalent contains a higher percentage of Iron, giving their blood a stronger reddish colour than typical humans, this is again a adaptation for better respiration, brought on by their predilection for living in high altitudes.
This means that Novians can comfortably live in low oxygen conditions that would cause numerous health problems for humans. Their toxin filtration system, aided by dual livers and a quartet of kidneys is extremely sophisticated, making them virtually immune to poison to help overcome the vulnerability to inhaled toxins that such an awe inspiring respiration system would cause. While humans can only see in visible light, Novian eyes are also capable of seeing into ultraviolet and infrared, again adaptations to their high altitude environments where blizzards could sweep in and render visible light based vision nearly useless.
To help them maintain their balance and avoid falling off, they have very developed inner ears, giving them an impeccable sense of balance. This however, means that they are easily made dizzy. Additionally; as their vision is more acute than humans, they are more easily blinded by bright lights, a fact that their pitiful amounts of melanin only worsens. They can hear lower pitched sounds than humans, but some higher pitched noises that humans can hear are inaudible to Novians, an adaptation meant to help them detect the rumblings that precede an incoming avalanche.
Notably, compared to humans, the Novian sense of smell and thus taste is quite weak, as the nose is more adapted for breathing rather than smelling, and that while they existed as hunter gatherers; there wasn't terribly much to smell up on the mountains anyway. This means that when they became a highly advanced technological civilization, they never invested much into perfumes and spices the like; to the irritation of many merchants.
