Top 5 Comic Book Heroes

This list focuses on the main stream comic book heroes.

2 close contenders for this list are Thor and Azrael (the Jean-Paul Valley version).

List items

  • The impressive Max Fleischer animated series first introduced me to the character but it was the 1978 portrayal by Chris Reeve that made me love this character. As a comic book reader I have found only a few stories that have really deserved to be called "great" or "epic" (he has been a difficult character to write for), but like many, the impression Superman left on me as a child has carried on into adulthood and cemented his place on this list for all-time.

  • It's Batman.

  • Like the It was the Max Fleischer animated series, I also grew up watching the Aquaman animated series and have fond memories of it. Though the character went through a period of decline and was quite frankly becoming the joke of the DCU, Geoff John's revitalization in the New 52 has lifted Aquaman up to being one of the most fun characters to read in modern comics.

  • "BLAM! Murdered you." Give a talking Racoon an oversized gun and a wicked sense of humour...how can you not enjoy him?

  • I have an attraction to characters who border on being or straight up are clinically insane. Didn't really get into the character until Daniel Way's run on the mid-late 2000's, and while sometimes I find the plots of his adventures a little lacking, the craziness, action and humour (mixed with a dash of humanity which makes you feel for the guy) make up for most shortfalls in the stories.
