The Night is Young 0

The Night of Owls has begun and I can confidently say that DC's first major crossover since the relaunch, this is off to a phenomenal start. The story is great. After barely managing to survive his first encounter with the Court of Owls, Bruce is recovering at Wayne Manor when guess who shows up, that's right it's the Talons, trained assassins who work for the Court. One thing that has always amazed me about Batman and one of the reasons why I like the character so much is his ability to bounce ...

Round 1! Ding! 0

For the first time in one of my reviews, I will be posting some spoilers. So read at your own risk.No more Waiting, The Avengers Vs. X-Men Event has now begun and while it isn't mind-blowing, it's not downright terrible either. For those of you who haven't been reading the previews online, here's the main idea, The Phoenix Force, the entity that killed Jean Grey and millions of others all over the galaxy, is on it's way back to Earth for another host, in this case Hope Summers. Cap and the rest ...

Welcome to Earth One 0

It's only been the last few years that I've become a big-time Superman fan. So it was natural for me to pick up this book, I wasn't on this site then which is why I'm writing this review now. I'm happy I picked up Earth One and I really enjoyed JMS' take on the origin of the character. This book is definitely a modern take on The Man of Steel and at the same time JMS brings a lot of the classic elements to the Superman character that I absolutely love! In this story Clark is a young man on his wa...

This Is NOT TWILIGHT! 0

When I looked over the list of DC'S new 52 back in August, I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to pick up I,Vampire. It seemed like it was DC's excuse to take a ride on the Vampire Bandwagon and the first cover didn't do much to waive my fears. But after reading some Interviews with Josh Fialkov, I was intrigued and decided to pick up a copy the day it came out. After reading it, I have to say that this is what a Vampire story SHOULD be. It builds on established vampire mythology without going...

You Can Fly! You Can Fly! 0

Grant Morrison is continuing to deliver in all aspects when it comes to Superman. Last issue we got the introduction of a great new villain in the Anti-Superman Army, and here we see just how big of a threat they can truly be by turning Superman's BODY into KRYPTONITE! Ouch! As if that weren't enough, we get a lot of insight into Clark growing up in Smallville and it does it better than the TV show did. Exactly how old Clark is in these flashbacks is hard to say but I'd guess he can't be much ol...

Dack likes to borrow things 0

I used to play a lot of Magic The Gathering but it got too expensive for my tastes. However I was interested in picking up the first issue of the new series because I've always liked the various story lines that have come out of the novels. My final conclusion with issue 1 is that it's not bad, but it's not that great either. Nothing really happens in the book but at the same time we do get a good introduction to this new planes walker named Dack. Dack likes jumping around the multiverse borrowi...

Action is the Key Word Here 0

I've decided to write more reviews so here we go. For Starters, I love Grant Morrison and I love Superman, so having these two combined is sure to be good. I love the idea of taking Superman back to his golden age roots and in my opinion it works. Superman is younger and is not the hero that we knew him to be but at the same time we see evidence that that hero is still in there. Superman has good intentions, trying to do the right thing either by exposing criminals by his writing as Clark Kent o...

An old Story is Still a Good One 0

I just finished this book and I have to say while it is very good, it is definitely a product of the time that it was written. That does not mean it's bad, far from it, I enjoyed the story very much and I'm glad I picked it up. Wolfman's Titans are there and it was great and nostalgic reading his version of the team again. The art is also reflective of the time that Perez and Wolfman started doing Teen Titans and like I said before, it doesn't make the book bad, however when you compare the art ...

Not Quite There Yet. 0

I'm sort of enjoying this new Superman, but I'm not entirely sold yet. The fight against an enemy he can't sense in any possible way was something I really liked and what really helped was Perez building up the suspense by having Clark frantically trying to find out how to track this thing before it causes real serious damage. While the fight really did work what didn't was Clark moping about Krypton. While it may make sense later on especially if these creatures he's facing turn out to be Krypt...

The Definition of AWESOME!! 0

Batman is always going to be one of the most popular and dynamic characters in comic books and Scott Synder is quickly proving why Batman deserves that title. Of the four Batman titles that came out with the relaunch, this one definitely stands out as the best. Batman is facing a dark enemy he knows little about and this group is proving to be very deadly and very dangerous. Apart from that, the thing I absolutely LOVE about Synder writing Batman is how he uses Gotham City. Synder is using the c...

Nightwing's Back!! 0

Nightwing was one of the very first titles I read when I started reading comics and reading this and last month's issue reminds me of why i fell in love with the character in the first place. He's not with Batman anymore, he's calling his own shots, he's facing his own problems, he's cracking jokes when he needs to and at the same being serious when it calls for it. Higgins is doing a phenomenal job of bringing back the Nightwing I loved and at the same moving him in a direction that really work...
