Is that a rip-off of the Bat-Signal on the cover??

Yeah, it's actually kinda hilarious.

Jameson sets it up on the roof of the police station to call Spidey, at which point Otto comes swinging in, throws a spider bomb into it, destroying it, and says "I passed the test." When Jameson is dumbfounded, Otto explains that only a total idiot would broadcast to all of Spidey's enemies exactly where he is, and Jameson is no idiot, so obviously it's a test and he passed. Nice little middle finger to the ridiculousness that is the Bat-signal.

I liked Beast's little bit about "are you really asking a mutant how far I'm willing to go to protect my people?" especially considering he's got some experience with the whole "destroying a planet/universe to save my own" thing...remember Ghost Boxes? yeah, Beast has his girlfriend Agent Brand fire a massive S.W.O.R.D. laser through a ghost box, destroying the reality on the other side...... the blood of billions is on his hands, and he's mad at Scott? Ugh, Beast's hypocrisy is staggering.

Did anybody else notice that horrifying letter in the letters page at the end? It's full of vitriol and typical nerd-rage about Peter's death and the lack of heroism in modern comics, but then at the end the author essentially says "you can print whatever you want. I won't be around to see it." Signed <Mr. So and So.> 1968 - 2012.....it basically seems like a death-bed letter that Marvel printed for some reason. It made me so sad to think of this guy going to the great beyond full of anger without getting a chance to see this genuinely interesting story that Slott is rolling out.

My roommate and I were trying to figure out who she meant by 'The Unknowable.' The others were pretty clear references to Galactus, the Celestials, the Phoenix, and Eternity, but 'The Unknowable' had us stumped. The Beyonder? The Watchers? The In-Betweener?
