More of the Worst in Wiki Profile Pics

This blog series is dedicated to awesome female characters with the WORST default pics on the wiki. A lot of these are characters who looked better in past versions but the new 'Reboot' version is inferior in my opinion, perfect example is Abby Holland in the 80's Swamp Thing vs the New 52 version or Gwen Stacy back in the Stan Lee days vs present. I understand the desire to have a 'current' image of the character in the wiki but I think the 'classic' image is streets ahead in many many cases. Right or wrong it drives up my blog count so, thanks for listening.

This bad girl looked WAY better back in the 1980's Walt Simonson days.

Gwen Stacy

Classic Gwen looked way better. There are over 700 images in her gallery and even if your preference is for the current Gwen appearance there are a lot more flattering pictures than this one. Here eyelids looks so heavy she can't keep them open and I don't know if those are earrings or what but it looks like she has Frankenstein blots in her neck.

The Worst in Profile Pics on the Wiki

This blog series is dedicated to awesome female characters with the WORST default pics on the wiki. Female comic book characters who are drawn hot, their sex appeal is part of their personality but for some reason someone has chosen a very atypical or unflattering picture for their wiki article profile pic. I have changed them myself and they have been changed back, I'm not interested in playing back and forth at it, so I will just blog the Idiocracy of making pretty girls look ugly and leave it at that.

Zatanna

This picture is not bad but there are better out there, Zatanna has a huge gallery, this profile pic can be improved on even in the scope of the current New 52 Zatanna.

Lana Lang

This is actually the profile picture for Lana Lang in the wiki..... I don't think I need to comment further, but I will. There are word bubbles this is not even a good pic its a scan from a issue of the book, she looks like the offspring of Howdy-Doody and the Joker, and it looks like she has a patch of chest hair. I'm changing this one one more time, if someone changes it back I may lose it.

Abby Holland

Well I hate Abby's new short hair, so maybe I'm a little bias on this one. I liked the Abby from the '80 the long hair, never been in a fight, sweetheart of the Swamp Thing, so my preference would be for a classic era Abby pic. I know the desire is for a current pic on the wiki, but even said there are better pics in the gallery than this.

She-Hulk

Okay this is the one I REALLY don't get, I know some of the less popular characters only have a few images to chose from or only have pictures that are to small or to poor resolution to make good main images but SHE-HULK!!! She is one of the most heavily drawn green women on the vine. There are 1678 images currently in her gallery and 1677 of them are better than the current default pic. She Hulk is a gorgeous green girl and her sex appeal has been part of her persona ever since she was first drawn by John Buscema. This picture looks like we caught her in the middle of taking a dump, this mysterious rock wall she is holding up really doesn't demonstrate her strength, and perhaps the biggest fail, her eyes are closed. Typically if a persons eyes are closed in a picture its discarded automatically, not here thought, we have selected it as the ideal image for the sensational savage.

Anthro

This such a great book, a nice easy read, the kind of thing you would want to take on vacation or read over the summer. There is no real intense story arc just the reader being put into the stone age with a family of cavemen you get to know the environment, the needs and wants of the characters through their eyes. The dangers, the food, the customs, the discoveries its so easy to put yourself in the fantasy and so much fun if your a fan of the caveman genre, one of the best things is the love interest, young Embra. It's not a masterpiece, its not groundbreaking literature, its a comic strip and a damn good one. If I would have found this comic when I was a kid I would have been OBSESSED, I would have been jumping from trees out in the woods pretending I was Anthro hunting prehistoric beasts. I guess I am just the small screwball demographic that was too tiny to make this title a hit back in the 60's but its a shame it got cancelled by DC back then and I can think of a few New 52 titles I would trade in for a chance to see a rebooted.

Decoding Swamp Thing

The Saga of Swamp Thing #21

Alac Holland working on a formula to enhance plants and turn deserts into lush green gardens awakes in his lab in the Louisiana Swamp. A bomb planted under the table exploded just inches from his face incinerating his body. Holland is propelled from his home into the swamp water, sinking to the bottom already dead. His remains covered in the plant enhancing formula he was working on in his lab are ingested by microorganisms and fed into the plants at the bottom of the swamp. The enhanced plants now start to grow with the consciousness of Alac Holland inside them, a consciousness that does not know its dead, the plant tries to be human and grows into…. The Swamp Thing.

In Swamp Thing Alan Moore tells the story of a Dr Manhattan type character, instead of time and space it’s a Manhattan of nature and earth. Over time Swamp Thing develops and understands his powers better and continually discovers how very intertwined he is with nature how much he can (not necessarily control) but enhance or aid the environment.

It’s a powerful environmental message, above politics, it’s a message about having the power to preserve the Earth and in return reclaim a primal and savage part of our humanity.

Ode to Spot

In honor of one of my favorite poems:

A great Star Trek moment, I came across in an otherwise mediocre episode. Thought I would post it in case there are any fans out there who likewise had not seen it in years.

Easy come easy go

Sooooo apparently you are not suppose to add a issue until the day before it comes out, so much for my short lived glory with Tarot #78. But I will be poised at midnight on the 30th to re-add it. Fortune favors the bold my friends!
