I think a complete re-watching of The Clone Wars may be appropriate.

My Favorite Non-Big Two Characters

List items

  • Alucard aka Dracula is the star of manga/anime series Hellsing. He represents a very different take on the mythology of Dracula as well as vampires. He is a terrifying monster but one that fights on the side of good. He is the ultimate anti-hero.

  • I have a fascination with creepy/dark stories. Hellboy is a great character who exists in a world that takes advantage of many different fantasy and folklore subjects. Plus, Mike Mignola is my favorite artist of all time. That helps too.

  • Dragon Ball Z was a huge part of my childhood and Vegeta (aside from an early period of Piccolo) was always my favorite character. Unlike the boyscott lead Goku, Vegeta had layers to his character. Not everything was black and white. I find that interesting.

  • I'm an unapologetic fan of vampires. They have been seen as lame since Twilight turned them into sparkling teenagers but Skinner Sweet is a vampire worth fearing and I love him for that.

  • This list clearly indicates my taste for dark and magical stories. Shadowman is my favorite character from the Valiant universe. His book may have had some rocky territory but the potential for greatness is obvious for Jack Boniface.

  • I am a big fan of the horror genre so the entire premise of Hack/Slash appeals to me in a big way. On top of that Cassie is a really great character. At first glance, she may seem a little heavy on the "cheesecake" but there is actually a lot of depth to her.

  • Her battle to control the fire within her makes her both tragic and heroic. My Mignola fanboy heart makes Liz an easy inclusion.

  • The unwavering determination that Travis has for killing vampires is admirable. Plus, he's a 50s greaser. What's not to love?

  • The entire Mignolaverse is fantastic. Abe is a joy of a character with a great design.

  • Pearl is a vampire worth rooting for. Where Skinner is a vamp we can fear again, Pearl is an incredibly relatable character in an outrageous situation.

  • Harada has a very complex set of morals. It is almost hard to even call him a villain but that is the biggest reason he makes this list.

  • The Arnold movies did no favors for this character but I have recently gotten into the Dark Horse Conan stuff and I've been won over by the character.

  • Valiant has been knocking it out of the park lately and X-O is one awesome character from that universe. The clash between his alien technology and brutish origin makes for great character arcs.

  • There is something alluring about a mysterious character that won't give up no matter what. Rorschach is a man of principle and is truly the star of the all time great Watchmen.

  • A witch with a troubled past and a rocky still present. Eve comes off as brash quite often but she is a complex and interesting character in a dark and disturbing world.

  • Piccolo, like my favorite DBZ character Vegeta, started out as a villain. Also like Vegeta, Piccolo shows a great deal of character growth throughout his existence. This is why he is my second favorite DBZ character behind only the one and only Prince of Saiyans.

  • Donnie is my favorite turtle because of his high intellect and tendency towards tinkering. He may not be the most popular Ninja Turtle but that doesn't matter to me.

  • Bloodshot is basically the ultimate badass in the Valiant Universe.

  • Seras adds a great deal of humor to Hellsing but she also evolves into a considerable force of her own by the end of the series. She is no Alucard but she's still a cool character and a dangerous foe to have.

  • An immortal warrior who fights throughout the ages. Gilad Anni-Padda encompasses so many story telling possibilities and he's an immeasurable badass.

  • I AM THE LAW!

  • I have memories of going to Suncoast in the mall and seeing these captivating Spawn figures. I was never allowed to read Spawn or watch the movie but I was fascinated. Years and years later I got to read the comics and while a little over the top, I can't help but love the character that always intrigued me as a child.

  • It's extremely commendable that a character that speaks one word can cause so much emotion. Lying Cat is a brilliant creation from the masterful BKV.

  • Faith is an absolute delight. She is the heart and soul of the Harbinger series.

  • The stand-out star of Criminal Macabre. Cal is abrasive and hard to like but Mo is the character that makes me a fan of Criminal Macabre in the first place.
